Japanese company Kaiyodo’s name isn’t quite synonymous with “Marvel figures”, but that’s not to say that they haven’t produced their fair share of them as Revoltech figures. Of course, all but one of those Kaiyodo Revoltech Marvel figures have something in common: they’re all figures of various permutations of the Iron Man armor–and their next release will be no exception! Coming to America in November 2013, the all-new Iron Man 3 Revoltech Iron Man Mark 42 figure is now up for order!

Because “Revoltech” isn’t exactly a household name, a lot of Marvel figure collectors may have never even seen Revoltech’s Marvel action figures. Even so, the Iron Man Revoltech line of figures has been highly successful for Kaiyodo, and they’ve previously released all seven of the first Iron Mark 1 through Mark 7 armors.

In fact, some of the previous Revoltech Iron Man figures are so sought-after that they regularly sell for $90-$150 on ebay, with the Revoltech Iron Man Mark IV being the most expensive on the aftermarket.

Though the Mark XLII Iron Man armor isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it is Tony Stark’s main armor in the Iron Man 3 movie, and as such the Kaiyodo Revoltech Iron Man Mark 42 6″ figure will take its well-deserved place as Sci-Fi Revoltech #49 when it’s released next month.

While the Kaiyodo 6″ Iron Man Revoltech movie figures don’t have as much articulation as some of their counterparts (the Mark 42 Iron Man has a decent 18 points), what they do have going for them is the excellent Revoltech quality.

What Revoltech’s Iron Man figures lack in articulation, they make up with masterful paint applications and gorgeous sculpting details. Front and back, short of Hot Toys, these are some of the nicest and best-looking Iron Man movie action figures released by any company.

As crazy as it may sound, my favorite aspect of this particular Revoltech Mark 42 Iron Man figure has to do with armor pieces that aren’t on the figure itself. Kaiyodo had the amazingly clever idea to include some blasting effects pieces that can be combined with a Revoltech flight stand so that it can look like the Mark XLII armor is rocketing around independently on its way to join Tony Stark, just like in Iron Man 3! This is easily the most innovative and fun idea that Kaiyodo had with this figure.

The Revoltech Iron Man Mark XLII figure is now available for order from BigBadToyStore, with an expected delivery date of November 2013. Kaiyodo has not yet announced a Revoltech Iron Patriot figure, but given that they release every major armor from the Iron Man movies, it’s only a matter of time until they do. I’d expect the Iron Patriot Revoltech to arrive sometime in 2014.
