You would think that with several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies coming out almost every year for the past half decade that it wouldn’t be too hard to put together a set of the core Avengers team members in the Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ figures scale. But surprisingly, with the way that the MCU figures have been spread out over the course of different series, sets and years, it’s actually a challenging endeavor. That’s why Hasbro has devised what I think is one of the more appealing waves of totally-not-new figures I’ve ever seen: the Best of Marvel Legends 6″ series (with Hulkbuster Iron Man)! But if you’re in the U.S. and want this, you’re out of luck…
With that in mind, Hasbro is looking to make life easier for international collectors with a new “Best of Marvel Legends” six inch figures series that brings back nine of the most integral characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This includes figures like the Walmart Exclusive Avengers Loki Marvel Legends figure that’s extremely difficult to find and rare these days.
Of course, the catch is that collectors in the United States are out of luck for once. That’s right–as rumored, it looks like this case is going to be available only internationally. It was initially speculated that this wave would be exclusive to Europe, but it’s supposedly being solicited to Asian countries such as China now as well.
The Marvel Legends Avengers Best of Series Case Ratios are as follows:
(1) Captain America
(1) Iron Man Mark 43
(1) War Machine Mark II
(1) Age of Ultron Thor
(1) Black Widow
(1) Age of Ultron Hulk (1) Avengers Loki
(1) Avengers Hawkeye
Of course, you may have noticed something a little “extra” next to each of the figures (besides Thor) in the official photos: the Marvel Legends Hulkbuster Iron Man Build-A-Figure is coming back for a second day in the sun as well with this series!
Hulkbuster has been split into eight parts that will come with seven figures (just like in his first release), with each figure besides Thor including one part–with the exception of Marvel Legends Black Widow, who will contain both the front and back of Hulkbuster’s torso. (I’m also very pleased that it’s the standard black-costumed Black Widow here and not the one with the crazy Tron lighting stripes which made no sense.)
I’ve heard some folks say that they think that the Hulkbuster BAF has been repainted, but I don’t think that’s actually the case–I think it’s more likely an issue with the lighting in the photos than Hasbro releasing an international-exclusive Hulkbuster Build-A-Figure paint variant.
As of now, the only store that I’ve seen pre-selling cases of this Best of Marvel Legends figures series is Chinese retailer Robot Kingdom. You can import the cases to the United States if you really want, but shipping is (obviously) going to be a bit (or more than a bit) expensive since the cases are shipping from outside of the country.
As of now, there are no known plans for Hasbro to release this series of repacks in the United States, and I honestly don’t expect to see this wave ever brought out over here. I’ll update the Marvel Toy News Twitter and Facebook Pages if I should hear anything about this wave being released domestically.
Thoughts on this international exclusive series of “Best Of” Marvel Legends movie figures, collectors? Are you happy to see some rare gems like Marvel Legends Loki and Hawkeye brought back into production–at least in limited quantities, or do you think it’s a cheat for long-lost (and expensive on the aftermarket) figures like these to be returning for another (albeit limited) engagement?
That Loki is so bad….
I was lucky enough to get that Loki when it first hit shelves, it’s actually really good. It’s got a great Hiddleston likeness, and the helmet is removable. (None of these stock photos are particularly flattering.)
I just wish they would release the damn things period. Last year all the waves came out way to soon. This year I’ll be surprised if we even see all the waves shown before the end of the year. What the hell is up with the x men wave?! Ber it gets cancelled.
Distribution has been iffy, yes, but we’ve been consistently getting waves ever since Marvel Legends made the branding switch to Infinite- hell, we’ve even been getting figures thought canceled like Bulldozer and Tiger Shark- and in some cases, like Iron Fist and Hawkeye, improved versions of those figures.
Had this been 2012, when we were still stuck in the RoML era, where revision cases with variants were but a far-off dream and entire waves of Legends were MIA, I might agree, but that hasn’t been the case for years.
Patience, my friend, We will have the Deadpool and Cable-shaped holes in our Marvel Legends collections filled soon enough.
Disappointed we aren’t getting in the States; I’d love to actually finish my MCU team with a Thor and Hawkeye, plus finally having a shot at getting that impossible to find Loki. Money on the table, Hasbro.
Just ordered. Shipping was $60.
Where did you order from? Would like to buy too
Why do figures from China cost so much? Every cheap piece of plastic garbage from Wal-Mart comes from China, the U. S. has a trade agreement with China to bring costs down even further, and when I buy things online from Europe or Asia or even New Zealand things only cost a few extra bucks…but when we want an import figure from China it might cost an extra $100. I don’t get it!!!
I missed out on Loki when it hit shelves (mostly cause they were always sold out) Maybe when Thor Ragnarok come out they’ll release another one
I was lucky enough to find all these figures when they initially hit retail. The Loki may not look all that great in the photo, but is honestly one of my favorite movie likenesses in person. They nailed the likeness to Hiddleston, and the costume is spot on.
The only one I ever had trouble finding personally was Hawkeye.
