Wow, the hits keep right on coming from Diamond Select Toys today! Earlier today I heard about the refresh of their sold-out and popular Marvel Select Arachne figure coming back to stores next year, but further news indicates that she won’t be coming alone! One of the more sought-after and expensive older Marvel Select action figures is coming back to stores in February 2014–the Marvel Select Ultimate Iron Man figure is now up for pre-order!

If there’s one thing you can say for sure about Diamond Select Toys, it’s that they get their money’s worth out of the action figures that they’ve designed. Even though DST has been releasing Marvel Select figures for over a decade now, many of the older figures are still being reissued and replenished in stores even today. Such is the case with the Ultimate Iron Man Marvel Select action figure, which was first produced over a decade ago!

The Ultimate Iron Man Marvel Select figure has been selling consistently for $50-$70 on the aftermarket, so it’ll be nice to get it back into circulation again next year.

Truthfully, the Ultimate Universe is not my favorite branch of Marvel Comics. That said, it was ridiculously popular in the early 2000’s, and the beginnings of the Diamond Select Toys Marvel Select line were heavily loaded with Marvel Ultimate Universe action figures. The Ultimate Iron Man action figure released in 2003 was actually the eighth Marvel Select figure ever released, which is pretty amazing since we’re now nearing one hundred releases in the Marvel Select line.

As he’s one of the oldest DST Marvel Select figures, Ultimate Iron Man isn’t quite up to the same level of detail and quality as their most recent figures are. That said, while I’m not in love with the Diamond Select Toys Ultimate Iron Man figure, there’s no question that it’s worlds better than the Hasbro Marvel Legends Ultimate Iron Man that came out a few years later.

The Marvel Select reissue Ultimate Iron Man action figure is now up for pre-order, and is expected to be released alongside the Arachne reissue in February 2014.
