We’ve had some pretty big reveals over the course of the month as far as this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusives go, but now it’s time to step back and talk about some exclusives that a bit smaller–both in size and in hype. Among the hundreds (it feels like thousands) of SDCC exclusives, not all of them are for us hardcore collectors. Such is the case with NECA’s thus far only announced Marvel SDCC 2014 exclusive–NECA Scalers Spider-Man and Iron Man figures!
I somehow doubt that there’s anyone in the world who’s planning to be a completist with the NECA Scalers series of figures. The line is eclectic and draws from all sorts of different licenses and franchises, and there are likely few people who are fans of every character NECA has selected for the line. Furthermore, a series of 2″ tall, unarticulated mini figures is not exactly going to set the collecting world ablaze.
With exclusives in two and likely a similar display at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, NECA may very well draw more attention and sales to the Scalers line than it’s ever had before. I don’t have any burning need for a line of figures to crawl up my computer cords and such myself, but I think the Scalers are an interesting idea NECA had and I hope that their creativity is rewarded.
The two exclusive Scalers for SDCC 2014 are Silver Centurion Iron Man and Red & Black Costume Spider-Man. The Silver Centurion Iron Man armor is an all-time favorite of many Iron Man fans, while the Spider-Man Red and Black costume is famous from being seen in the legendary “Marvels” limited series (and on many, many Spider-Man action figures over the years).
These are (by far) not the most exciting 2014 SDCC Marvel exclusive item, but I do think they’ll make a lot of casual fans who haven’t heard about Scalers before smile.
The NECA SDCC 2014 Scalers exclusive Spider-Man and Iron Man Silver Centurion two-pack will be priced at $10 at the NECA booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and will also be available in limited quantities online. I somehow doubt these Scalers will sell out at the show, but NECA hasn’t confirmed the edition size one way or the other for them, so it’s certainly possible that they will sell out if the run on them is especially low.
Has NECA caught your interest at all thus far with their Scalers figure line, Marvel fans? Anyone contemplating going after the SDCC 2014 Scalers exclusives just in case you decide to get on-board with the line later on?
