The Marvel collecting world has been speculating endlessly for months now on what the always anticipated San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusive Marvel Legends figure (or figures) would be. Well, all speculation can officially cease, as Hasbro has announced the five figure set that will be sold in San Diego next month–it’s the Marvel Legends SDCC 2013 exclusive Thunderbolts figures set of Luke Cage, Ghost, Moonstone, Crossbones, and Satanna!
In some ways, I feel like this Comic-Con exclusive Marvel Legends Thunderbolts set is pretty awesome. The “Thunderbolts Tower” box design looks terrific, we really needed new modern Marvel Legends Luke Cage and Crossbones figures, and I love that we’re getting Marvel Legends figures of characters like Satanna (called “Judith Chambers” in the set), Ghost, and Moonstone that would otherwise never be immortalized in the Marvel Legends 6″ action figure scale.
On the other hand, as fas as 2013 SDCC exclusives go, I think Hasbro may have made a misstep with this Thunderbolts boxed set. The Heroic Age Thunderbolts comic book never exactly tore up the sales charts, so I’m not convinced that this particular set has the mass appeal to be your typical “hot” SDCC exclusive item. It’s certainly not going to be the insanely popular and difficult to acquire rare exclusive that last year’s Marvel Legends “Uncanny X-Force” SDCC Exclusive set was (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing).
We won’t have long to wait to find out whether this Thunderbolts exclusive set is going to be “hot” or “not”! The Marvel Legends “Thunderbolts” five figure boxed set will be priced at $89.99 and available exclusively at the Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 from July 18-21, 2013.
So to get a Marvel Legend 2012 Blade action figure, it need to be in a box set or Hasbro will still say “No Comment”
