Marvel Legends Endgame Wave 3 Up for Order! Fat Thor BAF Series!

Hasbro won’t hold their annual San Diego Comic Con Marvel Legends panel until this weekend, but they’ve come out on swinging on the first day of SDCC nonetheless! In advance of the inevitable slew of announcements coming up in a few days, Marvel Legends Endgame Wave 3 has now been revealed and is up for order—including Valkyrie, Heimdall, Iron Patriot, Vision and even a Bro (Fat) Thor Build-A-Figure!

Individual Figures on Amazon:

Heimdall

Vision

Valkyrie

While Hasbro usually teases us with just one or two new figures on the first day of Comic Con, they mean business this year! So to kick off SDCC, they debuted an entire new six figure (and one Build-A-Figure) Avengers Endgame Thor Series!

Presumably this will be the final wave of Avengers Legends figures for 2019, but Hasbro is covering some very exciting bases with this set and filling in some long-missing MCU characters.

Marvel Legends Avengers Endgame Wave 3 Figures Fat Thor SeriesFirst up, we’ve got a Build-A-Figure that I have no doubt is going to sell a LOT of sets of this series: the much-requested Bro Thor AKA Fat Thor BAF!

Marvel Legends Fat Thor Build-A-Figure Avengers EndgameI honestly wasn’t sure if this particular iteration of Thor would ever appear in super-articulated toy form in this outfit, but Hasbro saw the potential for a fun figure and decided to invest big bucks in loads of unique tooling to make it a reality. Thanks, Hasbro!

Marvel Legends Endgame Vision Figure PackagedA huge sigh of relief can be heard from thousands of collectors’ mouths as the first-ever single-packed Marvel Legends Vision movie figure will also be in this wave. Not every fan has $100+ to drop on the Scarlet Witch/Vision two-pack, so this is a very welcome addition to the line without a doubt for a multitude of collectors.

Marvel Legends Endgame Iron Patriot PackagedI had feared that Hasbro would just repaint the Endgame War Machine if they made a red and blue Iron Patriot ML figure, but thankfully this figure feels very fresh and new. I know some people don’t like the Iron Patriot colors on War Machine, but I LOVE them. If only an Endgame Rocket Raccoon would be announced now to ride Iron Patriot into battle…!

Marvel Legends America's Ass Captain America Figure Packaged A retro Captain America in original Avengers movie attire will also be part of the series, made possible through the magic of the Pym Particles “Time Heist”. Yes, Cap was actually posed backwards at the Hasbro event this morning to showcase America’s Ass. You’re the best, Hasbro!

Hasbro Marvel Legends Iron Man Mark 85 Packaged with Nano GauntletI’m sure it hadn’t eluded anyone that Hasbro hadn’t produced an Endgame Iron Man Mark 85 Legends figures to-date, so it’s not a shocker to see one unveiled at SDCC 2019. This feels like “just another Iron Man” to me without any kind of fancy accessories or bonuses (especially given what Hot Toys is doing), but this was an essential version to do nonetheless.

And hey–even if he doesn’t have his own Nano Gauntlet, at least he comes with one for the Hulk Build-A-Figure from Wave 2 to wear! That’s pretty slick, right?

Marvel Legends Valkyrie Packaged

Rounding out the wave is a duo of Thor-related characters getting their first single-packed spotlight: Heimdall and Valkyrie (in her Valkyrie clothes)!

I legit never thought we’d get an Edris Elba Marvel Legends Heimdall figure, so this is a wonderful surprise that’s gonna make a lot of folks happy. And now that she’s the King of Asgard, Valkyrie really deserved an update as well. Nice work!

Marvel Legends Heimdall Packaged

The Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 3 series is now up for order, and is scheduled to arrive in October 2019. Amazon has the series marked as arriving in December 2019, but I would assume that they’ll (hopefully) receive the series around the same time as other online retailers for the sake of those who prefer using Amazon. As a swan-song series for Infinity War/Endgame, I think this hits the spot nicely.

What do you think, Marvel Legends collectors? Is the Bro Thor Build-A-Figure Series everything you hoped for, and are you planning to order any (or all!) of the characters in this wave?

