Sentinel Armorize Iron Man Figure Photos & Pre-Order!

If you haven’t heard of the toy company Sentinel, don’t feel too ashamed. The Asian toy manufacturer Sentinel is best known stateside for its well-done Attack on Titan statues and small smattering of Transformers products, which are its most relevant properties for the western audience. But with the Marvel Cinematic Universe conquering the world, Sentinel is ready to descend and claim their piece of the Marvel collectibles pie, and they’re starting with Marvel’s current most marketable character: the Sentinel Armorize Iron Man figure is now up for order!

Iron Man Sentinel Armorize Action Figure

I haven’t talked about Sentinel before because they’re a real rarity among toy companies: one that I don’t own any products from. Attack on Titan traumatized me and I don’t collect super-pricey Transformers anymore (even Sentinel’s humongous Scorponok and Black Zarak Transformers), so I just haven’t had the need yet to buy anything from the company.

But then Sentinel Co. LTD had to go and get the license to make Iron Man figures from Marvel, meaning I have to really step up and take notice of them.

RE Edit Iron Man Extremis Armor Figure SentinelThis Armorize Iron Man Sentinel figure is actually the second Iron Man figure that Sentinel has put up for pre-order, as their super-pricey RE:Edit Iron Man Extremis Armor figure went up for order earlier this fall. While the Sentinel RE:Edit Extremis Iron Man figure purposely takes some liberties with the design of the Extremis armor, the Armorize Iron Man armor is much more true to its comic-based roots.

Sentinel Toys Armorize Iron Man FigureAt a glance, this import figure might look like it’s also modeled after the ever-popular Iron Man Extremis Armor. It’s not.

Armorize Iron Man Sentinel Import Action Figure Seven Inch 2014Instead, Sentinel chose to base the Armorize Iron Man figure’s look off of the lesser-known Iron Man Pentagon Armor, which is quite similar to the Extremis Iron Man armor but far more bulky. Thus, while the Sentinel Armorize Iron Man figure may look off-model if you’re expecting the Extremis mode, Sentinel has actually done a nice job of capturing the usually-forgotten Pentagon Iron Man armor instead.

Sentinel Tony Stark Iron Man Head Armorize FigureUnfortunately, the main gimmick of the Sentinel Ltd. Armorize Iron Man figure is that you can take off the figure’s armor. In theory, the idea of armoring up Tony Stark into Iron Man sounds pretty neat. Unfortunately, that also means taking off Iron Man’s helmet and revealing the Tony Stark head sculpt that Sentinel has crafted. *shudder*

Sentinel Armorize Iron Man Tony Stark Head with Moving Eyes

I don’t know what reference artwork Sentinel based this Tony Stark portrait off of, but I think they’re confusing Tony Stark with Dr. Strange (or the Klingons from the original Star Trek series). This head sculpt looks downright awful to me, and the creepy moving eyes that the figure has don’t help matters at all.

I really like the concept of this Sentinel Iron Man action figure and could probably look past the 7″ scale that will only fit with Marvel Select figures and not Marvel Legends figures, but the terrible Tony Stark head kills it for me (well, that and the $115 price-point for a 7″ action figure).

Sentinel Iron Man Armorize Action Figure Holding HelmetThe Sentinel Iron Man Armorize figure is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled to be released in December 2014. I don’t know how Sentinel plans on accomplishing this when the figure apparently hasn’t even had its final approval yet from Disney/Marvel, but that’s their supposed release date and they’re sticking to it.

Thoughts on the Sentinel Armorize Iron Man figure, Marvel collectors? Is this high-priced 7″ figure one you’d be interested in adding to your collection, or does this high-end priced figure not worth it to you?
