Kotobukiya Wolverine Brown Costume Statue Released & Photos!

With Bowen Designs still on hiatus until further notice (if not forever), sixth scale Marvel statue collectors are suffering from some serious withdrawal. With quarter-scale statues being all the rage these days, collectors with limited space–or who just plain prefer something smaller–have had to turn to the only other company producing Marvel 1/6 statues: Kotobukiya. And after a long wait, the first 1/6 Kotobukiya Marvel statue of 2015 has arrived: the Danger Room Sessions Brown Costume Wolverine statue!

Kotobukiya Wolverine Brown Costume Statue Released

The Kotobukiya Juggernaut Danger Room sessions statue that I got last summer was one of my absolute favorite Marvel statues of 2015. But with Bowen Designs out of commission, I had to wait quite a while to get a new companion piece to match Juggs off against.

But the wait is over, and an ideal new sparring partner for Juggernaut has arrived in the form of the Brown Costume Wolverine Danger Room Sessions statue!

Kotobukiya Wolverine Statues ComparisonWhile the various yellow Wolverine costumes tend to get the vast majority of the merchandising love, the classic Wolverine brown costume represents an important part of the character’s history and is just as iconic to many fans. So it’s only right that the beloved brown costume for Wolverine now joins the previously-released Kotobukiya statues of Wolverine in his Jim Lee X-Men and black X-Force costumes!

Kotobukiya Unmasked Wolverine Head LoganI am not in love with the wild and crazy “savage” look that Logan oftentimes sported while rocking this brown costume unmasked, but Erick Sosa has created a fine representation of an unleashed, unmasked Wolverine head to include as an alternate portrait for this statue. I won’t be displaying this head myself, but I know some folks are gonna love this look.

Back of Kotobukiya Wolverine Brown Costume Danger Room Sessions StatueWhile sometimes Wolverine is sculpted as being not particularly muscular, Erick Sosa has sculpted a Wolverine statue here that is absolutely ripped. This particular Wolverine statue almost looked to me like he might have too much muscle definition, but he actually looks right at home when lined up alongside the rest of the Danger Room Sessions X-Men statues.

As is the norm for Kotobukiya pieces, the paintwork on the Wolverine Brown Costume statue looks pretty masterful. I know that the Kotobukiya Cyclops Danger Room Sessions statue had some notable quality-control issues, but I’ve everything I’ve heard from people who have already received the Brown Wolverine statue has been much more positive.

I’m still waiting for my own Brown Costume Wolverine to come in the mail (five more days!), but it sounds like by-and-large the paint apps on this Koto Wolverine are a winner. Big thanks to HellsBells51 for giving me permission to run his photos of Wolverine with this article!

Erick Sosa Brown Costume Wolverine Statue Close-UpThe Kotobukiya Brown Costume Wolverine statue is now in-stock and available with free shipping from EE. The Danger Room Sessions Juggernaut is already sold out from all online retailers, and I’d expect that the long-demanded Wolverine Brown Costume statue will sell out quickly as well. Don’t wait too long if this Logan is one you’re wanting for your own collection.

Anyone besides me psyched to add a new 1/6th scale Wolverine statue to their collection after a decently long sixth scale drought? What X-Men character would you like to see added to the Danger Room Sessions lineup next?
