Kotobukiya has been teasing their next series of 1/10 Marvel ARTFX+ statues all year long, and at San Diego Comic Con 2017 in July they officially announced the new series would be the Defenders. As soon as that was confirmed, I had a hunch who would be leading off the line as the headliner, and it was verified today at NYCC 2017: the Kotobukiya Daredevil ARTFX+ Statue has now been revealed! And hey—it comes in black, too!

No doubt about it: Netflix Marvel is hot, and Marvel is capitalizing on that success with new comic book series for all the main characters, Diamond Select Toys Marvel Gallery statues of all the heroes (plus a new series of battle diorama statues coming up!) and a whole Hasbro Marvel Knights Legends series of 6” Figures.

But Kotobukiya is giving collectors what no one else is right now: modern comic-based statues of all four main characters from The Defenders!

If you want to hook a collector on a new line, you always start big with one of the most popular characters. In this case, there was really no question who that was: the Man without Fear, Daredevil.

While Koto has done an ARTFX Daredevil before in 1:6 scale, this is his first time in the smaller ARTFX+ 1:10 scale. And so, might as well check off two boxes at once, right? ARTFX+ Daredevil will be orderable in both his classic red costume and a Shadowland-esque Black costume variant!

I’ve become really fond of the black costume Daredevil look over the past few years, so I’m digging the chance to pick him up (even if he won’t totally jive with his Defenders brethren in this costume).

The iconic red costume Daredevil ARTFX+ Statue looks fantastic. The paint shading and muscle defininition on the sculpt are improvements on the actual art inspiring this figure, and the wire connecting the billy clubs looks perfect. Koto did good here!

The complete Spider-Man ARTFX+ series was also on display at New York Comic Con. It was nice seeing the full lineup all together in one place, and it turns out that Winter Gear Spider-Man statue actually looks really fun and novel in his wintery comic book colors. You won me over, Koto! Take my 65 bucks!

Both the Daredevil ARTFX+ statues should be available for order online later this month, and are scheduled to be released in March 2018. They’re carrying a $69.99 MSRP each, which is more than I like paying for a 1/10 PVC figure, so I may hold off on pre-ordering so that I can snag these at an eventual discount (living life on the edge!).
