Diamond Select Deadpool Marvel Gallery Statue & Model Kit!

Earlier this week, I discussed the upcoming resin Gentle Giant Collectors Gallery Deadpool statue. In a weird twist of events (and words), Diamond Select Toys has now put up a “gallery” Deadpool of their own: the affordably-priced 9″ Marvel Gallery Deadpool statue is now up for order! And if that’s not enough Wade Wilson for you, there’s a DIY Marvel DX Deadpool Model Kit on the way from DST as well…

One of the most pleasant surprises at the New York Toy Fair 2016 in the winter was that Diamond Select Toys was expanding their popular Marvel Femme Fatales statue line scale to male characters with the new Marvel Gallery statues.

And while the Hulk, Ant-Man and Spider-Man Marvel Gallery statues shown at Toy Fair were impressive, the one that really caught my eye was the Merc with a Mouth himself, Deadpool!

There’s a couple big distinctions between the Gentle Giant Deadpool statue I talked about earlier this week and Diamond Select’s. While both statues are around 9″ tall, Gentle Giant’s is made of resin and DST’s is made of PVC plastic. And oh yeah–Diamond Select’s Deadpool is also a quarter of the price.

Toy Fair 2016 Diamond Select Toys Marvel Gallery StatuesThat’s right–the new Marvel Gallery 9″ statues line carry an incredibly low MSRP of $44.99, which some online retailers are discounting to just $39.99. For a 9 inch statue, that’s amazingly low compared to competing companies out there like Kotobukiya.

I love the leaping, dual katanas pose on this Deadpool statue. About the only thing I don’t love about it is the base. According to the official description, Deadpool is jumping out of an “explosion”, but it just looks like some clear orange swirlies to me. Even so, this statue as a whole is a real winner.

Marvel DX Deadpool Model Kit

Along with their new Marvel Gallery statue line, DST also debuted an all-new line of Marvel DX Model Kits at the 2016 New York Toy Fair. And who better to kick off that line than Marvel’s hottest character, Deadpool himself?

Sculpted by Paul Harding, the Marvel DX Deadpool Model Kit comes in unassembled plastic pieces that you have to paint and glue together yourself (with your own paint and glue).

I’m the last person on earth that should be trusted with any kind of D.I.Y. project like this, but I imagine some collectors will really dig this new line for the customizing options that it offers (including a second, unmasked Deadpool head you can choose to place on Wade!).

Marvel Gallery Deadpool Statue New York Toy Fair 2016The Marvel Gallery Deadpool statue & Marvel DX Deadpool model kit are now up for order, and are scheduled to be released in October 2016. Both items are discounted $5 for pre-orders right now. I’m not sure about the model line, but I see no way that the 9 inch Marvel Gallery statues aren’t going to be a huge hit! I’m really looking forward to getting my first statue in this line!

Are you all Deadpool-ed out at this point, Marvel collectors, or is there room in your heart for a few more Diamond Select Deadpool toys? What do you think of futures for the new 9″ Marvel Gallery statue line and the Marvel DX Model Kits? Are you interested in model-building, or are completed figures all you’re interested in?
