SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Odin Series Figures Photos!

Heading into San Diego Comic Con 2014, we really didn’t know what to expect from the Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ figures line. With no major Marvel movies scheduled for 2015 beyond Avengers, would Hasbro opt for a second series of Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends or X-Men Legends? Nope! Hasbro is taking the safe and smart route, kicking off their SDCC 2014 reveals–and the Marvel Legends 2015 figures line–with the Avengers Marvel Legends Odin Build-A-Figure Series!

Avengers Marvel Legends Infinite Series Wave 1 SDCC 2014With the Avengers Age of Ultron movie coming next year poised to be the biggest superhero film since, well… ever, it was a no-brainer for Hasbro to produce a 2015 Marvel Legends Avengers figure line. And since it requires at least a year lead-time to bring a figure from scratch to stores, there was never any legitimate chance of the Avengers Marvel Legends Infinite Series Wave 1 being movie-based.

Instead, we’re getting comic-based 6″ Marvel Legends Avengers action figures from a very wide spectrum of headliner characters and obscure ones, and for the most part the Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Wave 1 looks like a real winner!

Avengers Marvel Legends 2015 Odin Build-A-Figure SDCC 2014

6″ Marvel Legends Avengers Series 1 (Odin Series) will consist of:

  • Marvel Legends Odin Build-A-Figure
  • Marvel Legends Captain Marvel Carol Danvers (with alternate head)
  • Marvel Legends Machine Man
  • Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch
  • Marvel Legends Marvel NOW! Thor (from cancelled Marvel Legends 2013 Series)
  • Marvel Legends Sentry (from cancelled Marvel Legends 2013 Series)

In addition to these figures, it’s rumored that the cancelled 2013 Marvel Legends Hawkeye Classic Variant and Marvel Legends Bulldozer figures will both be included as part of this series (in fact, Hawkeye was originally in the display for this series and was then pulled from it!). Hopefully Hasbro will give clarification on this matter within the next day or two at SDCC 2014.

Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series Scarlet Witch Figure SDCC 2014From this initial range of reveals, it’s near-impossible to pick a favorite! Fans have been waiting for a good classic Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch figure since Toybiz’s utter fail of a Scarlet Witch in 2005, so the new Scarlet Witch Marvel Legends 2015 figure is certain to be a favorite of many collectors (and probably ridiculous to track down at retail). Scarlet Witch’s hex energy effects look awesome!

2015 Marvel Legends Sentry Figure Avengers Wave 1It’s pretty thrilling to see several more of the cancelled Marvel Legends figures from past years finally making it into stores as well. While last year’s Marvel Legends 2011 Thor retool didn’t excite me when he debuted at SDCC 2013 (and still does not), I am pretty amped about finally getting that Marvel Legends The Sentry figure we were promised so long ago! I know the Sentry isn’t at the top of everyone’s list, but I love that character.

Marvel NOW Thor Marvel Legends Figure from San Diego Comic Con 2013From an obscurity standpoint, Nextwave star and longtime Marvel character Machine Man is the biggest shocker of these early reveals! I’m not convinced he’s appropriate for an Avengers line, but I’m sure not going to complain! His shiny purple paint and alternate extended hands look terrific. Hopefully Hasbro doesn’t overproduce this guy, though–I’m not sure he’s going to make a huge splash in stores.

Machine Man Marvel Legends 2015 Action Figure SDCC 2014

And while the Marvel Legends Odin Build-A-Figure itself is long overdue, he’s not the character I’m favoring the most in this wave either. My very favorite of the first six figures that Hasbro showed on Day 1 of SDCC 2014 for next year’s Marvel Legends lineup is definitely the new 6″ Carol Danvers Captain Marvel Marvel Legends figure!

If Hasbro had only included her All-New Marvel NOW! masked look I would be flipping out, but they also included her unmasked, short-hair look, and all is right with the world. I am really, truly delighted Hasbro is giving us a new Marvel Legends Carol Danvers figure–now let’s get a Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel Marvel Legends figure into development, Hasbro!

Marvel Legends 2015 Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Figure HasbroHasbro Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series Wave 1 is scheduled to be released in January/February 2015. I’ll post an update here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page once the series goes up for order, so keep your eyes peeled for the pre-order of this awesome lineup.

