NECA Iron Man Mark VII Battle Damaged 1/4 Scale Figure Released!

Is your Hulk Hot Toys figure lonely being the biggest figure in your Sixth Scale figure collection, towering over all of his to-scale comrades? Well, NECA may have just the thing to cure your Hot Toys Hulk’s blues–a new quarter-scale Avengers Iron Man Mark VII figure for Hulk to hang out with! Though this NECA 1/4 scale Iron Man Battle Damage figure is in a totally different from scale from Hulk, NECA’s Tony Stark is just the right to size to make the 18″ Hulk feel like he’s normal and accepted. And not only is this Iron Man figure huge–he’s also pretty good…

NECA Avengers Iron Man Battle Damage Figure with Tony Stark Head Packaged

NECA gave collectors the heads-up last week that they were sending their 1/4 scale Iron Man Battle Damage figure out to stores, and now it’s permeated most online stores and even some physical comic book stores that I’ve visited this week. I don’t have space in my apartment to collect quarter scale figures like this (I don’t have any space left period, for that matter), but I did want to share my positive impressions of the work that NECA has done on this Battle Damage Iron Man quarter scale figure.

I never chanced upon the original NECA Avengers Iron Man Mark VII in stores, so I wasn’t sure to what to expect articulation-wise from the figure. I remember the olden days when 18″ action figures had about five points of articulation and could barely move. To my surprise, this 18″ NECA Iron Man Mark VII figure couldn’t be any further from those dark days. It boasts 25+ points of articulation and actually has ball-jointed shoulders, hips, and wrists–It’s not at Marvel Legends levels of articulation or anything, but it’s definitely not what I was expecting from a NECA 1/4 scale figure.

Avengers NECA Iron Man Mark VII Battle Damage Figure Poses

Along with the unexpectedly good articulation, the new 18″ NECA Avengers Battle Damaged Iron Man Mark VII quarter scale figure includes a Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr. head and light-up chest and hands. Now, the Robert Downey Jr. likeness isn’t exactly the best I’ve seen, but it’s fairly decent, and worlds better than anything Hasbro or other low-end companies have put out–certainly the best RDJ Iron Man likeness I’ve seen on a figure that costs less than a hundred bucks.

Considering that the latest sixth scale Hot Toys Iron Man figures coming out will cost you $250 and up, getting a figure as nice as this NECA Iron Man figure that’s 50% bigger for less than a hundred bucks is pretty amazing. This is by no means as nicely sculpted or painted as a Hot Toys Iron Man Mark VII figure (particularly when it comes to the Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark head), but it’s certainly still a very nice figure and I’d definitely consider picking it up if I wasn’t scraping for space as it is.

NECA Quarter Scale Iron Man Mark VII Battle Damage Figure Close-UpThe Avengers NECA 1/4 Scale Iron Man Mark VII Battle Damaged Figure is limited to 7500 pieces produced, and carries an MSRP of $99.99. The cheapest I’ve seen the NECA Battle Damage Iron Man being sold by an online store is BigBadToyStore’s $84.99 price tag, although you’ll have to pay shipping on the 18″ beast of an action figure that this is from BBTS.

Alternatively, Amazon has free shipping on the 18″ NECA Iron Man Mark VII Battle Damage figure, but their price is closer to the suggested retail price.

What do you think about NECA’s latest quarter-scale Marvel figure offering, Marvel collecting universe? Has anyone picked this figure up yet themselves and want to share their thoughts on it?

  1. I own the first two of the series Cap n Ironman ..job well done Neca. Really anticipating good news the start of 2014 regarding Thor n Hulk! A wolverine would be jaw dropping!

  2. Hulk is a must at this point. If they don’t do him – that’s an F U to everyone like myself that purchased Cap, Iron Man and Thor. The rest of the avengers lineup would be amazing but at this point the only next choice is HULK!!! After that, they can do whatever they’d like.

Ghost Rider and Blade would also be a cool ones to throw in with a Wolverine staying along the lines of characters that have actually made it to the big screen.

Bring on the Avengers and Justice League Lineups! I’ll buy them all for sure.