Marvel Legends Endgame Wave 3 Up for Order! Fat Thor BAF Series! — 20 Comments

  1. I was never the biggest fan of Rhodey as Iron Patriot, but man, that armor looks really good. He, Valkyrie, and Heimdall are must haves for me. Vision, Cap, and Iron Man are less appealing to me, but I’ll probably end up getting them so I can build that Thor.

    • Wow, you literally just summarized my whole thoughts on the wave. I NEED that Fat Thor one way or another. I think that’s going to get me to pull the trigger on the whole wave. My wallet won’t be happy, it I guess we all have to make “sacrifices”.😉

  2. Shame Iron Man doesn’t come with his own nano gauntlet. I’m sure that will arrive later in yet another two-pack…

    • I’m confused. There is clearly a nano gauntlet in there. Are you saying you want the smaller size for Tony’s hand, whereas this looks Hulk-sized?

        • Really? So now we’ve got BAF crossovers? The Apocalypse piece with Archangel was cool, but this seems off.

          • This isn’t new. They put an Onslaught head in with Kitty Pryde in the Juggernaut wave, which could be used with Red Onslaught from that wave instead of the Red Skull head. Professor X comes with a Shadow King head to use with the Kingpin BAF.
On one hand, I respect Hasbro trying to give more bang for buck, but it’s gotta suck being an X-fan and having to buy a non-X wave or shell out for an aftermarket BAF to get what you want.
At least in this case people who wanted the Endgame Hulk BAF will probably want this wave too.

  3. I have to say, the only thing that burns me up about this wave (and should also anger anyone else who did as I did) is Vision. I got Scarlett Witch years back, then shelled out the $$ last year for the 2-pack so that I could get Vision. NOW they release him in a single, leaving me with two of each figure that I only wanted one of. That spot should have gone to Wong, who is way overdue for a figure. Otherwise, can’t complain about the rest of the wave (although we really didn’t need yet ANOTHER Cap or Iron Man, & Quantum Hulk & The Ancient One are still MIA), but I understand why they got those slots. Pre-ordered the set from Dorkside, because that Lebowski…er, Thor figure is a must-have!

  4. Really feels like someone from Mattel snuck in when deciding how this wave would turn out. Like the Hasbro folks wanted Heimdall, Valkyrie, and Iron Man Mark 85, and the Mattel guy just kept piping up in the background for straight re-releases of Cap and Vision. Iron Patriot was the compromise point, and Hasbro won with the BAF.

Jokes aside, this is a real winner of a wave for me, with the exception of that Cap, which I can’t help but feel should include an alternate head and the scepter. That would make it’s 2 per case placement almost essential to recreate the battle. Woulda been awesome. When Hasbro does to the inevitable 2 pack with the Mark 85, maybe it can go the Hot Toys route with tons of sculpted (painted, who am I kidding) battle damage, the gauntlet, and a RDJ head. Pair him with Thanos with Stark Gauntlet, it’ll sell like hot cakes.

With this wave, there’s not much we really *need* from Endgame now. Wong, armored bro Thor, Ancient one…that’s about it? Maybe Captain Marvel, with the new haircut and costume (which I now realize is far more likely to share the 2 pack w Stark).

Now all I have to complain about is no Odin, Miek, Kaecilius, Malekith, Iron Monger, Justin Hammer (if they made Luis, they can give us Sam Rockwell), Whiplash, Killian (it’d be a cool figure, with translucent plastic, etc… shoulda taken the 3 pack spot over the Hot Rod Iron Man imo), Alexander Pierce, Zemo, Cull Obsidion, mocap Mysterio (please), shirtless T’Challa and Killmonger, old T’Chaka, unmasked Vulture, Final Form Ultron, Chitauri, and some love for Ed Norton Hulk.

Alright, the list is longer than I thought, but most are civilian characters and suuuuper unlikely to see production. Realisitically, I think we could see the Black Panther 2 pack, Whiplash, Iron Monger, a Chitauri, Kaecilius, Miek and Watiti Korg, maaaaaaaybe Malekith.

    Here’s hoping.