Are you impressed with Hasbro’s first series of Avengers Marvel Legends 2015 6″ figures, Marvel collectors? Will you be picking up this whole wave and building a Marvel Legends Odin of your very own, or does this assortment not appeal to you?

SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Odin Series Figures Photos! — 19 Comments

  1. I think that BAF Odin is pretty sweet. Marvel NOW! Thor is a bit odd-looking, but in general, is a pretty close approximation to Esad Ribic’s recent work in Thor: God of Thunder. Scarlet Witch is odd, too (I think it’s that upper torso articulation…maybe the face, too). Machine Man is straight-up faithful to the current rendition in Ultimate FF. But, that Carol Danvers-Captain Marvel is really impressive.

  2. “now let’s get a Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel Marvel Legends figure into development, Hasbro”

    Yeah, let’s not.

Hasbro. Hasbro, Hasbro, Hasbro. Where. Is. Bulldozer? Where is Rescue? This is a nice wave and all but let’s release the Blades and the Moonstars before we move on to Thor figures nobody needs.

Odin is a stellar choice, mind you. But it again begs the question “why are we still not getting an Enchantress and Executioner?”.

    Props on Scarlet Witch.

  3. Fantastic this new wave avengers
Congratulations to your blog. I’m from Spain and thanks to the blog I keep up with the latest news Marvel Legends missing here. For some time I believed that no longer manufactured.
Scarlet witch, Odin, Carol Danvers … Ugh I want them all

  4. I’m right there with you on the “yeah, let’s not” For Kamala Khan” No rue costume yet. Powers are still unexplained for the most part and most importantly, SHE’S JUST BEEN INTRODUCED AS A CHARACTER!! She is not a “legend”! Funny how he worries and hopes Machine Man isn’t over produced because he’s an obscure character (never mind that he is a true Marvel Legend), but hopes for (the totally obscure and lucky if her book makes it out of the year) a KK Ms Marvel. As for “obscure” characters, I’m hoping the “secret swap figure” will be the Blue Marvel.

    • While the name of this line is Marvel Legends, let’s not kid ourselves: not every character released in this line is a “legend” by a longshot.

The Marvel NOW! Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan is one of the better-selling and critically-loved new heroes that Marvel has created in years, and she’s a hot commodity right now with a lot of buzz and a solid fan base behind her. We’re talking about a character here whose comic book is currently outselling Captain America, Iron Man and the Fantastic Four. And the current Ms. Marvel series is selling significantly better than the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel series, and I don’t see anyone saying Captain Marvel doesn’t belong in this lineup. So yes, I do think that she would sell much better at retail than Machine Man. I love Machine Man, but sorry–he’s not a popular character and hasn’t been in decades. Kamala Khan is a hot character right now, fully deserving of action figure treatment in the near future.

      • “Future” maybe. NEAR future? Uh Uh. She needs to get in line behind a great many who came before her that definitely deserve Marvel Legends consideration more than she does.

        • She’s PC ethnic appeasement. Bottom line. That, in and of itself, is not deserving of “Legends” status. See: Nick Fury Jr., She-Thor and Falcon America. That aside, where is the Monica Captain Marvel? Yeah. Nonexistent, that’s where. And she’s far more deserving of an action figure.

          • Replying to Michael Lewis since the “reply” link under his comment doesn’t exist,

If you weren’t so indoctrinated into wallowing in white guilt and parroting knee jerk responses over someone pointing out the obvious you wouldn’t be so offended.

Nick Fury is black now. So is Cap. And Ms. Marvel is middle-eastern. “Awesome”, etc.

Tell me nobody would be offended if Marvel (at the direction of anti-Christ Mickey) made Storm white, Luke Cage look just like Tom Hanks and turned Northstar into a straight married suburban man. That’s right, you can’t. Because PC is nothing but a double standard designed to make people feel ashamed of being white and straight and proud of being anything else.

I refuse to renounce my intrinsic value as a human being because I am not endorsed by the PC mafia.

I find your response classless, Lewis.

