We only talk about Marvel toys and collectibles here on Marvel Toy News, which means that I rarely get the pleasure of talking about concept art and designs for upcoming Marvel Studios movies. But today, I’ve got a news item that just barely squeaks into the realm of collectibles, as the originally-leaked image of this concept art was stamped all over with the word “Sideshow”–referring to one of the world’s biggest producers of high-end Marvel collectibles, Sideshow Collectibles. Based off that leaked image, it may be time to start looking forward to a Sideshow Avengers Age of Ultron Vision movie statue going up for order in 2015!

I love simple, bright and cheerful costume designs, so it goes without saying that I’ve always been a big fan of collectibles of the Vision. The Bowen Designs Vision statues (including the uber-cool Bowen Phasing Vision statue) are two of my favorite Avengers Bowen Designs statues, and I love my Hasbro and Toybiz Vision figures (even if they aren’t the best toys in the world).

When it was revealed that the Vision would be appearing in the 2015 Avengers 2 movie, I had ample concerns about the character design being neutered (like poor Hawkeye’s costume was for the first Avengers movie). Thankfully, while there have been some changes to the Vision’s look, Vision definitely still has his classic aesthetic left intact.

In order to be taken seriously, there was literally no way that Marvel Studios could keep the yellow underwear that Vision is so famous for wearing in the Avengers comic books. I totally understand and sympathize with that.

But while we’ve lost the yellow undies, I appreciate that Marvel Studios was good enough to keep the yellow cape and the visual essence of the Vision for the Avengers Age of Ultron Vision character design. And the extra red that Marvel Studios has added to the Vision’s forearms and thighs actually looks pretty striking. It really is a nice evolution of the classic design!

I’m going to have to see what role the Paul Bettany Vision character plays in the Age of Ultron Avengers movie before deciding how much merch (if any) I want of this movie Vision design, but Sideshow Collectibles definitely has a good chance of claiming more of my future dollars based off of the unintentionally leaked original artwork.
