With a month and a half to go until the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 mega-event, most companies have already dropped the curtain and unveiled the details on their SDCC 2014 exclusives. Today we can add Diamond Select Toys to that list, as they’ve now revealed their Marvel Minimates exclusive set for SDCC 2014: the X-Men Days of Future Past Minimates box set is now up for pre-order! We may not be getting much in the way of X-Men Days of Future Past movie toys, but now we at least have some more comic-based X-Men Days of Future Past figures to look forward to…
The exclusive Days of Future Past Minimates set will be limited to 3,000 sets produced (which ought to be plenty), and will include Future Wolverine, Future Kitty Pryde, Mystique and Sentinel Minimates. Technically this Sentinel is labeled as a “future” Sentinel, but he’s a dead-ringer for a classic Sentinel as well.
There will also be an exclusive variant cover Uncanny X-Men #23 comic book at the show (limited to 5,000 copies). Ordinarily I couldn’t care less about comic variant covers, but this one’s got Marvel Minimates figures on the cover, including the Future Wolverine and Future Kitty Pryde figures included in this year’s box set exclusive. Now that’s a cool toy tie-in!
The X-Men Days of Future Past Marvel Minimates box set is now available for order online, and will also be available in-person at San Diego Comic Con 2014. It is entirely possible (and maybe even probable) that there will be other Marvel Minimates SDCC 2014 Exclusives available from other retailers (such as AFX), but the Marvel Minimates X-Men Days of Future Past figures box set will be the only Marvel Minimates exclusive sold directly through the Diamond Select Toys booth at the event.
What do you think about the X-Men Days of Future Past Minimates set, Marvel fans? Is this set an appropriate exclusive for the year in which the best X-Men movie ever was released based on the “Days of Future Past” comic book storyline?
They look co cool! Love the variant cover!
