Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse Wave 2 Revealed! Falcon! Jocasta! Kang!

This is the first year in ages that I haven’t been travelling to New York City this fall to see Hasbro’s newest products in conjunction with New York Comic Con, but NYCC or no NYCC, Hasbro still has plenty of new Marvel goodness to reveal to us! During Hasbro PulseCon 2020 today, a variety of new collectibles were revealed–including the never-before-seen Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse Wave 2 Mister Fixit series that went up for order today, including Falcon, Jocasta, Kang and more!

Marvel Legends GamerVerse Avengers Wave 2 Figures

I wasn’t sure exactly what Hasbro might be revealing during today’s inaugural PulseCon, but I had high hopes that we’d see at least a few new 6″ scale figures (as we traditionally do during New York Comic Con week each year).

Thankfully, Hasbro not only had some new figures to show off–they had an entire wave to debut that hasn’t previously leaked online (wow, it’s been a while since that happened)! And while two of the figures in the Avengers GamerVerse Legends Wave 2 series (plus the Build-A-Figure) are based on the Square-Enix Avengers game, there’s four comic book based figures and plenty for comic fans to love as well!

Marvel Legends Joe Fixit Hulk Build-A-Figure

First up, let’s go big: the Marvel Legends Joe Fixit Build-A-Figure! I was expecting a video game Hulk BAF if we got a second wave for the game–but I definitely wasn’t expecting a Joe Fixit BAF in suit! I might have preferred a pinstripe suit like in the classic comics if given a choice, but it’s really fun to get this “gangster” version of the Jade Giant in 6″ scale form nonetheless.

Joe Fixit Marvel Legends 2021 Build-A-Figure

The Avengers Legends Joe Fixit Hulk Build-A-Figure has a new torso and awesome hat, but also reuses some of the pieces from last year’s Kingpin BAF for pieces like the arms and legs. It’s not my favorite BAF ever, but it’s fun.

Atmosphere Iron Man Marvel Legends GamerVerse Action Figure Packaged

Avengers GamerVerse Marvel Legends Atmosphere Iron Man Figure

The other two Square-Enix Avengers GamerVerse figures in this wave are, well… a little bit less thrilling. First up, we’ve got our third Avengers GamerVerse Iron Man Legends figure: Atmosphere Iron Man! We never got an Iron Man 3 House Party Protocol Blue Steel Iron Man Legends figures, so it’s nice to see this color scheme getting some action from Hasbro.

Marvel Legends GamerVerse Atmosphere Iron Man Figure Blue Armor

We don’t get tons and tons of blue armor permutations of Iron Man action figures, so that’s… okay… but I’ve got so many Iron Man figures at this point that it’s hard to get hyped up about this one. Nice of Hasbro to include an alternate video game Tony Stark portrait head, though!

Marvel Legends Stealth Captain America GamerVerse Figure Packaged

Avengers GamerVerse Marvel Legends Stealth Captain America Figure

I am even less excited about the other video game-based figure from this wave: Stealth Captain America. We don’t have a video game Black Widow or Hawkeye or many other characters, so getting a Cap in black costume is rather dull, IMO.

Marvel Legends GamerVerse Stealth Captian America with Photo Real Unmasked Head

I appreciate the Steve Rogers head and the black costume is kind of snazzy, but this has pegwarmer written all over it.

Marvel Legends Classic Falcon Figure Packaged

The remaining four figures in the wave are all comic book based characters, which I expect most fans are going to be very happy about. Hasbro is calling this Sam Wilson a “classic” Falcon, although it’s obviously classic in that it’s not Sam Wilson Captain America/Falcon, but not the iconic classic Falcon costume that was made by Toybiz or the vintage Secret Wars line.

Falcon Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse Series Figure

The energy wings are not my favorite look for this character, but I think we all knew this was coming when we got that Spider-Man Legends Vulture figure last winter. Even so, I love Falcon and this is a costume I don’t have an action figure of him wearing–so it’s a “buy” for me.

Marvel Legends Kang Figure Packaged Hasbro 2020

Avengers Marvel Legends Kang Figure

Next up is a new Marvel Legends Kang, a character that Hasbro has actually previously done a figure of over a decade ago–but now in a much nicer form!

