Hasbro’s 2026 Hulk program ended up being a lot more diverse than many would have guessed. With just one Bruce Banner Hulk in the whole lineup. After kicking off with Abomination, the series continued with Banner Smart Hulk, Hulk 2099, and is now concluding with the totally-not-a-Hulk shrink himself, Doc Samson! 18 years after his last figure, the gamma-powered psychiatrist is finally getting a modern upgrade: the Hulk Marvel Legends Doc Samson figure is now up for order!

That said, there sadly hasn’t been that much merch of everyone’s favorite therapist released, with just a 1997 Toybiz 5” figure pre-ML, a Bowen Designs statue and mini-bust and an early Hasbro Marvel Legends 6” figure in the 1998 Fin Fang Foom series.
Fans have long requested a modern upgrade to that now badly outdated figure (shown above), and Hasbro has heeded that call to close out the Hulk program (for this year, but not forever)! A much improved ML Doc Samson is finally here—and honestly, I think he looks pretty great.
I’m sort of glad that we’re getting this update now instead of a few years ago, as it means we get pin-less joints and the increasingly popular butterfly swivel shoulders. The articulation and proportions here are vast improvements from what we got 18 years ago.
The accessories included are okay, though I’d prefer a few more of them. Along with the default fists, we get two different swappable grabbing hands. At current prices, we really should be getting matching pairs of all hands and not one of each type.
We do, however, get a totally different interchangeable head. I actually kind of like the frizzy “glam” hair on the default head, but the dopey smirk on that portrait looks way too goody to me. The alternate head has less fun straight hair, but a much better stern, frowning expression that feels a lot more serious. I think most collectors will opt to display with this head.
I still think there’s room to do a future figure of this character with a ponytail and removable eyeglasses, but I’m satisfied for now with Hasbro’s effort here.
The Marvel Legends 2026 Doc Samson figure is now up for pre-order and expected to ship in late summer. I doubt we see this character again for quite a few years, so I’m happy to give Hasbro my dollars to upgrade from the old, badly antiquated iteration.
Will you pick up this new Doc Samson, Marvel collectors? What do you want to see Hasbro put into the next Hulk program of figures in 2027-2028?
