XM Studios Phoenix Statue Photos! (Jean Grey)

Are the Marvel Sideshow Premium Format Figures just not doing it for you anymore? Have you been yearning for even more scandalously expensive quarter-scale Marvel statues? Well, then I may have just the statue company for you! The Singapore-based XM Studios is perhaps the biggest up-and-comer in the Marvel high-end collectibles world, and at this weekend’s STGCC 2014 (Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention 2014) they’re showing off a near-finished prototype of their newest Marvel Premium Collectibles Statue: Phoenix (Jean Grey)!

Just when I thought that Marvel statues couldn’t get any more gorgeous, a new player has arrived and changed the game! Though the 1/4 XM Studios Marvel Statues have only begun to be released earlier this year, XM Studios is quickly becoming the Marvel high-end apple of many collectors’ eyes.

And one look at the unpainted prototype sculpt of their latest Marvel Premium Collectibles Statue to be unveiled makes it totally obvious why they’re quickly garnering such popularity and notoriety in the Marvel collectibles world!

Phoenix XM Studios Statue Close-UpI’m not a big Jean Grey guy–especially when she’s in her Phoenix costume and not her Jean Grey duds–but this just may be the most gorgeous female Marvel I’ve ever seen. From any company. Ever! The proportions of Jean’s body, the amazing Phoenix Force manifestation behind her, the texture of Phoenix’s costume… I am not easily impressed by a high-end statue these days, but this one is a masterpiece in the making by the great sculptors Erick Sosa and Adam Ross.

But if you want this XM Studios Phoenix statue, you’re going to have to shell out the big bucks. Each of the XM Studios Marvel Statues previously put up for order has had an edition size between 500 and 800 pieces total, with retail prices ranging from SGD $799 to SGD $899 (that’s $639-$719 US)!

When you add in the extra fees from import stores (as XM Studios does not have a license to directly distribute in the United States), each statue ends up costing around the range of $650 to $850. With the XM Studios Jean Grey Phoenix statue looking even larger than the XM Studios Magneto, it’s entirely possible that’s going to end up costing even more than $850, however.

XM Studios Marvel Premium Collectibles Statue PhoenixThe only American store that I know of that imports and sells XM Studios’ Marvel 1/4 Statues is BigBadToyStore, although the Jean Grey Phoenix XM Studios statue has presently not been announced for pre-order at all by the company and can’t be ordered from anywhere just yet. I’ll post an update here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page once the XM Studios Phoenix statue is officially announced and put up for pre-order, so keep your eyes open.

What are your thoughts on the unpainted prototype of the XM Studios Phoenix statue, Marvel collectors? Are you interested in adding this ultra-high-end statue to your collection, or is the likely $800-$900 US price tag way more than you can bear?
