Toy Fair 2018: Top 10 Marvel Legends Figures Revealed & Photos!

I’m back home from New York Toy Fair 2018, and after 14 hours of sleep, I’m ready to begin my coverage here on the site! I’ve already uploaded hundreds of photos to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page (and plenty more on our Facebook and Twitter), and those images will be making their way here to the main site throughout the week in comprehensive articles. But to begin, how about a little fun? Here’s my completely opinionated Top 10 Marvel Legends figures revealed at the 2018 Toy Fair!

Toy Fair 2018 Marvel Legends Spider-Ham Figure with Pork Grind Head

10. Marvel Legends Spider-Ham (Monster Venom Series)

I’ve got no doubt I’ll get some flack for putting Peter Porker on this list, but my eyes absolutely lit up when I saw ML Spider-Ham. While the articulation on this guy could certainly be improved (there’s not a lot), I love the smooth, cartoonlike look of the toy. And hey—the Pork Grind Head included that’s compatible with this wave’s Venom figure? That’s pure gold.

Marvel Legends Ant-Man Paul Rudd Head Sculpt New York Toy Fair 20189. Ant-Man (Avengers Infinity War Wave 2)

I’m not the biggest Ant-Man fan (at all), but it was a real “holy sh*t” moment when I walked into the Hasbro showroom and saw the Paul Rudd likeness on this figure. The zany smirk is one of the most fun, expressive, perfect actor heads we’ve ever seen from Hasbro, and they deserve mad props for it.

Marvel Legends 2018 Bishop Figure Toy Fair8. Bishop (Deadpool Sauron Series)

As a 90s teen, I thought Bishop was just about the coolest thing in the world growing up. The character has had his ups and downs (well, more downs) in the past two decades, but it’s a real treat to get an updated 6” Bishop figure with long hair, scarf, BFG and classic costume.

New York Toy Fair 2018 Marvel Legends Sabertooth Figure7. Sabertooth (X-Men Apocalypse Series)

Hasbro debuted two new Apocalypse wave figures at New York Toy Fair, and one of them makes my top 10 list. While I wasn’t as impressed as I expected by the All-New All-Different Magneto, this 90s-looking Sabertooth does the trick for me. A worthy update of the Toybiz Series 5 Sabertooth after around a decade and a half. Terrific stuff.

Marvel Legends Doc Ock 2018 Toy Fair6. Doc Ock (Spider-Man SP//DR Series)

There are some nice figures in the Marvel Legends 2018 Spider-Man Wave 2 series, but Doc Ock is the only one from the SP//DR series to make this list. The sculpt and proportions on this Marvel Legends Doctor Octopus look spot-on, and I like that the tentacles are interchangeable (though I would have preferred strong bendable tentacles).

2018 Toy Fair Hasbro Marvel Legends Pepper Potts Gwyneth Paltrow5. Pepper Potts (10 Years of Marvel Studios Legends)

Iron Man 3 is my second-favorite Marvel movie, so I was on cloud nine to finally see a Marvel Legends Pepper Potts announced. Hasbro picked the perfect “action scene” Gwyneth Paltrow, although honestly, the real attraction here is being able to own a 6” figure of the hottest woman in the MCU (sorry, Natalie Portman).

Marvel Studios Legends Ronan Figure Toy Fair4. Ronan (10 Years of Marvel Studios Legends)

When Hasbro released their first-ever Guardians of the Galaxy Legends series back in 2014, something was missing from the set. Oh yeah—a villain. We finally got Yondu and Nebula figures last year, but fans feared the ship had sailed on a Marvel Legends Ronan. Thankfully, that’s not the case—Lee Pace is captured wonderfully in this picture-perfect exclusive Ronan the Accuser movie figure that’s already up for order.

Toy Fair 2018 Marvel Legends Yellowjacket Figure3.  Yellowjacket (10 Years of Marvel Studios Legends)

A second Ant-Man character managed to make my list—craziness! While I thought the actual Yellowjacket character in the Ant-Man movie was your typical poorly-developed villain, his costume was damn cool. I was always disappointed no toy company gave us a good Yellowjacket figure—but now we’ve got a downright masterpiece of one. Sweetness.

Marvel Legends Mandarin New York Toy Fair 20182. Mandarin (10 Years of Marvel Studios Legends)

Please don’t throw rocks at me. =P

I fell in love with the subversive elements of Iron Man 3 when I first saw it, and one of the primary things I loved about the movie was Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin. The likeness on this figure is fantastic, and it’s nice to finally got a movie Mandarin figure after Hasbro first showed one off four years ago.

Marvel Legends Sauron Build-A-Figure Toy Fair 20181. Sauron Build-A-Figure (Deadpool Wave 2)

When I walked up to the Sauron BAF, my drooly jaw just about hit the floor. The detail on this figure is absolutely incredible, and finally getting a 6” Sauron the Dinosaur Man is just… wow, there are no words. This is a beauty of a mutant pterodactyl man, and easily my most-anticipated Hasbro figure of the year thus far.

