SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends Collector & Grandmaster Set!

When Hasbro announced a singular Retro Marvel Legends Vintage Hulk figure as a San Diego Comic Con 2019 exclusive last week, pretty much every long-time Marvel Legends collector predicted we’d be seeing another offering before too long. And sure enough, we get to start off this week’s Marvel toy news with a second item for next month’s major event: the SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends Collector & Grandmaster 6” figure two-pack has now been revealed!

Marvel Legends Collector Grandmaster Figures Two Pack Packaged

One of the biggest surprises at New York Toy Fair 2019 (for those who didn’t read the leaks, anyway) was the first-ever Marvel Legends Jeff Goldblum figure, with The Grandmaster coming in a Thor Ragnarok Two-Pack with Korg as part of the 80th Anniversary Series.

That ML Grandmaster figure is due out in August, but fans attending San Diego Comic Con will get first dibs on a Grandmaster action figure, as Jeff Goldblum will be part of a different two-pack available exclusively at SDCC!

SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends Box Back Grandmaster CollectorBasically, this is the same Grandmaster Legends figure as the one coming in the 80 Years series, but with a different head and an extra accessory. Not only will this action figure include the Melting Rod from the regular pack, but this time you’ll even get a bubbling blue pile of Goo! Now that is a unique accessory!

And while I like the serious-faced Jeff Goldblum portrait from the mass release figure just fine, there’s no denying that the con exclusive smiling head is tons of fun. Thumbs up.

Hasbro SDCC 2019 Exclusive Grandmaster and The Collector FiguresThe other half of the 2019 SDCC Marvel Legends two-pack is a 100% new character with a lot of new tooling who is not currently announced to be released anywhere else: the first-ever 6” Marvel Legends Collector figure! Other than the pants, which I believe may be recycled from an earlier figure, I believe this The Collector action figure is a totally new figure.

You get two Benicio Del Toro heads with the figure—one with glasses and one without—as well as a removable cape, the Orb from Guardians of the Galaxy, and a cardboard cutout container with Cosmo the Space Dog printed on it. Great likeness; smart accessories. A shame we don’t get an actual 6″ scale Cosmo figure here, as I’d have honestly liked that more than anything else in the set, but a nice toy nonetheless.

It’s always tough to see a unique character as a con-only exclusive, but if it’s going to happen, I prefer it be with ultra-niche character like The Collector. This looks superb and I’ll be thrilled to add him to my collection. Grandparents at Walmart also won’t accidentally pick this up for a kid who won’t want it. Everybody wins.

Marvel Legends Collector Grandmaster Figures Two Pack Packaged
The Marvel Legends Grandmaster & Collector two-pack will be available first at San Diego Comic Con 2019 next month for $49.99, with some sets being held back to sell at other conventions and also on Hasbro Pulse. I’ll send out alerts via the Marvel Toy News Facebook, Twitter and Instagram once the set goes up for order on Hasbro Pulse, as it very possibly will sell out quickly.

Thoughts on this second Marvel Legends SDCC 2019 announcement, Marvel collectors? If this is the last ML exclusive for the event (and it very likely will be), are you satisfied with this year’s offerings? Or would you have liked something else instead?

  1. “A shame we don’t get an actual 6″ scale Cosmo figure here, as I’d have honestly liked that more than anything else in the set, but a nice toy nonetheless.”

Ha, same honestly. But yeah, this is a pretty nice set. Don’t think I’ll get it myself, but still, nice.

  2. man the collector is one of my most wanted ml sadly i won’t be able to get to sdcc maybe through ebay.

  3. really diggin’ this A LOT! I’m a HUGE Jeff Goldblum fan as well as how he played the Grandmaster! unfortunate that he’s being released twice with SO MANY figures I could think of that deserve some attention! The Collector is BRILLIANT!!!! Love what ML did with this set. I just hate the doubling up on Grandmaster & how ML is TEASING us with a cardboard picture of poor COSMO. haha. GREAT FIGURES! unfortunately i don’t believe in paying over retail unless it’s got to do with X-MEN or CLASSIC SPIDER-MAN !!! But Hopefully I can work something out to grab one of these sets. Wish they just had BOTH heads for the GM what’s the difference really. they know they’re gonna sell BOTH sets. I don’t really care for KORG so I’d choose this set if it wasn’t an exclusive. Maybe i’ll get lucky on PULSE!?! HAVE A GREAT TIME EVERYONE ATTENDING SDCC! Thanks for the great updates MTN!!! it’s appreciated!

  4. I really hope I can snag one when they go up for sale on Pulse. I’ve wanted an MCU Collector for a while (oh, if only Cosmo was the accessory and not just a decoration…) and that Goldblum sculpt looks fantastic.

  5. This is on my “must have” list! You can see the velcro in the back side, so the set will come as a cylindrical package. Not that I’m complaining…But it would have been great if Hasbro offered both comic and cinematic versions of the Collector and Grandmaster separately using the cylindrical packaging concept, You have the cinematic version on one side, and then rotate it 180 degrees for the comic version.

  6. This is unrelated but I was wondering how Gamestop get exclusives that are from other stores. I found the Funko dark pheonix from walmart there. I also got the Target two pack exclusive with Hawkeye and Black widow, is this a common thing or something because I never knew they did this or how they are allowed to do it. My Funko was exact number and all and the two pack same thing. Also I am trying to sell 6 exclusive figures one being worthy cap and binary cap and my question is what is fair price to sell these at. I am using the money for help with a hot toy purchase. I just do not want to price to high or low but these took a lot of time to get and I was hoping for some feedback.

    • I have not seen any other exclusives appearing at my local Gamestops, so I can’t speak to that. As for selling stuff, eBay is a good gauge of what’s the going price. Worthy Caps usually sells for about $30 + shipping, while Binary Cap Marvel sells for about $38 shipped. So factoring in your own shipping cost, you’re looking to make about $10 profit each. Of course, both of these figures are just starting to hit stores, so while the demands are there, but people aren’t desperate yet. I’m speaking from experience as I’m also looking for a Binary Cap Marvel, but I’m willing to wait a bit in hope of Walmart getting restock and getting her at retail.

    • Thanks for scalping and making it hard for everyone else to get those exclusives.

      • I do not feel like it is scalping, I am asking how to price it so it is fair. Also these took me a lot of hours to obtain and I always only bought one. Unlike some people who would buy the whole shelf right in front of me. So if you want these toys do what I did go to 10 walmarts and maybe get lucky because I did not, it took multiple times to go to multiple stores, but do not act like I am the one who made it hard for people. I put in the work to get them and always was considerate when buying. If you are lazy and do not want to go out there and get them that is your problem not mine, I am not buying out whole shelves I just want to get a hot toys figure I am not making millions here. your passive aggressive comment tells me your the type of person that does not put in the work to get these and then complains about not having them. I would rather go out there and try then just complain and be demeaning to people. This is the first time I have even sold Legends if I was scalping I would not ask what a fair price would be. You just need to stop making assumptions and stop complaining. You might actually get something if you just make the effort like I did. Since you feel like you can judge me I just did the same. Stop being lazy and go get them and stop complaining because you are lazy. If you were a cool person I would have asked which one you had trouble finding and let you know if there are some by me and we could trade figures even. No need for being so demeaning and providing no insight to the question I asked and judging me for wanting to be a fair person and not screw people over. I value my time and have to pay for the gas it takes to get these and all of it is going to another collection anyways. You should try changing your attitude and maybe you will see a noticeable change on how people respond to you.

        • Don’t disenfranchise legends collectors for an overpriced/overrated hot toys purchase. Simple.
