It wouldn’t be a week without at least one new Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls figure to talk about, and this week it’s a figure that every single one of us should have seen coming, but forgot about nonetheless. Back in the fall Funko released the Black & White Loki POP Vinyl figure that was a lightning-fast sell-out… and where there’s lightning, there’s sure to be thunder! An exclusive Thor Black & White Funko POP Vinyls figure is on the way!
This exclusive Loki figure was sold both online and at Stan Lee’s Comikaze, and sold out exceptionally quick. As a result, the Funko Black & White Loki has been selling very consistently on the aftermarket for $27-$35 ever since.
Of course, with the success of B&W Loki, it makes little sense to release just one Black & White Funko variant for Thor The Dark World. Since the Dark Elf was black and white to begin with, that left just one possible choice to repaint: Loki’s brother Thor (in this case, the unhelmeted version).
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Funko Marvel POP Vinyls figures, as I’ve found that the quality control on the figures isn’t always what it could be. That said, the Black & White Loki Thor: The Dark World figure has one of the single best and most well-done paint jobs I’ve ever gotten on a Marvel Funko Bobble-Head figure, so I’m feeling pretty positive about getting another Black & White Funko figure in the same style (even if it is just another variant of boring ol’ Thor).
The Funko Thor: The Dark World Black and White Thor POP Vinyl figure is an exclusive to Gemini Collectibles, and is expected to be released by the end of January 2014. Though movie Thor isn’t near as popular as Loki, I suspect the B&W Thor POP Vinyl may still sell out reasonably fast to all the fans wanting to reunite the brothers. I already have (and love) the Loki Black and White figure, so I went ahead and placed an order for the limited Thor Black & White Funko figure as well.
Will you be placing an order for the Funko Black and White Thor POP Vinyls exclusive, Marvel collectors? Or is this type of non-canonical exclusive just not doing it for you?
