We’re approaching the end of another month, and that means it’s once again time for a fresh round of Diamond Select Toys reveals and solicitations! Those hoping for an all-new Marvel Select figure or Minimates set will be disappointed, but DST still has an impressive crop of new and returning products to choose from, including the first X-Men Jubilee bust ever, a reissue of the rare Thor 1 Loki Select movie figure and more!
The May 2022 Diamond Select solicitations for Marvel feel a bit weird in that this is a rare skip month where there’s no new Skottie Young Marvel Animated Statue being offered, but DST still had a heap of Marvel items solicited that will put smiles on many faces!
While not everything being solicited is actually new, per se, every Marvel item is something a group of fans will be delighted about.
The headliner for me is the X-Men Animated Jubilee bust, as I’ve been pining away for a bust of this exact iteration of Jubilation Lee ever since I saw a Bowen Designs mini bust for the first time in the late 90s. This will be the first time a licensed resin Jubilee statue of any kind has ever been released, and I am filled with hype about it.
From the ludicrous looking ensemble of yellow coat/gloves and pink visor glasses to pearlescent fireworks, this is basically all I ever wanted from a Jubilee mini bust. Another smash hit addition to Diamond Select’s X-Men Animated busts lineup !
And speaking of that series, collectors who were scared their X-Men roster would forever be incomplete without Charles Xavier can take heart: the previously canceled X-Men Animated Professor X bust is back, now with a higher (and more logistically feasible) price-point.
I was super-bummed this had to be canceled a few months back due to rising production costs, but I will be happy to pay a bit more to have this 90s Xavier on my shelf, personally.
Chuck isn’t the only Marvel character making a return in this batch of solicits, though: Two Marvel Select figures of yesteryear are also on the comeback trail!
As you might expect with the Multiverse of Madness Doctor Strange sequel hitting theaters shortly, DST is preparing a new printing of their movie-based Marvel Select Doctor Strange figure from 2017. This figure sold out swiftly after release, so fans who missed it will be glad to have another shot.
Although perhaps not as glad as fans who’ve been waiting well over a decade for a rerelease of the Marvel Select Loki figure! This armored Loki from Thor 1 has traditionally been one of the most sought after and expensive Marvel Select MCU movie figures on the aftermarket, so seeing it return after so very long for under 30 bucks is a bit surreal.
Rounding out the announcements is a new What If…? Marvel Gallery Captain Carter PVC statue! This version of Peggy Carter has become popular across TV, games and merch, so I’m happy to see DST take an interest in her. I’m not invested enough to want the $200+ Hot Toys Captain Carter, but this 10” PVC may perfectly meet my needs.
I think Marvel Gallery PVCs are a good medium for the What If…? art style, so I’m definitely intrigued to see if DST has anything planned beyond Peggy.
The new X-Men Animated busts, Marvel Select reissues and Captain Carter statue are all up for pre-order now, and expected to arrive in October 2022. EE has the best prices I’ve seen on these across the board, and you can use code “SPRINGFREE22” right now to get free shipping on any combined order totaling above $39.
I locked in my Jubilee and Professor X busts instantly already as I don’t dare risk missing out. What about you, fellow Marvel collectors? Anything in this set of Diamond Select Toys solicitations a must-have for your shelf?
