Hot Toys clearly knows what fans are anxious to see at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con 2013 convention this week, and they’re not the least bit shy about exposing tantalizing teaser photo after teaser photo! Following up on their preview images from earlier in the week of the Avengers Hot Toys Chitauri Footsoldier and Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Iron Man Gemini Armor and Iron Man Heartbreaker armor, they’ve got one more preview image for us before the show begins tomorrow: the much talked-about Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Iron Man Igor Mark 38 Figure!

Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Igor Iron Man Sixth Scale Figure SDCC 2013

Once we started seeing the plethora of Iron Man armors featured in this summer’s “Iron Man 3” movie revealed, there was one particular armor that caught a lot of eyes was the Iron Man Mark XXXVIII Igor armor! Though it in some ways resembles Hulkbuster Iron Man (it can’t be the Iron Man Hulkbuster armor for obvious reasons), the Igor Mark 38 Heavy Lifting Suit is an original design and armor in its own right and is the largest of the 35 new Iron Man armors that debuted in the Iron Man 3 film this summer (which I loved without reservations, by the way).Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Igor Mark 38 Heavy Lifting Suit Photo Teaser SDCC 2013Due to the gargantuan size and bulk of the Igor Iron Man armor, there was absolutely no way Hot Toys could have made an Igor Iron Man diecast Movie Masterpiece Series figure without it costing over half a grand. Instead, Hot Toys took the practical approach and is making this a plain old Movie Masterpiece Series Iron Man Mark 38 Igor Armor figure. Oh, make no mistake–this figure will still end up having a crazy price point of $350 or up, in my opinion, but it’s nowhere near the bank-breaker that a Hot Toys diecast Igor Iron Man would have been.

Hot Toys Iron Man Igor Armor Heavy Lifting Suit from SDCC 2013I know that some collectors are feeling a bit burned out on Hot Toys Iron Man figures, but the Hot Toys Igor Iron Man Mark 38 is truly one of the items I’m looking forward to seeing the most of any company at San Diego Comic Con 2013 this week. I’ll update later this week with photos, specs and any other details Hot Toys reveals about the Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Igor Iron Man Movie Masterpiece Series figure.

Well seeing that we now know ‘Igor’ is retailing for $510 and die-cast figures of ‘Iron Patriot’, ‘Mark 42’ and ‘War Machine 2’ are basically $50-$60 dollars more than what non die-cast figures would have basically been, I think it’s pretty safe to say a die-cast version of ‘Igor’ would not have been $1000. But I do think a die-cast version would have probably retailed for a good $700 or so.
