If Disney was trying to keep the inclusion of Spider-Man related characters in the upcoming Marvel Disney Infinity 2.0 video game a secret, they did a crummy job of doing so, as there were several Spidey-related scenes in the Disney Infinity 2.0 premiere trailer. Even if that was Disney’s intent, however, the time for secrets is past! At the 2014 E3 Expo this week, Disney officially revealed all the details for the Ultimate Spider-Man portion of Disney Infinity 2.0–including the Disney Infinity 2.0 figures of Venom, Iron Fist, Nova and more!

As was widely expected, Disney announced several more new playable characters/figures for Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes at E3 2014 this week. We knew Spider-Man was going to be in the game, but we found out to what extent at the show, where it was revealed that there will be an entire Ultimate Spider-Man Disney Infinity Play Set of levels in the Disney Infinity 2.0 video game.

And to play on those levels, there’s a quintet of Disney Infinity Spider-Man figures on the way!

I wasn’t expecting a whole Ultimate Spider-Man portion of the game, but it certainly makes sense, given the popularity of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and the millions of kids growing up on it. Plus, it’s an instant way to sell kids characters that are prominent in the Ultimate Spider-Man series, but otherwise Marvel Universe C-Listers!

Five figures are scheduled to be released to coincide with the Disney Infinity 2.0 Spider-Man playset: the Disney Infinity Nova and Spider-Man figures will both come bundled with the Ultimate Spider-Man Play Set levels themselves, while there will be individual figures sold of Disney Infinity Iron Fist, Venom and Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson style!).

I was pretty disappointed that there wasn’t a Disney Infinity Nick Fury figure debuted with the Avengers figures when Disney Infinity premiered, so I’m relieved to see that Nick Fury actually will be available when the game launches in the fall. It looks like the Nick Fury in Disney Infinity Marvel Superheroes will be able to drive a motorcycle and use some sort of energy blaster weapons (as obviously Nick Fury won’t be shooting real bullets in a Disney all-ages video game).

The Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Figures and Starter Pack are all now available for order, with a scheduled release date of September 2014. I’m still not 100% convinced I’m going to buy the game, but I definitely love those stylized Disney Infinity 2.0 figures of Nick Fury, Venom and Iron Fist, so I went ahead and locked in pre-orders for those.