Kang Marvel Legends Hasbro Avengers GamerVerse Figure

This Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse Series 2 Kang figure is a 100% new sculpt, complete with sculpted lines running down the legs and a very cool ruffled tunic. I wonder what other characters Hasbro can use this new tooling for? Hmmmm…

Marvel Legends Thunderstrike Figure Packaged

Closing things out, we’ve got two characters who have never been produced as 6″ Marvel Legends action figures before: Thunderstrike and Jocasta! Although there was a Marvel Universe 3.75″ scale Thunderstrike figure released a couple years back, I’m pleased to see angry ol’ Eric Masterson finally getting his own 6″ Marvel Legends Thunderstrike figure! Kinda amusing that it looks like he comes packaged with the severed head of Hulk. Heh.

Marvel Legends Jocasta Figure Packaged

And finally, a character who has never had her own action figure: Jocasta, the Bride of Ultron. This is a character that I wish came out two decades ago so we could have had her vac-metallized, but I think she looks pretty cool nonetheless. Definitely a figure that deserves a spot filling in my Avengers roster on my shelf!

Marvel Legenders Avengers GamerVerse Wave 2 is now up for order as singles and in cases, and is scheduled to ship out in… October 2020 (that’s next month!). I’m surprised and excited Hasbro was able to keep this series under wraps for so long!

What do you think of this unexpected final Avengers Legends wave of the year? Are there any must-haves in this set for you, and are you planning to fully assemble a Joe Fixit BAF? If you’re a fan of the video game, are there any other characters from the game you’d still like to see Hasbro tackle?

Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse Wave 2 Revealed! Falcon! Jocasta! Kang! — 16 Comments

  1. Falcon’s head seems oversized again with hasbro. I m glad we’re finally getting one but common hasbro with the proportions.

  2. I have no desire for the BAF or gamer figs. I preordered only Thunderstrike, since I collected that series when it first came out. I will probably get Kang, since he’s a pretty big bad, and I’ll eventually get Falcon, and Jocasta if she goes down in price.

  3. I ordered all the Comic Figs, but even though I want to build Mr Fixit, i’ll wait for Cap and the Blue Iron Man to hit the clearance bins. I’ll throw the Kingpin BAF legs on there before I spend $20 on that crap

  4. Man, I love all the comics figures here. Been waiting for a comics based Falcon. Never thought I’d get a Jocasta figure, so I’m pleasantly surprised there. Kang is a must have, and Thunderstrike and Joe Fixit are fun picks. Just wish I didn’t need to get that Iron Man and (especially) that Cap to build ol’ Joe.

  5. Kang is available on Amazon if you search. I just saw that with the three I’m getting, I’ll have a Hulk torso with both arms. Probably give that away to someone who wants to build the rest.

  6. A mixed bag like usual. I’m glad to see classic such as Jocasta & Thunderstrike and I love the Joe Fixit BAF (as the Toybiz Hulk Classics version is not that easy to find complete and rather expensive, especially if you ‘ve to bring him to Europe like me). I wish they would stop with those Gameverse figures, as I care very little about them. Kang has been done before, so I don’t see why they do another one. I care very little about Falcon. The Toybiz version looks better anyway, as far as I’m concerned.

  7. KANG! I’ve tried to avoid buying the Bad Guys but I will make an exception there. Jocasta was a huge surprise and looks great. As a Machine Man fan I will definitely pick that one up. Would have loved a classic ’70s Kirby Falcon but this one might due as a stand-in.

  8. I agree with LittleWolvie, enough with the Gamerverse figures already. Especially if they are just bare bones minimum rehashes of figures nobody bought in the first place.(Lookin’ at you Cap) Ms Marvel was weak and now ANOTHER Iron Man? Sheesh. Looks like Ebay for Ol’ Joe’s legs.

On the comic figs front tho, I am down with Kang and Falcon, even with his giant head. Jocasta and Thunderstrike were pleasant surprises. But again, another Avengers wave without a comic Luke Cage. With the Netflix Cage out there and Hasbro only needing to sculpt a new over-sized head and some wrist gauntlets for him, I would have thought we’d have seen Luke three waves ago. C’mon Hasbro, I got a spot on my shelf between my Avengers and Thunderbolts that needs filled in!

