Toy Fair 2015: Funko Hikari Iron Man & Hulk Revealed!

I have developed a new Marvel collecting problem over the last year, and that problem is called Funko Hikari. See, Funko charges $80 each for their Hikari Sofubi vinyls; Hikaris take up a ton of space, and Funko releases a half-dozen colorways of every mold. And I’ve bought all the Marvel ones so far. All of them. So at New York Toy Fair 2015, my heart soared–and my wallet cried–when the Funko Hikari Hulk and Iron Man figures were revealed!

Some readers might think that I’m exaggerating when I describe my weakness for the Funko Hikari Sofubi Vinyls, but I am absolutely not. I love the heck out of these things–which is why I spent more money on Hikari vinyls in 2014 than on anything other than Hot Toys figures.

So while I cower in terror of having to pay for them, my heart sing with joy to see a half-dozen plus never-before-seen Funko Hikari Marvel vinyls at New York Toy Fair 2015!

Funko Hikari Iron Man Metallic Figure NY Toy Fair 2015The seven new Marvel Hikari at the 2015 Toy Fair were:

  • Funko Hikari Iron Man (Metallic)
  • Funko Hikari Hulk (Regular)
  • Funko Hikari Red Hulk (Metallic)
  • Funko Hikari Green Hulk (Clear Glitter with Pink Shorts)
  • Funko Hikari Green Hulk (Metallic & Clear Glitter)
  • Funko Hikari Grey Hulk (Clear Glitter)
  • Funko Hikari Distressed Hulk

New York Toy Fair 2015 Funko Hulk Distressed Hikari FigureI almost missed the Distressed Hulk Hikari figure on the bottom shelf of the POP! Vinyls display (next to the awesome Star Wars Funko Hikari Bloody Wampa!), but I’m glad I didn’t–it’s a great-looking and very different Hulk Sofubi vinyl compared to all the rest.

Funko Hikari NY Toy Fair 2015 Iron Man Star WarsThere was only one Funko Iron Man Hikari on display, but make no mistake–Funko will make plenty of variants of ol’ Shellhead. Plenty.

Previously, Funko was only able to produce 8″ and larger Marvel Hikari figures.

But beginning with Hulk and Iron Man, Funko is now able to make 6″ Marvel Hikari vinyl Sofubi figures–the same size as the standard Hikaris! That means now you can finally recreate the Funko Hikari Marvel & My Little Pony Rainbow Dash figure team-up we’ve all always dreamed of on equal terms!

Could we see $39.99 Hikari Marvel Vinyls in the future, now that the Funko Marvel sofubi vinyls themselves are in line with rest of the Hikaris? The Funko reps were quiet on that point, but I really, really hope so.

Could you see yourself laying down $40-$80 each for these gorgeous interpretations of classic Marvel characters, or are stylized renditions of Iron Man and Hulk just not worth those big bucks to you?

  1. I’ll just say this, I wish Funko would just make a 6″ Hulk like they did for the Wampa. I would love to see a Banner figure next to a 6″ Hulk! After all they made a 6″ Hulk Buster. I wouldn’t mind if they were even to slightly different scale. IE 5″ next to a 6″ Iron Man HB. My biggest pet peeve with Funko is that they never make things to scale. Like Rocket should be half his size. But that’s what the key chains are for.
