Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron 2.5″ Figures Revealed!

When Hasbro marched out the Guardians of the Galaxy 2.5″ figures last year, they weren’t exactly met with abundant love and praise. While the smaller scale allowed Hasbro to produce affordable in-scale vehicles, the figures themselves were lacking in articulation, paint apps and sculpting detail, making them some of the most collector-derided Marvel figures of 2014. Collectors used to the Marvel Universe style of super-articulated 3 3/4″ figures were just not impressed. And it looks like they’ll continue to be unimpressed in 2015, as a series of Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron 2.5″ figures is on the way… along with a Quinjet and Avengers Tower playset!

There’s good news for Avengers collectors, and then there’s “not-so-good-news” for Avengers collectors. The good news is that Hasbro will actually be producing an Avengers Tower playset in their summer Avengers Age of Ultron toy line! The not-so-good-news is that, well… you’re going to have to buy quite a few sets to build it.

Scaled for the upcoming 2.5″ Avengers Age of Ultron figure line, the Avengers HQ Playset will have a modular design where it will be built via collecting different smaller figure dioramas and playsets, such as the $20 Hulkbuster Breakout set (seen below) with Hulkbuster Iron Man and Hulk action figures.

Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron Action Figures Three InchIn total, collectors (and kids!) wanting to complete their Hasbro Avengers Headquarters set will have to purchase four sets to get all the chunks of Avengers Tower: the $20 each Hulkbuster Breakout, Captain America Tower Defense, Iron Man Lab Attack; and the $30 Cycle Blast Quinjet vehicle.

I heard that some people really enjoyed last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy space ships in the 2.5″ scale (in fact, those are the only part of that line I heard anyone say they liked), and this new 2.5″ scale Avengers Quinjet looks to be of a similar style and quality.

Iron Man Lab Attack Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron SetI’m more a playset kind-of-guy than a vehicles kind-of-guy when it comes to superheroes, so I’m a tiny bit more intrigued by this line than I was by Hasbro’s 2″ Guardians of the Galaxy figures, but it’s still not looking likely at all that I’ll collect this particular scale of Avengers 2 movie action figures.

What do you think of Hasbro’s small-scale Avengers: Age of Ultron movie toys, Marvel collectors? Does the inclusion of a Quinjet and an Avengers HQ Tower playset win you over, or are the low-articulation, low-detail 2.5″ Avengers Age of Ultron action figures just not for you?

  1. I just don’t understand. Every store I go to still has GoG 2.5″ figures fully stocked because nobody wants them. They must be so cheap to make that they only need to sell 1 out of every case to make it profitable because that’s about all that’s selling. All these 2.5″ figures are just peg warmers. They remind me of dollar store toys.

    • well. to be fair.

when i played with toys when i was like…i dunno…8-10, as long as i had the figure of the character i liked…i didnt care.

this is when the only articulation was the head, the stiff leg, and the stiff arm.

id just bang them together anyway. not craft them into poses and sit back and be like “damn look at how sick this looks in this position”

they have to have tested these with kids… and they probably tested well in this scale for a specific age.

then when kids watch the movie…what do you think the parents are gonna buy? the cheapest, smallest of the toys…and with ships and buildings and PLAY sets.

they get em when they’re young..then they grow up…and start buying the legends…whatever whatever.

      its the entire ecosystem.

      • I love this comment because “Damn look at how sick this looks in this position.” Too funny.

  2. Knowing that this is a thing they’re doing makes me want to go back and purchase those GoG toys. I typically only get 3.75 figures so they’re all compatible (Star Wars, Marvel, DC, thunder cats, etc). I kind of like the little ones but was holding out for larger GoG toys. If this is the new size then it’s what I’m going to buy.

  3. I was a big fan of MASK figures (same scale) growing up, so the GoG figs were just fine to me. Now I can have my ultimate “Iron Man joins the Guardians” comic adventure on my desk.
