LEGO Electro Minifigure Polybag Released in Stores!

Way back in October 2014, LEGO shocked the Marvel collecting world with a totally random, out-of-left-field release of an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro minifigure polybag at the LEGO KidsFest event. Marvel collectors have been waiting with bated breath for details on when they could acquire the ASM2 Electro figure ever since. And at long last, more than half a year later, we know–the 5002125 Electro figure has now been released in stores!

Pile of LEGO Marvel Electro Minifigure Polybags

I thought that the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie was basically an atrocity. In fact, after seeing the movie, I sold my Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-Man 2 figures, expressly told all my family and friends to absolutely not buy me for the DVD or Blu-Ray as a holiday gift, and even cancelled the Hot Toys Electro figure that I had pre-ordered (which is a big deal, as I almost never skip a Hot Toys Marvel figure).

But while I’d drop dead before paying for a $200 Electro Hot Toys figure… I’m a little less opposed to paying $4 for a LEGO Electro minifigure.

Back of 5002125 Electro Minifigure PolybagAnd so, I’ve been keeping my ears primed for information on the Electro minifig ever since the first samples popped up last fall as event giveaways.  In February, the Electro 5002125 figure finally turned up in the online Toys R Us database. And three months after that, Electro has now charged into stores! (Haha… “charged”.)

LEGO Electro 5002125 Price-Tag Toys R Us $3.99There’s not a whole lot to this polybag, as you’re simply getting one licensed minifigure and two electrical energy effects attachments. Still, $3.99 is also the price for a random, non-licensed LEGO Minifigures Series blind bag, so it’s a solid value to get a character that you know you want (or at least “sort of want”).

And hey–it’s tough to complain when a figure that was selling on the aftermarket for nearly $200 makes a comeback at four bucks a pop!

If you were worried about this polybagged Electro LEGO Marvel minifigure being rare–have no fear. My Toys R Us received so many of these Electro minifigs that they literally filled two entire cases of LEGO Minifigures Series figures with just Electro. Yowza!

Electro LEGO Minifigure Polybag 5002125Given the enormous number of Electro LEGO polybag sets arriving in Toys R Us stores, I really thought we’d see a “free with qualifying purchase” offer for this Electro minifig–but if so, it hasn’t been announced yet. Ultimately, I was willing to drop $3.99 for this figure. But if you’re dead-set on only wanting it for free… Stay tuned.

Now that they’re appearing in Toys R Us stores en masse, will you be snagging one of these Electro polybags, LEGO fans? Or do you have no place in your collection for an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro, super-low price-tag notwithstanding?

  1. I’m still a little agitated I had to get another Spider-Man with another unnecessary vehicle just to get a standard Electro. I realize they don’t cater the market to just me who will buy lots of Spider-Man related products, but they might have made that Spidey different in some way.

    • I feel your pain bro…I have about…what…8 Ultimate Spider-man minifigs now? Its kind of ridiculous…

I’ll definitely be picking up this Electro today if I can. I had plans to hit TRU anyways, so if I can snag this that’d be great. I hadn’t even realized this ever even existed! I like i a heck of a lot better than the ultimate spider-man electro minifig, who looks more like ice-man than anything else. Kinda wish they’d go with the classic look of electro…

  2. Uh-oh, my TRU still has two bins FULL of Rocket Raccoon polybags! I hope they even bother to put these out!!!

  3. I know one of the managers at my local TRU is a passive aggressive jerk he will make sure a customer will only get one of those polybags by purchasing a set, They are still giving away Rocket Raccoon polybags in December of 2015. They have to many of them because jerks like him won’t allow customers who want to just buy the polybags and not have pay for a Lego Marvel set.
