2016 Marvel Legends 6″ Figures Production Photos!

It’s become a little bit of a tradition over the past few years that we get our first look at factory production photos of Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ figures when scrappers pop most likely ill-gotten figures up on ebay, and it looks like the first 2016 Captain America Marvel Legends wave won’t be the exception to the rule! While I strongly urge everyone to not purchase goods from user viperskingdom, I always appreciate getting to see production samples of upcoming figures a bit early. So let’s take our first good look at the Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure, Mockingbird, Sharon Carter and more…

Hasbro Captain America Civil War Marvel Legends Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure

The first of the new figures that we’re going to take a look at is the big man himself, the Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure!

We haven’t seen packaged photos of this wave yet, so it’s unknown if we’ll have to purchase every figure in this set to build the Red Skull Onslaught BAF, or if there’s going to be a duplicate part somewhere in the wave (likely shared between Mockingbird and Sharon Carter if so).

Marvel Legends Red Onslaught Build-A-FigureI wonder if Hasbro would consider some of the tooling here for Onslaught’s armor to be similar enough to Age of Apocalypse Apocalypse’s armor to give us a Build-A-Figure of ol’ ‘Pocs as part of that X-Men Marvel Legends series in 2016. Hmmmm. Regardless, at least we know that a classic Onslaught head/helmet will be coming as part of that series next summer!

Back of Red Onslaught Build A FigureThe sculpting on this Onslaught Red Skull BAF looks fantastic, although the lack of any paint wash for shading and depth is very obvious on such a large figure. Looks great otherwise, though!

Hasbro Marvel Legends Sharon Carter FigureCaptain America Marvel Legends Sharon Carter 6″ Figure (Agent 13)

Captain America Legends Sharon Carter Action Figure Back of Marvel Legends Captain America 2016 Sharon CarterSharon Carter (Agent 13) certainly doesn’t look that beautiful here, but I’m hoping that’s owed more to these photos than any shortcoming of the actual sculpt. The white jumpsuit actually looks quite striking, but Sharon’s face and eyes… I don’t know.

I doubt Hasbro will be releasing a movie-based 6″ Agent 13 figure in 2016, so hopefully this Marvel Legends Sharon Carter ends up being good enough to satisfy collectors’ need for her.

Marvel Legends Mockingbird Figure Close-UpHasbro Mockingbird 6″ Figure

Marvel Legends 2016 Mockingbird Figure BackBobbi Morse also gets her very first 6″ action figure ever as part of the Marvel Legends Captain America 2016 Wave 1 set! She unfortunately has the same ridiculous oversized, rubbery baton as Daredevil and Hellcat before her, but the translucent yellow lenses on her mask look awesome, and I’m excited to get this figure of Mockingbird in her current comics costume.

Hasbro Mockingbird Marvel Legends 6 Inch Figure 2016With Mockingbird becoming and more prominent thanks to her featured role in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV show and her own upcoming ongoing comic book series, I have a hunch ML Mockingbird will be one of the hottest figures in this series.

Marvel Legends Cottonmouth FigureCottonmouth Marvel Legends Captain America Civil War Figure

Hasbro Captain America Marvel Legends Cottonomouth Back of Marvel Legends Captain America Cottonmouth Action FigureCottonmouth is one of several characters to fill the “obscure villain” slot in this series.

I can’t recall ever reading a really interesting story about Cottonmouth, so I have some trepidations about his sales potential, but Hasbro must be counting on Cottonmouth’s upcoming Netflix appearances to generate hype for this character.

Marvel Legends Scourge Figure Close-UpCaptain America Legends Scourge 6″ Figure

Captain America Marvel Legends Scourge Action FigureIt’s been years since he was a big name, but the villain-murdering Scourge was a near-iconic Captain America villain in the comics for a short time decades ago.

Back of Scourge Marvel Legends 2016 FigureEven without many collectors knowing he is, I think the Marvel Legends Scourge figure has enough “coolness appeal” with his costume similar to G.I. Joe’s Firefly that he’ll sell solidly at retail.

