Tokyo Comic Con has traditionally not been a hotspot for Marvel toy news, but with more import Marvel figure lines being made right now than ever before, there were actually some pretty big reveals at this week’s Tokyo Comic Con 2017! Among them were the Bandai Samurai Deadpool figure that I suspected we’d be seeing soon after spotting the concept art at NYCC 2017, as well as something totally out of left field—MAFEX Gwenpool!

Hasbro played some surprise cards at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 when they revealed Marvel Legends figures of two rather obscure Deadpool variants: Symbiote Deadpool and Weapon X (Inverse) Deadpool!

As anticipated, Bandai Tamashii Nations brought along their four previously-solicited Marvel Manga Realization Samurai figures to New York Comic Con 2017 (even the poor Samurai Spider-Man that’s 40% off online). What was not anticipated—at all—however, was that Bandai would be bringing “Approval Pending” designs of five more characters for the Manga Realization line: including Hulk, Wolverine, Deadpool and more!

Although I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from HasCon when it was first announced, the inaugural event turned out to be one of the more unique and focused conventions that I’ve attended. A con where the unifying element is programming and displays of most of my favorite toy brands ever? Sign me up. We’re just one week out from the inaugural HasCon, but before Hasbro makes their HasCon reveals, they had one more figure that they wanted to show off first at FanExpo Canada in Toronto this week. Hasbro said they didn’t want to show the 2018 Marvel Legends Deadpool Series Build-A-Figure at SDCC 2017, and now we know why: it’s because he’s Canadian and wanted to make his grand debut in Toronto! Kotobukiya’s Marvel ARTFX+ line has grown over the past half decade to be a real low-priced statue juggernaut, with lineups from the X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Verse and soon Defenders all represented in 1:10 scale.
