With no new Marvel Legends figures hitting retail and two months until the arrival of the Ant-Man movie, It seemed like May 2015 was going to be a pretty quiet and cheap month for Marvel figure collectors. Note the emphasis on “was”. See, last Friday the Hot Toys Vision figure appeared. And then yesterday the amazing Spider-Man Premium Format Figure went up for order. And today, Hot Toys decided to unveil two new sixth scale figures, of which one is a pretty big deal–the die-cast Hot Toys Iron Man Mark 45 figure is now up for order!
But what I do know is that the Mark 45 Iron Man armor is one of the sleekest, best-looking red-and-gold armors featured in any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies!
Hot Toys is numbering this as MMS300, which is a bit baffling since The Vision was just announced last week as MMS296, but officially, Hot Toys has declared this the 300th Movie Masterpiece Series figure.
Sideshow hasn’t announced an official retail price for this sixth scale figure yet in the United States, but based off of the last few die-cast Iron Man figures that went up for order, we can reasonably expect this figure to retail for around $350. That’s a lot–make no mistake–but for once, we may actually be getting enough accessories to make that price-point really worthwhile!
UPDATE: The official price for Iron Man Mark XLV in the United States is $354.99–pretty close to what I expected!
Traditionally, the die-cast Iron Man Hot Toys figures have been pretty sparse on accessories (what with being rather expensive to begin with). But rules are made to be broken, and the Iron Man Mark 45 Hot Toys figure is coming loaded with some very cool accessories!
My favorite add-on for the Iron Man Mark XLV Hot Toys figure is definitely the first-ever laser effects pieces for a Hot Toys Marvel figure! Lasers!!! Pew pew pew! *Achem* The translucent pink lasers attach to Iron Man’s forearm shooters, and add a definite new flavor to the figure. I definitely will be displaying my Iron Man Mark 45 Hot Toys figure with lasers attached!
But that’s not all! Iron Man will come with four blast effect pieces as well–two to act as repulsor blasts on Iron Man’s palms, and two to act as thrusters on Iron Man’s feet.
Some collectors may not be thrilled with translucent plastic flame pieces like these in this scale, but I love effects pieces and am thrilled to get them with the Mark 45.
Notice that the eyes on this Ultron Sentry Prime figure are red–so this is one of the Ultron Prime Sentries that Ultron is personally controlling. I think that’s a pretty nice touch.
The Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XLV figure is now available for order, with an expected release date in early 2016. As I’ve already got a huge number of figures on order from Hot Toys, I went ahead and put this guy on a payment plan so that I can try to pretend I don’t notice the comparably minor payments I’ll be paying for this guy every month for the next half year or so.
What do you think about the last canonical Avengers: Age of Ultron movie Iron Man armor in Hot Toys form, Marvel collectors? Will you be completing the triumvirate of AOU Iron Man armors, or are you satisfied with the previously solicited Mark 43 and/or Hulkbuster Iron Man figures?
I’m drooling over this figure… Looking sick man… I have ordered SH figuarts Mark 45. If have more money, I definitely getting this guy.
Ordered. This will be my first Diecast Hot Toys. Nice looking suit.
The diecast series are nice, i have two… but not worth the extra coin.
i wish they offered these figures in both diecast and standard HK plastic.
So MMS297, 298 are Thor and Scarlet Witch?
or maybe Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver?
hopefully…
Meh, not my style of armor. You guys enjoy
Whaat?