…And there you have it! My Top 10 Marvel Legends Figures of New York Toy Fair 2018! I’m not conceited enough to think that my tops will be the same as yours, so let’s hear it, Marvel collectors: what were your Top 10 Marvel Legends figures revealed at the 2018 Toy Fair?

Toy Fair 2018: Top 10 Marvel Legends Figures Revealed & Photos! — 34 Comments

  1. My faves are:
    1. The new Thing, 2. Ronan, 3. Mandarin, 4. Sairon, 5. Doc Ock, 6. Movie Sif, 7. Crossbones,

  2. Sooooo..a Gwyneth Patrow figure (that doesn’t even look like Gwyneth Paltrow) in the outfit (and IM arm) she wore fighting Aldrige Killian with no Killian figure is “the perfect action scene” for her?!? It’s YOUR “opinionated” list so ok, but “perfect kinda means nothing wrong and everything considered. No Killian means no one for her to pose against. Kinda NOT perfect.

Oh and Sauron isn’t “The Dinosaur Man”. That’s Stegron. Speaking of, my faves are:

    1-Sauron 6-Thing
    2-Sabretooth 7-Bishop
    3-Cloak & Dagger 8-ANAD Magneto
    4-ANAD Daredevil 9-Doctor Octopus
    5-Multiple Man 10-Ultimate Rider Logan

  3. not in any particular order:
    1. Doc Ock
    2. Magneto
    3. Sabretooth
    4. Sauron
    5. Thing
    6. MCU Ronan
    7. MCU Ant-Man
    8. MCU Red Skull/ Hydra soldier
    9. Shadowland Daredevil (mostly i think the effect piece looks cool)
    10. Ultimate Rider Logan

Lots to get excited about and who knows if I’ll actually get all 10 of these. Still kind of reeling from all the waves coming out now (although only BP wave has reached my area at the moment)

  4. 1. Yellowjacket
    2. Doctor Octopus
    3. Red Skull
    4. Mandarin
    5. Ronan
    6. Kaine
    7. Sauron
    8. Ant-Man
    9. Bishop
    10. Sp//Dr

  5. WHAT FOLLOWS IS THE OPINION OF A TOTAL SCROOGE – SO IF YOU JUST WANT UPBEAT FLUFF READ NO FURTHER…you’ve been warned.

Honestly guys… the Spider-Ham is garbage. A single carded Playskool Hero???
I have no love for the character but even if I did, he’d be accessory worthy at best. Unless they were going to go the distance like they did with the MCU Rocket update and give decent articulation despite the size of the character there is no way they should be justifying him as a figure.

Glad I don’t collect MCU figures:

“Let’s bring our quality control/sculpt standards to where they should have been for years but with yet another price hike. Its -premium- now.”

    My Top 10:

    1. Ant-Man & Stinger
    2. ANAD Daredevil
    3. Silver Surfer
    4. Magneto
    5. Sauron
    6. Elektra
    7. Omega Red
    8. Thing
    9. MCU Red Skull (plan to dremel a comic Red Skull head to fit, the body looks pretty awesome)
    10. Doc Ock (upset by the fixed tentacles too =/)

I wanted to put Cloak and Dagger on the list but they don’t look promising from the photos I’ve seen so far. If Cloak’s cloak is a thick plastic then the body underneath will be a total waste – no mobility at all. It was the same issue faced by the ToyBiz Dr. Strange.

    • I like Doc Ock , Sabretooth , Sauron ,Cloak and dagger much …..
and disappointed on the Thing – we want a classic kirbyesque Thing – not a oversculpet art Cheese !!!!! And please give me Warpath and his brother !!!

And YES – STRONGGUY as BAF

  6. 1. Doc Ock – I’m not going to be shocked if we see another Doc Ock (either pre Superior casket version or post Clone Conspiracy young/thin body )
    2. Silver Surfer
    3. Thing – Dr Doom has to be coming soon, right? Annihilus is next from Walgreens inventory leaks, I think, so maybe in 2019?
    4. Spider-Ham – adorable – kind of hope he comes with a Benji accessory from SV
    5. Carnage and Venom w/the pretty awesome human heads w/symbiote pieces around them
    6. Sauron is beautiful, but I’m not an X-Men collector. He still gets a spot on my list
    7. Cloak & Dagger – still need Firestar, Demogoblin, Shriek and Carrion for the Maximum Carnage cast . . .
    8. SP//DR – it’s not even a BAF I care much about, but it looks really nice.
    9. Paul Rudd
    10. Scarlet Spider – still waiting for a 90s Kaine figure (and Spidercide from Space Venom, which seems very easy and also super unlikely), but this is a necessary Spider-Verse figure – still waiting for Lady Spider and Spider-Man India and Morlun to finish that group up (Karn, too, but that seems like an ambitious hope).

