Although the marketing for Avengers: Agenof Ultron was so huge that we were already being inundated with prototypes for upcoming collectibles, the toys and collectibles blitz for Ant-Man has been a lot more… well, microscopic. But now that we’re just a minuscule two months away from the Ant-Man movie, the figures are finally coming out of the woodwork (just like ants!): the Funko POP Vinyls Ant-Man and Yellowjacket are now up for order!

Though Disney/Marvel tried (unsuccessfully) to keep Yellowjacket under wraps, LEGO accidentally leaked confirmation of the existence of Yellowjacket at the New York Toy Fair 2015. As such, it didn’t take a genius to deduce that the “secret” Funko and Minimates Ant-Man character would be Yellowjacket. And–no surprise–it is!!

Whereas the designs of Marvel Funko POP Vinyls can sometimes be a little simplistic, the Ant-Man and Yellowjacket POP Vinyl figures are anything but. In fact, I think the Ant-Man POP Vinyl just may be Funko’s most striking and eye-grabbing Marvel figure yet.

I’m still a bit skeptical of the quality of the upcoming Ant-Man movie itself, but the detailing on Scott Lang’s vinyl figure made it an instant pre-order for me. This figure may actually challenge the Marvel Select Ant-Man figure as my favorite Ant-Man collectible that we’ve seen revealed thus far!

I’ve already seen some folks voicing their confusion about what’s going to be in the Antman-themed June Marvel Collector Corps box, what with the POP Ant-Man and Yellowjacket being in this set and all items in the Funko Marvel Collector Corps boxes being unique.

However, it’s not a surprise that neither of these figures are exclusive to the MCC, as both figures were in the 2015 Toy Fair Funko catalog (though Yellowjacket was still marked “Confidential” at the time), and figures in the catalog are traditionally not exclusives.

All that said, I’d be absolutely shocked if the Marvel Collector Corps Ant-Man box doesn’t contain an unmasked Ant-Man POP Vinyl figure (and hopefully an Ant-Man Dorbz figure as well). I guess we’ll find out for certain in about a month and a half!

The Ant-Man Funko POP Vinyls figures are now up for order, and are scheduled to ship out in July 2015. The Avengers Age of Ultron POPs have been super-hot sellers in stores, and I’d love to see the Ant-Man vinyls carry forward that momentum!
