Marvel Legends Galactus HasLab Figure Fully Funded! Morg the Executioner & Dr. Doom Head!

We are coming down to the wire in the Marvel Legends Galactus HasLab campaign–and defying the trends we saw mid-month, the Galactus project itself has now already been fully-funded with time to spare! But it’s not just Galactus who’s been funded–all three stretch-goal figures are also now confirmed, with the thresholds reached for the Marvel Legends Frankie Raye Nova, Silver Surfer and even the newly-revealed Morg the Executioner! And with just over a day to go, only the Tier 4 stretch goal remains: a… giant hooded Doctor Doom head for Galactus??

Galactus HasLab Stretch Goals Doctor Doom Head Marvel Legends Morg the Executioner Figure

I am big enough to admit that I was incorrect: I legitimately had my doubts about the HasLab Galactus Marvel Legends figure being fully-funded by the end of the campaign period, and I was dead wrong that all of the stretch goals weren’t going to be reached.

For a while it really did seem up in the air as to whether the HasLab Galactus project might fall short and not reach the necessary minimum goalpost, but the numbers got a solid bump over the last few days—and after surpassing the Tier 3 unlockable just revealed yesterday, total sales are now nearing the Tier 4 final stretch goal!

HasLab Exclusive Marvel Legends Morg Figure from Galactus Project

The third unlockable at 20,000 units sold—which was already surpassed this weekend—is an exclusive Marvel Legends Morg the Executioner figure. And if you’re saying “Who?!” right now, that means Hasbro did a good job with their choice for a final unlockable action figure, choosing a quasi-deep cut character that is great for die-hard collectors, but not something those who couldn’t afford a Galactus will necessarily feel a void in their collection not owning.

Back of Marvel Legends Morg the Executioner Figure

Morg the Executioner was a 90s character who replaced Frankie Raye nova as a Herald of Galactus (and also murdered her), and became one of the most powerful and ruthless of Galactus’ heralds. Morg only made a few dozen appearances—and died twice in them—but he is a memorable character to many Marvel cosmic fans, and this campaign is a great way to fund an obscure character like him that might otherwise flop at retail.

Marvel Legends Morg the Executioner Figure Close-Up

Hasbro only had a render and not a physical prototype of the Morg Marvel Legends figure to show off, but it’s looking slick from what we can see so far. His bumpy, textured skin looks awesome and his signature double-sided axe is present. There’s a lot of unique tooling present here that I don’t think we would get if this was just a mass market figure (in fact, I don’t think we would get Morg the Executioner as a mass market figure, period).

HasLab Galactus Doom Head Tier 4 Final Stretch Goal

And for the fourth and final stretch goal, Hasbro has given us something totally different. While I had seen some speculation that one of the unlockable goals might be an unmasked Galan head sculpt or even a Celestial head, I don’t think I saw anybody predicting a hooded Galactus Doom head.

Dr. Doom Galactus Head for HasLab Marvel Legends Galactus Project

Technically, Victor von Doom stealing the Power Cosmic from Galactus and getting huge is a canonical thing that really did happen in the Marvel comic books, but for a final stretch goal requiring 22,000 sales of the Galactus project, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher note to go out on.

Marvel Legends Galactus Doctor Doom Head HasLab Stretch Goal

With over 21,500 backers already as of writing and over a day in the campaign to go, there is basically a 100% chance of this interchangeable hooded Doctor Doom Galactus head accessory being unlocked. I imagine that very few fans are ever, ever going to take this out of the box at all—and it kind of feels like a waste of plastic and natural resources to me for that reason—but this is still a unique and interesting look for collectors who really are excited about this last add-on.

Marvel Legends Galactus HasLab Figure with Stretch Goal Heralds Morg Frankie Raye Nova Silver Surfer

Time is running out to order this 32″ largest Marvel Legends action figure (along with his three heralds and one Latverian monarch head stretch goals), so be sure to hop over to the official Hasbro Pulse HasLab site and place your orders before time runs out at 11:59 EST August 30th if you want one. This is almost guaranteed to get very expensive on the aftermarket once the campaign has closed and Galactus becomes exclusive to the aftermarket forevermore.

