“No. Way. No freaking way.” Those were my words this morning when I woke up and saw the latest news from Kotobukiya. It figures–it just figures–that immediately after I make a post in which my usual distaste for the Kotobukiya Bishoujo statue line shines through, Kotobukiya goes and shows a Marvel Bishoujo statue concept design illustration that blows me out of this world. I never thought they would pick her, but Kotobukiya has selected the one instant-buy female character in the whole Marvel Universe: it’s the Kotobukiya Jubilee Bishoujo statue!
Ordinarily I think that the poses and expressions that Kotobukiya comes up with for their Bishoujo line are often pretty absurd–sorry, but Black Widow just should not have a cherubic, awed look on her face. That ridiculousness is not the case here–Jubilee’s pose and expression look essentially exactly as I feel they should, and Kotobukiya has even found a way to make Jubilee’s outdated 1990’s X-Men costume look cool and modern again.
This illustration by Shunyu Yamashita is in no way concrete confirmation of a Kotobukiya Bishoujo Jubilee statue being produced, but realistically speaking, Kotobukiya wouldn’t have bothered showing off a Jubilee concept illustration if they didn’t have her in the works for the 2014 Bishoujo lineup. I’ll update with further information and photos of the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Jubilee statue once more details are available, but that probably won’t be for a few months yet.
I’ve wanted Kotobukiya to do a Jubilee one FOREVER! I’ve collected about 8 of these Bishojou figures so far, but this one is an instant buy.