Also, I love the detailed paint deco on Scourge’s weapons! The maroon guns with yellow and orange highlights are definitely unique and eye-grabbing.

Marvel Legends Whirlwind Captain America Civil War Figure2016 Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series Whirlwind Figure

Marvel Legends Whirlwind Figure BackThe penultimate 6″ figure in this assortment is a long, long-overdue Marvel Legends Whirlwind. With Blizzard having been released this summer, Whirlwind was the other major 90’s Iron Man animated villain I had been really anticipating.

Close-Up of Marvel Legends Whirlwind 6 Inch Action FigureThe figure honestly feels a bit dopey, but that’s due to the classic character design and not any fault of Hasbro’s. Those little saw blades on Whirlwind’s arms just aren’t as threatening as they used to be! The flecks in the green plastic look cool, and I’m very pleased with how this Whirlwind six inch figure has turned out.

Taskmaster 6 Inch Marvel Legends Action Figure 2016Marvel Legends 2016 Taskmaster Figure

Back of 2016 Marvel Legends Taskmaster Figure

Finally, we’ve got a major fan-favorite: Taskmaster! Toybiz created a Taskmaster Marvel Legends figure many years ago, but this is Hasbro’s first 6″ take on the character (though he has appeared in Marvel Universe form in recent years).

Hooded Taskmaster looks a tad naked without his cape, but the General Grievous-like Udon Taskmaster head looks outstanding on this figure (as do the nicely-painted shield and translucent orange energy sword). I expect this to be another of the fastest-selling figures from this series, as many fans will want two of this figure to display both heads.

Marvel Legends Captain America Taskmaster Figure with HoodAll of these “early release” 2016 Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series figures are currently being sold online, but as usual, the philosophy I ascribe to this seller’s items is “Look, don’t buy.” These figures have not been officially released by Hasbro through the proper channels, and may have any kind of quality issues and/or be flat-out stolen goods. Don’t buy them–but have a great time checking them out!

What do you think of our first in-hand photos of the Captain America Legends 2016 figures, Marvel collectors? Now that you’ve seen the actual figures fresh out of the factory (one way or the other), which figures are you planning to add to your collection this winter?

  1. Ahh! What happened to Sharon’s beautiful head?
But Bobbi <3 (not loving the use of two shades of black on her arms.)

  2. Well, Cottonmouth and Whirlwind are the only ones I don’t care about.
Guess I’m going to end up getting the whole wave….again.

  3. Hey Dabid, I don’t know if you heard before but Dwight has mentioned before that they cannot and will not create marvel legends of x men movie figs. They are only allowed to do comic figures. That’s why everyone was confused by thinking x men figures in general were off limits when it’s only the movie figs due to fox having the movie rights. I’m glad though because movie figs suck anyways.

    • Yup, I mention that Marvel doesn’t allow X-Men movie merchandise pretty much every time a new piece of X-Men merch goes up for order, but no one ever seems to hear it. That shouldn’t prevent a good, comics-based Apocalypse figure coming out in 2016, though. =D

        • I agree. And I will go you one further than that; it would be most excellent IF we could get ALL new figures of debut characters. You know the ones that have NEVER been done before. Dazzler, Polaris, Amora, Strong Guy, Blink, Shard, Meggan, Frenzy, Wizard, Mirage, Mimic, Armor, Cloak and Dagger, Sauron, Prowler, Cardiac, Firelord, Lockjaw, Gorgon, Crystal, Airwalker, Moondragon, Aurora, Northstar, Marina, Namorita, Ultimo, Super Adaptoid, Quasar, Hellfire Club guards, Triton, Lilandra, Clea, Dr.Druid, Nightshade, Blue Marvel, Nighthawk, Dr.Polaris, Power Princess,
X-man, Attuma, Mangog, Ulik, Vindicater, Box, Hellstorm, Nomad, BattleStar, etc.but I digress. I’m dreaming. This is highly unlikely. You will get your “new” Beast ahead of any of those characters. Lol??
Therefore,I would not object to a “new” Apoc. The two figures you’re talking about are out of range, outmoded, and out of sight,so out of mind for any brand new collectors! Besides,Apocalypse is a shapeshifter. Three figures at 3different sizes would be cool.☺
          ?Shalom.

