Man, we haven’t even made it to the first official full day of the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con yet, and already companies are being absolutely relentless in their efforts to secure our future dollars! (And I love it!). Next up at bat is Sideshow Collectibles, which has somehow done the impossible by debuting a statue at SDCC 2013 that’s even bigger than their Gladiator Hulk Premium Format–it’s the Sideshow Apocalypse Premium Format Figure Statue!
Sideshow Collectibles must have heard that clever catchphrase of “Go Big or Go Home”, because they have gone huge at this year’s San Diego Comic Con! As immense and awe-inspiring as the Premium Format Gladiator Hulk statue that Sideshow put up earlier this month was, they’ve managed to somehow top it with an even bigger statue!
The Apocalypse Premium Format Figure easily stands 24″ tall from head to toe, and that’s not even taking into consideration the extra height from his massive chainsaw arm! I don’t know that there’s any word you can describe this Premium Format Apocalypse statue with other than “monstrous”!
Apocalypse is one of the most deadly and powerful of the villains in the Marvel Universe (though he primarily only appears as an X-Men villain). As Apocalypse’s abilities including shape-shifting his body into weapons (think Hordak from She-Ra fame), I think the chainsaw arm that the Sideshow artists designed for Apocalypse is absolutely inspired. His base looks extremely bland and generic compared to the elaborate one that Gladiator Hulk got, but I’m hoping (a lot) that the plain base will keep this Apocalypse Premium Format Statue’s price below $500.
Given that the Premium Format Apocalypse statue now looks to be complete and is the farthest along of all the unsolicited Sideshow Marvel Premium Format Figures, it’s likely that the Apocalypse Premium Format Figure will go up for sale on the Sideshow Collectibles website later this month. I’ll post an update once Apocalypse goes up for pre-order, along with the official glamor shots Sideshow releases of the statue.
Very interested in purchasing this piece. Where can you pre-order this?
It should be up for pre-order on the Sideshow Collectibles website in the near future. I’m betting on their “Spooktacular” event this month myself.
Thanks Dabid, checked out that website and wow a ton of great pieces. I’m a first timer to these sites but I believe I will have to start collecting after this. Thanks.