P.S. Keep working on Box and Marinna from Alpha Flight!

    • They had comic Luke Cage in the Amazon Defenders set. It included Jessica Jones in her origin story superhero outfit (was she called Crystal?), classic red Daredevil, shirtless Iron Fist, and comic Luke Cage. I keep thinking I want to get it, but never bring myself to lol

  9. JOE Fixit is supposed to be Gray Hulk not Green! I would repaint the Skin or Just wait for Hasbro to re release him with the gray skin and different suit color in a year. Like they did for kingpin and Venom

    • That is definitely gonna happen. I couldn’t figure out the green thing either. I thought it was just my color blindness. I’ve got the old Hulk classics Fixit so I’ll prob sell the BAF pieces from jacosta and thunderstrike

  10. I might buy Kang but if I do I will barely use it only to fight Dr.Doom and the avengers and stuff I will most likely pose it and leave it like that unlike the Venompool wave.

  11. Just a couple nitpicks. Everyone is saying Hasbro did Kang before.
That’s kind of inaccurate. Hasbro RERELEASED the TOYBIZ Kang from one of their Fantastic Four lines. It was not a Hasbro original but they did resell it in their Ares BAF wave. Paint apps were marginally different shades. This new one is technically their first “make” of the character.

Secondly the greenness of Joe Fixit bothers me. Its one of those “rushed to production” situations. Because it isn’t even like they are doing a green Joe Fixit in the game. The source material has him gray too. Idk if early concept art had a muted green but its not what is in the game. Given the Children of Thanos Black Dwarf (Cull Odsidian..w/e) redo – this grinds my gears. Another BAF that’s basically an unfinished product that they will try to have you buy again later just because they did it wrong the first time. If they do a rerelease, they will prove how money-grubby and not about the fandom they really are.

Finally, the lack of neutral head-sculpt for Thunderstrike is annoying. They need to stop that sh*t. Neutral is better 10 out of 10 times. If you can’t give 2 head-sculpts then go basic. Beyond that, the idea that it would be impossible to give us 2 heads for cost reasons is BS. (Just like the Lt. Dannonball fiasco. They could’ve done legs and a blast effect. I’ll never let that go.) Anyway, modern technology means most of these molds are rendered from 3D image files. That means tweaking an expression for a secondary head-sculpt isn’t actually all that difficult or expensive. They could likely create a formula that would take any neutral face sculpt and adjust it to a scream pose. Copy/Paste. They just say its impossible to further cut costs and increase the profit margin per figure. And look, I get that they are a business and want money, but, come on. We aren’t asking for the world. Other lines make it happen. And Hasbro even does it – but only sometimes.

All that usual Hasbro loathing aside, I am excited for 6 of the 7 figures in this wave. Saul Goodman Back in Black Captain America is a groaner. But Joe Fixit could be fun to mildly customize for accuracy, and I’m actually not looking down at another Iron Man either. To me, Iron Man is the Marvel equivalent of Batman when it comes to toys. Adding another unique palette swap or mild sculpt change to increase the count in my “Hall of Armors” is nostalgic to the 90s Iron Man cartoon toys. I’m always at least ok with another. And this one looks pretty spiffy. Falcon looks good, Thunderstrike is cool (even with the complaints about the head), Kang looks like a solid upgrade, and Jocasta is a huge win. All in all not that bad for Hasbro.

    • Definitely disappointed by Joe, I wanted him for multiple reasons. Could be a stand in for Solomon Grundy when showing DC. & to add to Hasbro complaints, the exclusive PULSE Hellfire Club is already sold out?! Is that forever? Amazon exclusives tend to be sold again by them, at least, I’d think Hasbros OWN WEBSITE would have a decent stock or restock. This exclusive crap is the worst aspect of the company, IMO. Also the new GI Joes I can’t even find in stores, they’re barely stocked.
I like the new Iron Man also, was thinking of getting that space armor, this 1 having an unmasked head makes the deal. At leas the black suit Cap is something different, unlike most of the Caps released, & it can double as another character.