          • I’m not sure why you “” around new? Beast has a completely new look with a large ape like appearance. The 2 apocalypse figures aren’t bad figures and I got mine for like $27 (base figure). Honesty a new BAF has a chance of being on the Terrax mold and looking small. Also I think Lockjaw has a solid chance of being a very popular character post Inhumans movie.

          • I used quote marks to denote that a current Beast figure would NOT be new in the sense of never been done before character. Dr.Hank McCoy aka Beast has had several 6 inch legends figures in his blue furry form and one in human form.
It’s technically an update figure if modern Beast is made.
Like Doc Green indestructible HULK is still Bruce Banner HULK.
            ?
However,Bucky Cap, and Falcon Cap, are New being distinctive Captain America characters from Steve Rogers as Cap.

            I just checked eBay.
            Series seven Apoc starts@$75.
            The Apoc BAF starts@$128.
Umm,yeah. I’m thinking of the collectors that just got started and that may be just a little too steep for some.
Newer Apoc BAF might be a little more practical and affordable. Apoc on the Terrax base?? I’m guessing they will use the Rhino or Hulkbuster base body.?which aren’t small. Even though, Not as big as the original BAF,but I’m ok with that. I HAVE that one along with the smaller ones. All the way down to the MU 3.75inch Apoc! The mighty mutant is a shape shifter as I said last post, and that works fine for me if the next newer BAF is on any of the current above Hasbro base bodies. I already have him displayed smallest to largest for power set effects!? Another one in the newer size world fit right in my growing Apoc display as an awesome fantastically astonishing intermediate.
            ?Shalom.
BTW Lockjaw will be popular post movie,INDEED,boss!

      • Indeed. Unlike some,I do my research. That means I must confirm the info from at least three different sources. When my toys kept getting cancelled is when I looked into it. For the last time people;Marvel-Disney has complete Ownership and control over every and ALL it’s comic book characters and associated properties!? Cartoons, Tv shows, games, Toys and collectibles!

Movies is the only contested chink in their side armour!?
They DON’T own movie rights to teams that we ALL should know by now!
Which irks a peeve of mine about my toys!
They could make comic X-Men action figures anytime they felt like it!
Did we forget all the X-Men toys we got during all this consternation?
X-Men Jubilee BAF series(exclusive abysmal miserable distribution)?,
        The tRu(exclusive) X-Men box set,AND Wolverine(exclusive)Puck wave, and
Many mutants in the MU 4″waves;Beast, Bishop, Omega Red, Cyclops, Aurora, Cloak&Dagger, Puck, Angel, Jubilee, Prof.X, Whirlwind, Northstar, Deadpool, Emma Frost, Cyttorak Colossus,(This is a large number of mutants for there to be an “embargo”LOL!?)
The mystery I can’t solve is why the Fantastic 4 fans are getting the short end of the stick!? Again,Marvel could make these figures if they wanted to!
No FF comic! No FF toys! REALLY?? (glad I got em when I could. Guess I’ll just play with my mutant toys and shut up.)
Looking forward to a new Apoc BAF.
        Lol?Shalom!

  4. I’m worried about the Onslaught build a figure. I loved putting the Hulk Buster baf together and how it looked initially. But, now on my shelf, the block colours and lack of painting apps make it look cheap. Could be the same with Onslaught 🙁

  5. Sharon is a super lazy figure. She uses the Widow mold, Medusa head and it looks like Anya or that cancelled Rogue’s hair.

Mockingbird and taskmaster look the best.