  5. So I wonder when the Amazon links will actually work for preorder? When I do find the items on Amazon it says the aren’t available yet or sold out for all of them. Every time I check the link it just takes me to entertainment earth for preorders:(

  6. Another Wal-Mart exclusive Cap? :-/

I still haven’t been able to find the Worthy Cap or the Binary Captain Marvel. The former is already 40 bucks minimum, and the later was only available from Wal-Mart for 25 bucks (which is a rip off, since most people were reporting crap paintjobs, broken joints, and gummy plastic, and it comes with no BAF piece).

Hey Hasbro, stop giving those people exclusives!!!

  7. Hmmm… I think all of these look good and are worthy, but somehow, I’m feeling like I’m not going to buy any of these. I liked fat Thor, but I don’t “need” a figure of him. I think that kinda sums up this whole set for me. I like them. But I can pass. There are no absolute “needs” here. I will continue to like them from a distance. I have money to spend on Colossus and Juggernaut… motorcycle Cap… the entire Wendigo wave… half of the smart Hulk wave… etc etc…

    • I’m so with you, there is a couple figures I want. Most I don’t, fat Thor as a baf easy pass for me, I felt the character was a mockery of Thor overall..go ahead hate me lol. The Colossus set is a easy must have on the other hand.

  8. EAAASSSYYY PASSSSSSSESSSSSS. My wallet is breathing easy. I was actually hoping for an off comic year and I think its fair that Hasbro appears to be alternating between MCU and Comics as of late. If Iron Patriot and Iron Man end up being cheap down the line, I may grab them to add to the Hall of Armors. Otherwise, I’m good.

Also, just a curiosity, but is the Vision a “phasing” version? He seems to be translucent.

  9. I am only 100% going to buy Valkyrie. The only “flaw” I see in her is that she has really skinny arms, but it could also be all that bulky, white armor. Regardless, she will be in my collection!

Heimdall is a possible buy for me because I would so much rather have him in his Golden Armor. That being said, he still looks great and I might still buy him if I see him anyway.

Iron Patriot is awesome, I just don’t collect the Iron People. (My first and only is the “Last 10 Years” Iron Man. Love the characters, just not a fan boy.)

All that being said…the rest of this wave seems like just a TON of missed opportunities.

They are calling the Captain America figure “America’s @$$” on various social media platforms. They even posed his butt towards the viewers. So…if they wanted to cash in on that…why is there no retooling? Instead, it’s a reissue with new paint and looks like a jean diaper. What they could have and should have done is not done the Walmart exclusive (cause EXPLETIVE Walmart!) and saved Worthy Cap for this wave…and retooled the 🍑. That way no matter how you pose him, he’s worthy in the front…and the back. 😉

Iron Man comes with a Iron Gauntlet that only fits the Hulk BAF. Why doesn’t he come with an interchangeable hand that has his Iron Gauntlet!?!?!? Cause like, cool…we have one for the Hulk…BUT WHERE IS TONY’S!? That’s what makes this an easy pass for me.

This Vision, I totally get it and respect the decision to add him in because of how insane the TRU set is to acquire…but he’s still just another reissue. Yeah he has translucent parts and they are cool…but how about saving him for next year or even 2021 when the whole WandaVision show comes out? They could have made an Ancient One, Wong, or anyone else that still doesn’t have a figure made from a previous movie. But also…why not make an Endgame War Scarlet Witch? Just use the same concept as Binary. Give Wanda glowing red eyes and translucent hands with more bold power effects. At least she was in Endgame.

And then “Fat” Thor. Funny. I get it. Comical. But it got old fast. Comedy has rule of 3. This became the new Infinity War: The Beaten to Death Joke. It would have been SO MUCH COOLER to see him in his final battle look. That was just amazing.

Because of all these major little details, I wouldn’t be surprised if NYCC announced some other retailer exclusives or a 3-pack that has “Worthy Captain America”, “Iron Gauntlet Iron Man”, and “Final Battle/I’m Still Worthy Thor”. Those 3 would be everything and I literally sat in the theater thinking “They are going to be made in to Marvel Legends real fast”…but yet, here we are.

  10. I’m just glad Hasbro finally created a wave of movie-centric characters without lame comic D-listers filling up the wave that are necessary for BAF purchases. Keep movie figures together, and comic figures together!
