It’s the toy collecting equivalent of the irresistible force meeting the unmovable object! I’ve been fiercely adamant in my stance that I was never going to pick up any of the Hasbro Marvel Super Hero Mashers figures, as I thought they were pretty much the most ludicrous thing ever the first time that I saw them. But Hasbro has found my weakness, and has moved in to exploit it: Loki toys! The Marvel Mashers Loki and Doc Ock figures have now been released!
I’ve had an almost irrational dislike for the Marvel Mashers action figures since I first heard about them and thought that they were an elaborate prank. I’m a pretty obstinate person, so I’ve remained stalwart in not purchasing any figures from this line, even after some admittedly cool figures like the Marvel Mashers Venom turned up in stores.
Considering that Loki is a shapeshifter and can take many forms, I don’t really have a problem with the cartoony look of this Marvel Super Hero Mashers Loki figure. The bright yellow and green paints on Loki really pop, and I dig the scheming grin on Loki’s face.
I think it’s a little bizarre that Hasbro chose to pack Loki with Hulk, as any match-up between the two inevitably ends with Loki being smashed, but I guess Hasbro really didn’t have faith in the selling potential of a Marvel Mashers Loki vs. Thor figures pack.
I’m not really a major fan of this Marvel Mashers Doc Ock figure, as he looks way too ripped and muscular to be the Doc Ock that I know and love. I’m really surprised that Hasbro didn’t pack Spider-Man with a Marvel Mashers Electro instead, to be honest.
The Marvel Superhero Mashers Mash Packs two-packs have now been released in the United States, where I’ve only spotted them thus far at Toys R Us for $24.99. I’ll keep my eyes peeled and post an update to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page when I spot them for cheaper somewhere else (I’d guess we’ll see these packs retail for $19.99-$21.99 in non-Toys R Us stores).
Is anyone besides me feeling tempted to give in to the dark side and pick up any of these newly-released Marvel Mashers action figures?
Well, the Upgrade Masher Hulk with similar accessories goes for $15 on it’s own, so if I can get a 2-pack for $20, that’s a good deal. I bought about 10 of the Wave 1 and 2 figures, but got them around 40% off retail prices with WMT price match, pull-off coupon, and TGT Redcard discount. If I can do that again before the coupons expire this month, I will consider it!
P.S. These are selling on Amazon for about $40 and they are in stock with AMZN Fulfillment, which means the seller must have had them about a week ago. Not sure how they got them so early.
Soooooo getting both of these.
I saw these in my tru, while looking jubilee legends,I’m not sure what to make of the DocOck,Loki- green and gold mean team..?? Lemme think about it while I complete my Hydra minimate army,Jubilee, and Groot-Baf,SDCC Legends box set and Marvel Infinite wave3…etc.
The Loki I saw looked cross eyed(and still does in these pics). I don’t want Hulk or Spidey,so it ain’t lookin good for me to purchase these. I have Venom,Dr.Doom(s),Iron Patriot,The Falcon,Tony Stark and his Marvel Now armour. So,it is not like I hate these toys.AND now there is a Transformer line of these too!! Btw: Dabid you sound like me when I resisted collecting minimates! LoL! Resistance is useless. Come to the masherside!