What do you think of this last duo of extras for the Marvel Legends HasLab Galactus figure—and the overall final project—Marvel collectors? Were most of the stretch goals things that you hoped for, and what characters (*cough* Firelord Airwalker *cough*) are you hoping to see released to complement Galactus when the World Devourer does arrive?

Marvel Legends Galactus HasLab Figure Fully Funded! Morg the Executioner & Dr. Doom Head! — 17 Comments

  1. Wow, I didn’t know there were more tiers! I was collecting issues of Silver Surfer Volume 2 at the time, so I’m familiar with Morg. Best of all, we are now at over 22,000, so we’re getting everything!

    • I might add that I would have preferred an unmasked Galan than Dr. Doom. I’m not a big fan on those “What If” scenarios.

  2. I know Terrax has appeared in 6 inch form before, but I’m sure it was a long time ago. That’s the one I wanted most of all the heralds after Nova. I am excited that both Nova and Surfer come with effects pieces that work as figure stands, and I will enjoy sometimes putting the Doom head on Galactus. Not very often, but it will get some use. It’s DOOM!

    • Terrax was actually the Build-A-Figure in the 2012 Return of Marvel Legends Wave 1 series from Hasbro that had Hope Summers, Klaw, Constrictor and some others in it. Good figure even today! 🙂

        • I saw some fans speculating that they may do a 3 pack to coincide with the actual release of this Galactus of other heralds: Firelord, Airwalker, and a new/retooled Terrax. It would probably sell well on its own and that is likely why these relatively popular herald characters were not a part of the campaign.

Its all speculation but if I were in Hasbro’s position I’d work on getting that together to coincide with the Galactus set shipping. It would pretty much have a guaranteed collector audience at that point.

It also adds up when you look at the Rictor, Domino, Cannonball set, the Excalibur 3-pack and even the Wolverine box set that were all announced just a couple of months to a few weeks prior to the shipping of the Sentinels.

  3. GREAT figure and while it’ll obviously go for more then what Hasbro sold it for I disagree that it’ll be “very” expensive as the article states.

Please note that I’m equating that in terms of the Barge and Unicron on the secondary market which are going for way over what they cost. If you look at the numbers for the last few projects they’re through the roof, which tells me that people are defiantly buying more then the usual extras to sell.

The last few projects closed at around 30k each FAR greater then what the Barge or Unicron ever did. Just wait till you see how many people are going to be selling these and when you’re talking hundreds of dollars with tons of competition it isn’t going to be easy.

    • The final number of “backers” is whopping 32,409! Who thought that number would be achievable a couple of days ago? However, I do have a question, how does Hasbro define a “backer”? If one person orders 5 Galactus figures, does Hasbro count that as just one backer or five backers?

I would identify a “backer” to the person instead of the figure, and if this is how Hasbro comes up with their number, then there will certainly be more figures produced than the number of backers. And we all know about “the law of supply and demand”.

          • 31,583 today. At least nobody was prevented from ordering because of these sales. Now I understand the drive to maximize orders.

  4. Is anyone else as bitterly disappointed as I am? What a crap show. Tier 1 was one new head sculpt for Frankie, the rest is old reused stock. Tier 2 required NO work at all on Hasbro’s part, just some shiny paint. Morg looks great, but not for $400. Then that RIDICULOUS Doom head. What the hell is that? I was really looking forward to Galactus, but Hasbro managed to suck all the excitement out of it for me. Far too expensive for the minimal effort they put into the add-ons. Such a shame.

  5. Very serious question here: will there be a review of this Galactus figure here on this site? It won’t release for over a year, but I’m ready.

    • I mean, I bought one? So there’s no reason I wouldn’t receive it. I haven’t really thought that far ahead yet, though. 😅
