Earlier this week, Funko dropped the bombshell that the first-ever exclusive Funko POP! Vinyls wave of unique characters was coming to Walgreens in January 2015, containing Venom, Spider-Man 2099, Black Suit Spider-Man and the Punisher. But if highly popular characters as retailer exclusives at a drug store is just too much excitement for you to handle, have no fear–plain old variants are coming to the rescue: a previously-unannounced Metallic Magneto Funko POP Vinyls figure has now been spotted!

I wasn’t 100% certain that Funko would get the whole Funko X-Men wave that was announced just a couple months ago out by its scheduled December 2014 release date, but I should have kept the faith: not only have stores begun to receive the classic X-Men POP Vinyls wave on time, but  online and specialty stores are now receiving their stock of this series.

And the shipment of this X-Men POP Vinyls wave to Hot Topic stores are including a surprise guest: an exclusive Funko Metallic Magneto POP Vinyls figure!

Funko collectors are no strangers to metallic POP Vinyl variants, but oftentimes the metallic variants don’t make a whole lot of sense. Metallic Spider-Man was a bit weird, and I’ll never understand the metallic Oswald the Lucky Rabbit POP Vinyls figure that Funko released. But this–this makes sense. If any human in the world should be metalized, it’s the master of magnetism himself: Magneto.

The metallic red and purple paints on this vinyl really pop (no pun intended–I swear), and make it the obvious choice if you only want one Funko Magneto POP Vinyl figure in your collection and have to choose between this version and the (cheaper and easier to obtain) regular Funko Magneto.

Since this exclusive Funko Magneto shares the same Marvel collection identification number with the regular version, you can skip one of them and still have an uninterrupted collection number-wise.

The Hot Topic Exclusive Metallic Magneto Funko POP Vinyls figure is now being sold by various online sellers, and is also arriving at Hot Topic retail stores. It’s kind of creeping me out that I visit Hot Topic often enough these days that the clerks at the store recognize me when I come in to hunt for exclusive POP Vinyls, but I’ll subject myself to the creepy Hot Topic atmosphere a few more times this year to snag this awesome Magneto variant.
