2015 Marvel Legends Ant-Man Figure Confirmed!

“Will they or won’t they?” has been a hot topic of discussion among collectors regarding toy manufacturers’ plans for this summer’s could-be-big Marvel’s Ant-Man movie. Besides some Funko Wacky Wobblers, none of the big companies have said squat about Ant-Man thus far. But thanks to the handy-dandy Target DPCI database, we finally know for sure that a Marvel Legends Ant-Man figure is coming in 2015!

Marvel Legends Ant-Man Figure Confirmed Target DPCI

I don’t exactly have huge hopes for the Ant-Man movie’s success. Paul Rudd is great and all, but Ant-Man is a C-List Marvel character without the appeal of having a talking raccoon and tree in his supporting cast to win over the masses. I also started zoning out during the first Ant-Man trailer, which is never a good sign.

That said, Ant-Man is a character who’s desperately needed a new Marvel Legends 6″ figure for years, and it looks like he’ll finally be getting his due this spring, as a Target DPCI for a Marvel Legends Ant-Man Infinite Series figure (priced at $19.99) now exists.

To manage expectations: Don’t expect a full Marvel Legends Ant Man series. I’ve seen a lot of hopeful wish lists circulating including things like a new Marvel Legends Wasp and Stature and so forth, but I just don’t see that in the cards. I could be wrong (it does happen from time to time), but I foresee this Ant-Man Marvel Legends figure being a one-off action figure (perhaps as a store exclusive), rather than a whole series of Marvel Legends Ant-Man figures.

I have a hunch we won’t be seeing or hearing about this Hasbro Ant-Man Marvel Legends figure until the 2015 New York Toy Fair next month, but I’ll post an update here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page if any other details surface before then.

Marvel collectors: Are you happy to see a new Marvel Legends Ant Man figure on the horizon, or do you think the film will be a bust? Are you hoping that this upcoming figure is comic-inspired or movie-based?

  1. Don’t know if this means anything but when I punched in the dcpi number at my local target it said Marvel Legends Infinite Deluxe.

  2. As long as all the figures shown from SDCC for the second Avengers line of 2015 (i.e. Hellcat, Valkyrie, and 616 Spider-Woman) don’t get delayed, I’ll be happy. I’m sure the Toy Biz Ant-Man will still be superior, but if Hasbro plans on releasing a comic-accurate Ant-Man (in addition to the slew of movie figures), then I’m all for it. They better include a 6″ Wasp figure that matches the MU one released last year, or talk about a fail. I wonder what the BAF will be.

  4. I’m all for a Marvel Legends Ant-Man, he is one of my favorite Marvel characters. I do agree that trailer last night was a bit of a dud though.

Oh and I really hope its a comic Ant-Man rather than that movie costume because I am not a fan of that costume.

  5. One last thing, updates on this website or on Twitter would be appreciated for non-Facebook users like myself.

  6. Nice! Hope is comic design and no the movie. I don’t disagree the movie costume, just prefer the comic version for every Marvel Legend.

    • Indeed. I agree. Except when the two are very close in their designs like Spiderman,Hulk,Ironman,Nick Fury,Groot or a movie guy like Agent Coulson. I took movie(still in the box) Rocket’s rifle and gave it to legendsBAF comic Rocket in my GOTG display along with BAF Groot.

  7. I hope the movie isn’t bad… the trailer could have been better!
I’d like a movie accurate AntMan. Already have comic book versions.

  8. 19.99 I think it’s just targets naming because the other legends all have different tag labels.

  9. I agree there will probably only be a single figure, not a series. A 6″ Wasp would be great, though. And Ant-Man Legends series could have an interesting BAF–Toybiz already ddi Giant-Man so..how about Clint Barton Goliath? I am a dreamer!

    • Clint Bartron Goliath? I would COMPLETELY lose it. That would be awesome! They should do a run of all the growing charaters… Goliath, Black Golaith, Atlas…
