Hasbro has spoiled collectors with a plethora of Marvel Legends Build-A-Figure series, exclusives, box sets, Retro series figures and more throughout 2021–but there’s one wave that’s been waiting to leap into fans’ hands longer than any other. After it started slipping out into fans’ hands overseas toward the end of 2020, the Marvel Legends Eternals Gilgamesh Series is now up for order! Eternals is of the most obscure franchises to ever join the MCU—will its cast of characters be joining your collection of 6” action figures?

Photos of all these figures already leaked onto the internet about 9 months ago, so let’s not beat around the bush and get right to it.
The case ratios for the 6” Eternals Legends Gilgamesh Build-A-Figure Series are as follows:
(2) Ikaris
(1) Makkari
(1) Druig
(1) Sprite
(1) Phastos
(1) Sersi
(1) Kingo
Build-A-Figure: Gilgamesh
Ikaris will be the only double-packed character in the series at two per case, and also the only figure to not include a Gilgamesh BAF piece. The remaining six figures will all be packed at one-per-case and include ML Gilgamesh parts.
Due to the pandemic-related delays, Hasbro’s Marvel team said they had more time to work on this wave than any wave ever before, and were able to make various adjustments to the series such as making sure that Sprite’s hairstyle was correct.
Sersi is probably the figure in this wave with the most name recognition to comic book readers, as the character made numerous appearances as a member of the Avengers. Even so, this Marvel Legends Sersi figure is (obviously) based on the Marvel Studios movie version of the character, so it remains to be seen if her name value will help sales. I suspect she’ll sell no better or worse than any other figure in the wave, honestly.
Makkari, Phastos, Kingo and Druig are all characters that only the absolute most hardcore comic book readers are going to be familiar with at the moment, and I don’t expect pre-orders or in-store sales of any of them to be anything special unless the movie is a huge hit.
The Marvel Legends Gilgamesh Build-A-Figure is likewise not much of a carrot just yet, as the character is an unknown to the buying public and just looks like some dude with armor and a loincloth.
I think a BAF Deviant monster might have been a more alluring Build-A-Figure choice, but props to Hasbro for working hard to get all of the actual Eternals members out to us however they can.
This all-movie figure wave looks like a huge risk for Hasbro to me, so I have my fingers crossed that the MCU Eternals film is a hit and these figures don’t end up clogging the pegs or damaging the Marvel Legends brand as a whole.
Walmart and Target will each have exclusives to fill in missing members of the Eternals. Marvel Legends Ajak will be a Walmart Exclusive figure, while Thena will only be available at Target.
Rounding out the series at mass retail is the deluxe Marvel Legends Kro figure, which is a 100% newly tooled figure that towers over the rest of the figures in the Eternals series. The Eternals Kro Marvel Legends figure will be at the increased price-point of $29.99, but it’s easy to see why when you take into account the sheer size and unique mold.
Kro is seemingly the only one of the Deviants (the antagonists of the Eternals movie) that’s getting the Hasbro action figure treatment, so it’s good that Hasbro has gone all-out and made this figure look spectacular. The humongous interchangeable tentacle arms are an impressive sight, and the intricate sculpting and shiny paints used on the figure really pop and give it an alien, menacing feel.
The Eternals Marvel Legends series is now up for order, and is scheduled to arrive in October 2021 (although Amazon inexplicably has the wave listed for January 2022). I’ve heard some people compare this to the original Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends series that was quickly wiped out in stores after the movie was a hit, but I am very wary about that comparison, as this is not a movie featuring colorful aliens and a talking tree and raccoon. Time will tell if this series does end up being hard to find if the movie is popular.
What say you, Marvel Legends collectors? Will you be buying any (or all!) of these Eternals Legends figures?
I’ve ordered Kro because it is indeed a very cool design.
I could see picking up Ikaris and Sersi on sale somewhere down the road; Ikaris has a cool effects piece, and like you said, Sersi has name recognition.
But the rest…man, I’m just not feeling this one yet.
I just have a bad feeling this movie will wind up being more like the first trailer (self-important) than the second (actually interesting).
I’ve never been a fan of movie-based figures of any character and although I’m really looking forward to this film, I just can’t see buying even a single one of these. Hard no for me.
All of these are underwhelming, except for Thena, because it’s Angelina Jolie. I expect all but the exclusives to get clearanced.
Kro, at least on purely cool toy vibes, looks great. But the 6 figured in the main wave .. geez not to sound cynical but I do nooot see them doing well at retail. Especially since the only accessories are different hands. And even those exclusives I think will end up like the walmart binary captain marble, which is to say literal heaps of them being slashed for $6 a pop
My exact sentiments. This wave really looks like it’ll pegwarm. It’s a shame because they all look like they have great sculpting to their costumes. I think the lack of accessories is going to kill it. Ikaris is good enough with the alternate laser eyes head, and Kingo at least has the finger guns going for him, so I can see him selling decently. The others just lack that fun factor. I also feel like Sersi, Markkari, Sprite, and Gilgamesh are like Okoye and Nakia from the first Black Panther wave. They have great detailing on their costumes, but the paint fails to pick that nice detailing out.
I can see Thena selling well too because a) she’s Angelina Jolie, and b) she has good accessories. I’m getting Kro, Ikaris, and maybe Thena, but that most likely it.
Kro does look really cool, I might pick him up because of his design alone.
The rest…nah, I’m not feeling it. I MAY pick up at least Sersi down the line, but I won’t be too upset if I miss her.
I’ll be waiting for my comic book version Eternals. I would want them to be modelled as closely after Jack Kirby’s art as possible. Except the ladies’ faces. LOL
I’m with you …those classic designs really got your attention. The new ones seem kind of blend …guess to be more “realistic”…C’mon these are super beings ! We don’t want “realistic” …we want imagination…that’s what got us into the original characters to begin with.
I agree. I’d rather have classic comic-based versions of these characters. These are boring to even look at.
I’ve never had any connection to the eternals in my comic book years, nor do I feel the urge to watch the upcoming movie, same goes for Shang-Chi earlier this year, even though I like most of the non-animated MCU.
There also isn’t a miniature that would just scream “buy me” either.
So it’s going to be a pass for me.