          • Aye! Monica/Spectrum/Capt.Marvel is overdue her respect in immortal plastic. She is to the Avengers what Storm is to the X-men!
About THAT part, you could not be mistaken. Even though I am using a Black Cat base to make a custom of Monica,I await for an official Legends figure for the masses..for all of Marvel fandom!

      • I have to agree with Dabid on this one. “Legend” is just the title of the line and shouldn’t be taken so literally and also agree that Kamala Khan is currently more popular with current Marvel comic fans than Machine Man. It’s just good business to make a figure of her now to capitalize on that popularity vs one that’s not at the forefront right now.

      • “ONLY FIGURES 1-6 ABOVE CONTAIN PARTS TO BUILD TERRAX.
ALL ARE LEGENDS!” Rotml blistercard 2011-end of quote.

      • You’ve got to be joking, from a collector standpoint, Machine Man is going to be a huge hit, regardless of his current popularity or lack thereof. What I think that a lot of people are missing is that the “obscure” characters are the ones that collectors chase after. How many Wolverines, Spideys, Caps, and Iron Mans do we need? We all have dozens of those already. However a Machine Man figure, that’s something that none of us have in our collections, (unless we customized one) and it’s going to be something all of us are going to be chasing. You have to remember also that a lot of collectors don’t necessarily keep up with the current comics, who can afford to? Any Marvel, comic accurate character hitting the shelves becomes an instant chase figure as I see it. Consider Nova from the Guardians wave – I heard it broke some kind of sales record for a Hasbro Marvel Legends figure, and how about Emma Frost, from the Puck wave – impossible to find.
Anyhow, those are my two cents.

    • The anthem of a hero. A hero’s goal? “Liberty and justice for ALL..” MachineMan, KK*Ms.Marvel, Spectrum, Hope Summers, Blue Marvel, Blade, Misty Knight, Iron Fist, Jewel, White Tiger, Northstar…ALL are legends!
Equality for all the Marvel multiverse “infinite” legends.

  5. While I’m happy with this wave – Odin is long overdue! – I’m sad that there is no Avengers Movie line this year. But imo that Scarlet Witch face sculpt is only marginally better than the ToyBiz one and too bad they aren’t using the new Drax mold for their bigger figures like Sentry.

  6. Really great AVENGERS line. Scarlet With is way overdue and Captain Marvel is marvelous. The Sentry is the #1 unreleased Legends figure I’ve wanted. This series just makes me really happy since we’re getting 4 (and counting) of the canceled figures and they all look sweet. (Thor, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, Sentry). Machine Man does seem like an odd choice but he looks spot on so I dig it. Finally the BAF Odin is a great choice as well and the fact that’s there’s a variant King Thor BAF pieces is even better. I’m hoping there’s at least 2 more figures left to be revealed. Since this is a series full of unreleased Legends, I hope they continue that trend with Bulldozer (So I can complete my Wrecking Crew Finally) and another villain either Batroc, Blizzard, or Tiger Shark. 🙂

  7. I’m SO happy there’s no movie line to this wave! More importantly, Hasbro revealed more figures in this wave. Classic Hawkeye is indeed making it into this assortment as well as Iron Fist (both from last year’s failed “swap” series). Here’s the thing though: the “secret swap figure” is the BUILD a FIGURE!!! You can build either All Father Odin, or King Thor (Marvel Now!). There’s a Destroyer arm for King Thor as well as his head sculpt sans helmet.I’m assuming Odin’s arm comes with Gungnir because Thor’s arm comes with an axe. I’m also thinking there’s another figure to the wave (hopefully Bulldozer) because as-is, the math doesn’t add up (if they give single parts per figure).

    • The guys at Hasbro-Marvel answered this question. The females will be “swap a figures” and they’ll include both heads and left arms of the respective build a figures. Also there are two different capes (Blue-Odin, Red-KIng Thor) and they’ll come with Gungnir and Jarnbjorn respectively. Good note: The swaps will all be in the same cases.

  8. The original marvel legends line was so much better! Yes i am buying a few figures of the new figures but the excitement of the old toy biz line is long gone. No variants , no chase figures just a plethora of the same figures over and over…boring! how many more iron man, Captain America, Thor, and spiderman figures do we really need:(
