Comic Con Paris: 2019 Marvel Legends Loki & Grey Gargoyle!

Marvel Legends news has been in short supply in the weeks following New York Comic Con 2018, but the drought is over this weekend with two major international events going on–both complete with their own new Marvel Legends 2019 reveals! And from Comic Con Paris today, we got a first look at two classic villains that have been waiting eons to get 6″Hasbro super-articulated figures of their own: the 2019 Marvel Legends Loki (Comic Book Version) and Grey Gargoyle figures!

Marvel Legends Paris Comic Con Reveals Loki Grey Gargoyle Genis Vell

While Hasbro brought along some awesome reveals as always to New York Comic Con 2018 and San Diego Comic-Con 2018 earlier this year, they’ve generously been hanging onto some new Marvel Legends 2019 figure announcements to take to international conventions this year. After already premiering new figures in Canada and Mexico, this weekend they’ll be showcasing never-before-seen figures in Paris and also London!

And following the Comic Con Paris panel, Hasbro PR has been kind enough to already send over hi-res photos of the two new figures debuting at that show: Classic Loki and Grey Gargoyle!

2019 Avengers Marvel Legends Loki Figure Classic Comics BasedAs crazy as it sounds, given how popular and prominent the character is in both the comic books and the Marvel movies, Hasbro has never mass-released a male 6″ Loki comic-based figure before (although there was an exclusive one once and even a female Loki)! Craziness, right?!

But fear not, Loki lovers–a classic Loki Marvel Legends figure has now been announced for an Avengers Legends 2019 assortment, joining previously-revealed figures from that series such as Hercules and (presumably) Beta Ray Bill. I genuinely would have preferred a kid Loki or even a teen version, but perhaps we’ll get those in time. For now, I’ll settle for this classic comics iteration.

2019 Marvel Legends Grey Gargoyle Figure Hi-ResAnd speaking of classic comic book villains: Marvel Legends Grey Gargoyle made his debut at Paris Comic Con as well! This is a character that traditionally has sold really poorly as far as collectibles go (his Toybiz and Bowen Designs items both sold direly), but Grey Gargoyle is also long-overdue for some six inch figure love.

Grey Gargoyle will be joining the Captain Marvel Legends Kree Sentry Series alongside the four movie figures and the other figure now confirmed for that wave: Genis-Vell! We saw Genis at SDCC 2018, and it was assumed he’d be in the Kree Sentry series, but it’s nice to get confirmation that it’s for sure today. Peter David made me love Genis-Vell, so I’m excited to get a new figure of the (sadly) long-dead hero/villain.

Captain Marvel Marvel Legends Genis Vell Figure Hi ResAll three of these 2019 Marvel Legends figures should be up for order in spring 2019, and all of them will be mass-release figures and not store exclusives. I’ll continue posting photos and information about the Kree Sentry and Avengers waves as more details regarding the assortments and their firm releases are revealed.

It seems that there’s just one slot left for the Captain Marvel series: Who are you hoping gets that comic book-based spot? And based on what we’ve seen from them, are you excited about the Avengers and Kree Sentry series heading our way next spring?

Comic Con Paris: 2019 Marvel Legends Loki & Grey Gargoyle! — 18 Comments

  1. I hope there is an alternate head for Grey Gargoyle. I don’t want him smiling like a joker. He’s a serious villain.

  2. An easy one for them to do in the Captain Marvel wave would be Moonstone, who has impersonated Carol on more than one occasion, but if I could choose, I’d like them to do Noh-Varr, from Marvel Boy/Dark Avengers/Young Avengers. The “Protector” figure from years back was not the version of the character I think most fans would want.

  3. I’m with MagsFG. I think the Super-Skrull would be perfect for this wave. However, what I don’t think people are taking into consideration is there is no Marvel representation of Carol Danvers. in her own wave. I think Hasbro will either “cheap out” and reissue the Captain Marvel figure with new head sculpt (she wears her hair longer nowadays), or (preferably) Ms Marvel (hopefully with interchangeable heads. One being Karla Sofen). Guess we’ll see.

    • don’t most waves have at least 2 female characters? i assume that means the 7th figure in this wave would be female so Moonstone or a classic Ms. Marvel figure would seem likely candidates.

  4. I’m loving the Grey Gargoyle and Loki classic versions. Now for a vintage 70s/80s Quasar!

  5. Alriiight, finally a 6″ classic Loki figure. I’ve been waiting for this for years. Just recently I gave in and purchased the 3 3/4″ version as conulation and now you give me this great news. Would love to see other asgardians done in classic comic book version as well.

  6. Genis-vell is great and i’ll definitely get him.

Grey Gargoyle looks scrawny and doesn’t really look made of stone to me but i’ll wait for a better look at the figure before making a final judgement.

Loki is a bit of a slap in the face for anyone that’s been waiting a long time for a classic comic version – just seems lazy. painted on scales? Pass, i’ll keep using my old toybiz version, loose joints and all. I hope Hasbro puts a little more effort in when they finally get around to releasing a classic comic Thor.

Agree with others that Super-Skrull would be a nice final addition to the wave, but i dunno, he’s seems like he should be a BAF or deluxe figure like Archangel, with extra arms to display different FF powers. Still, i’d buy a single card release.

I hope the final figure in the wave is a cosmic character but as it stands i’m not really excited about the BAF yet so there’s a decent chance i’ll be cherry picking this wave.

    • I agree with bashbash, Grey Gargoyle body shouldn’t looks so smooth. He should .have a more corse apperance.

    • I am so tired of Hasbro giving us no detail on comic figures. Still waiting on a captain America with sculpted scales and I will continue to wait for a good Loli

  7. While I agree with the general sentiment that Hasbro shouldn’t have cheaped out on this classic Loki figure, I’m just g;lad to finally see they put out one, as well as a Grey Gargoyle figure FINALLY, even though he’s a little on the small side for me. The bigger Tiger Shark body buck would’ve been better, but again, at least he’s finally been made. Can’t wait to buy.

  8. Those three look like they are headed straight for the discount bin. The face sculpts look really bad, and overall Loki is no better than a custom figure. I mean, printed rather than sculpted scales? No paint detail?

  9. B, I have a strong suspicion that if the vintage, Toy-Biz style waves keep going, we could get classic Thor next, but that would be a while. If I were Hasbro, I’d keep that series going simultaneously, and put all the classic-style characters on the cardbacks.

  10. Wow, will Hasbro finally stop ignoring the rest of the world? Now, there’s still a difference between showing them at a show and actually selling them at retail for reasonable prices.
