Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Figures Photos Revealed!

The Hasbro portion of the New York Toy Fair 2014 begins in just two days, but apparently Hasbro couldn’t stand to keep some of their main event offerings under wraps for even one minute longer! They’ll be on display in the Hasbro showroom at the 2014 Toy Fair this weekend, but we now have our very first look at most of the 6″ Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures, including the 7″ Marvel Legends Groot Build-A-Figure!

Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Figures Close-Up

I truly wasn’t expecting to see Hasbro premiere one of their biggest Marvel Legends action figures lineups of 2014 just days before the 2014 New York Toy Fair, but what better way to get people’s attention and to build up hype before your competitors than by showing off one of the most-anticipated lines of the year early. Score one for Hasbro!

As widely rumored (and quasi-confirmed by leaked computer listings), there will in fact be a 6″ Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends figures assortment. This assortment is scheduled to ship in July 2014 and include six figures at $19.99 each (plus a seventh Build-A-Figure). The five figures that Yahoo Movies debuted today are:

Starlord Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Hasbro Figure6″ Starlord Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Figure: Starlord may be the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but I think this is my least-favorite figure of the Marvel Legends GOTG team. The movie Starlord design looks far too “Case Skywalker” to me to begin with, and I’m not seeing a Chris Pratt resemblance on this figure at all. I desperately hope (and assume) there will be an interchangeable Starlord helmet head for this figure, as the Chris Pratt Star Lord head looks downright awful to me.

Marvel Legends Gamora Guardians of the Galaxy Figure Hasbro6″ Guardians of the Galaxy Gamora Marvel Legends Figure: Wow, Hasbro is actually going to let Gamora show quite a bit of cleavage (for a mass-release Marvel Legends figure, anyway)! The Marvel Legends Gamora figure doesn’t look bad to me, but it’s nothing immediately impressive either. Gamora is supposed to be such a tough, deadly woman–I wish Hasbro had opted for a more dynamic expression for her Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy action figure.

Marvel Legends Gamora Guardians of the Galaxy Figure Hasbro3″ Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon Figure: Oh dear. Poor Rocket Raccoon really doesn’t look very tough here at all, does he? I’m hoping that this Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon action figure has an articulated jaw that will give him some ferocity, because right now he just looks meek and scared (not to mention under-articulated). I’m wondering if Rocky Raccoon will be a pack-in with another figure, as I don’t know who (besides me) would pay 20 bucks for this figure by itself.

Hasbro Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Drax Figure Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy 6″ Drax Figure: I’m a total mark for the WWE superstar Batista (and always have been), so it’s pretty insane that I’m going to be able to add a Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Drax action figure of Dave Bautista to my existing collection of WWE Batista action figures! The head sculpt looks tremendous here, and Hasbro’s sculptors really nailed the intensity in Batista’s eyes. I’m looking forward to this Drax figure a lot.

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Groot Build-A-Figure 7″ Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Groot Build-A-Figure: I think we all knew that Groot would be the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Build-A-Figure, so this isn’t an unexpected development at all. I’m legitimately not thrilled with the Groot movie character design, but maybe Vin Diesel’s award-winning acting skills (wait a minute…) can really win me over to this version of Groot. As it is, this Groot figure looks more bored to me than anything else.

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy PosterSupposedly, the lineup will include two additional figures that will be shown at the International Toy Fair 2014 this weekend. I think we can reasonably assume that Ronan the Accuser may be one of the two, but the remaining figure could be anything from Thanos to Yondu to a Badoon Warrior. I’m hoping for Yondu, but we’ll have to wait a couple more days to find out.

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Figures Hasbro 2014 6 InchI’ll post more information as it becomes available this weekend, and you can ‘Like’ Marvel Toy News on Facebook to have photos, news and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!

Now that you’ve seen more than two-thirds of the lineup, what do you think of Hasbro’s 6″ Guardians of the Galaxy action figures, Marvel fans? As a longtime Guardians of the Galaxy comic book fan, this whole line is an absolute must buy for me–what about you?

  1. Im aligned with your initial review, these figures look boring and unresponsive. I’m hoping there are add-ons to make these characters more expressive.

  2. Leaked list suggested Iron Man and Nova as the last two figures from the initial line-up. I’m hoping for comic accurate Starlord, Angela and Ronan To be swap figures.

  3. Since the comics Drax and Rocket Raccoon have already been released, i’m hoping it might be a comics Starlord and Gamora.

  4. Your review is exactly what i was thinking. At this very moment, think ill pass… Wait for variants. Id rather see the figures in a 5 pack like the all new X Men legends.

  5. Gamora to those of you who care in the least about GOTG…. Miss Martian to the rest of us! Win,

  6. Yeah, uh… Pass. Won’t be building this BAF. Sorry Groot.
However,Yes to Nova! Might even army build them.
Ironman? Meh. The comic- accurate Star*Lord? Please! And a decent Gamora on that thick new black cat body!