  7. I am seriously excited for Spider-Ham, I’ve loved that character since I started reading comics in third grade back in the 80’s. I’ve wanted a ML Peter Porker for years! Finally! There are a lot of nice new figures, but that’s number 1 for me.

  8. The Thing and Sauron look so good, I’d pay twice over for them. Lots of other goodies, but those two stand out most for me.

  9. 10. Rudd-Man
    9. Doc Ock
    8. Elektra
    7. Robert Money Jr. (Not an autocorrect typo; the guy is simply MONEY)
    6. Silver Surfer
    5. MCU Scarlet Witch/Vision
    4. MCU Sif
    3. Mohawk Storm
    2. Unmasked Killmonger/Ross
    1. Movie Version DeadpoollllllllOh wait; there WAS no Movie Version Deadpool Marvel Legends toy, because someone at Hasbro is FLIPPIN’ ALLERGIC TO FLIPPIN’ PRINTING FLIPPIN’ MONEY!!!

  10. 1. Cloak
    2. Dagger
    3. Black Knight
    4. Ant-Man (comic)
    5. Silver Surfer
    6. Elektra
    7. Thing
    8. Stinger
    9. Carnage
    10. Sabretooth

  11. Mcu ghost
    Mcu whiplash
    Blizzard
    Nightcrawler
    Gambit
    Quicksilver
    Crimson dynamo
    Spike
    Cannonball
    Toad
    Pyro
    Boom boom
    Speed
    Ultimate doc ock
    Speedball
    Ghost rider (Robbie Reyes)

  12. Gods, there are SO MANY…. How do I do this?

All 3 Ant-Man’s are going to share one spot.

    1. Doctor Octopus
    2. Sauron BAF
    3. Yellowjacket
    4. Red Skull/HYDRA Soldiers
    5. MCU Ant-Man, MCU Ant-Man 2, and 616 Scott Lang
    6. Wasp
—–(Apocalypse BAF & Psylocke would go here, but he’s old news)—–
    7. Scarlet Spider
    8. Thing
The rest sort of share 9. and 10.:
    Vision
    Ronan
    Black Knight
    Cloak & Dagger
    SP//dr
    Spider-Ham
    Madarin

    Uh….

  13. 10. Scarlet Spider
    9. MCU Wasp
    8. Unmasked Carnage
    7. Scream
    6. Sabretooth
    5. MCU Red Skull
    4. Doc Ock
    3. MCU Ant-Man 1 and 2
    2. MCU Yellowjacket
    1. MCU Ronan

Vision, Crossbones and Lady DP would be on here, but I don’t consider them Tou Fair reveals per se.

  14. Based on the comments above, I’m excited that we will finally be getting a new Silver Surfer. I’m praying hard for a nice long board without a stupid fin.

  15. You lost me when you called Iron Man 3 your second favorite Marvel movie. One of my bottom all time movies ever for any genre. Then you called Gwenneth hot. I am at loss for words at this moment. However, you did nail Spider Ham as awesome, Doc Ock as a great figure and a nice Ant Man Rudd figure. So you gain some points back there. But sorry Iron Man 3 is horrible.

    • Says you and everyone else. =P

Even so, Iron Man 3 is the finest character study movie in the MCU short of GOTG Vol. 2, and does a wonderful job of subverting expectations and challenging preconceptions. As a look into what makes Tony Stark tick, I think it’s top-class. Love Iron Man 3. Your opinion can and does vary, and that’s cool too.

Oh, and Gwyneth Paltrow? Smokin’. 😉

  16. Being born in 1979 I am a 80’s and 90’s kid, mainly 90’s for comics and X-Men and Spider-Man were my books/cartoons of choice. I have to say I am loving this new X-Men wave the most, minus Gladiator..I just don’t care for the character and I would prefer a 90’s Magneto but Wolverine, Creed and Apocalypse are my favs, love the updated Sabretooth as he was and still is my fav character, and Apocalypse and the new tiger stripe Wolvie are spot on! Love the Doc Ock too!

  17. Worth noting – Sauron, or at the very least, his torso and possibly his legs are reused from the Amazing Spider-Man Lizard body. Heard some people saying what an awesome all-new sculpt it is and, well, it isn’t lol

  18. I am a little disappointed that Sabes seems to be suffering from the pizza Parker paint fails on the joint pegs, I’m sure I’ll have to fix those, and I wish he was a tad bigger. Being 6’6 and 275 if he fits in scale well it won’t be a real issue. And Gladiator really??? One figure away from being another perfect X-Men wave, would’ve loved a Nightcrawler or Gambit or 90’s Beast…anyone else really. Ah well one thing is for sure Creed will definitely be giving the little runt a good ol’ daily ass whooping in my collection!

  19. least all these movie figures coming out gives me a well needed rest to save money for ones I actually want

  20. How much of a moronic swine do you have to be to have liked IM3, especially for its asinine twists which ruined the plot and mandarin character
