I’ve known it intellectually for a while, but due to the lack of fanfare and almost total absence of merchandising, it hadn’t really clicked in my head until recently that “Deadpool” was the next Marvel movie hitting theaters! But one company that absolutely did not forget is Funko, and they’re now unleashed a variety of pre-orders for items ranging from Deadpool Mopeez plushies to ceramic head mugs!

Back when Deadpool’s first solo comic book series was cancelled back when I was in my sophomore year of college, I had my doubts that ol’ Wade Wilson would ever get his own comic book again. But lo and behold, fast forward 14 years and Deadpool is about to be a household name with his own (hopefully) blockbuster movie! Whodathunkit?!

And to celebrate Wade hitting the big screen, Funko is releasing a panoply of new Funko Deadpool products that go beyond their flagship line of Funko POP Vinyls–and even past the up-and-coming Dorbz line!

My favorite of the new Deadpool releases is surprisingly not a vinyl figure at all–it’s the new assortment of Mopeez Deadpool plush toys!

While the standard red Deadpool plush Mopeez has been available for a couple of months now, three new canonical Deadpool costumes will be getting the Mopeez treatment in January: the X-Force costume, the blue X-Men costume, and the Yellow Deadpool costume (which I honestly have no idea where it comes from).

I know some folks will think that this is overkill, but I love love the looks of this set, and already pre-ordered all three new colorways–which is saying a lot, seeing as how I’ve skipped almost all of the unique character Mopeez released!

Meanwhile, the first-ever POP! Home Deadpool item will also see a release this winter, in the form of a ceramic Deadpool mug. We’ve had Deadpool mugs before, but this one is quite frankly way cuter than any before released by other companies.

I’m a Deadpool guy, so this zany mug is another no-brainer purchase for me.

Finally, we’ve got another release from the fledgling Vinyl Sugar imprint: Super Deluxe Deadpool! The Vinyl Sugar Super Deluxe Deadpool figure is the last of the three Super Deluxe figures shown at the New York Toy Fair 2015 to go up for pre-order, and coincidentally, also my favorite of the initial three releases in the line. The style of the Super Deluxe line is perfect for Deadpool, and his figure practically oozes with comic personality!

The $79.99 price-tag on the Vinyl Sugar Super Deluxe line definitely turns off plenty of folks, but I’ve loved this figure since I saw it in New York way back in February, and there’s no way that I’m going to miss this limited-release figure.

The new Deadpool plush, mug and vinyls are now up for order, and are all scheduled to be released in January/February 2016. It looks like Funko is the only company prepared to cash in on the Deadpool movie, so I expect that these Deadpool toys will all be selling like wildfire in the wake of the success (I hope) of the upcoming film.
