Marvel Legends Beast! Citizen V! Union Jack! MCM London!

This is a unique, landmark weekend for Hasbro, because for the very first time ever, they’re unveiling new 2019 Marvel Legends figures at two major international conventions in separate countries in Europe! At Comic Con Paris, we got our first gander at the new Grey Gargoyle and Loki figures. And now, at MCM London, three more figures been revealed for the first Avengers and X-Men waves of 2019: Union Jack, Citizen V… and Jim Lee Beast!

Marvel Legends MCM London Comic Con Reveals

On Friday, Hasbro unceremoniously plunked Spider-Man Legends Puma and Six-Armed Spider-Man six inch figures into their display case at MCM London Comic Con, and lots of fans thought that that might be it for the show as far as ML reveals go.

But when I sent a friend in England over to the booth to snap photos of Six-Armed Spider-Man and the Puma, they had been pulled from the display case for whatever reason. O… kay. Hasbro must have put them out early by accident and took them away to show as the sole new reveals at their Sunday panel, right…?

Nope! As it turns out, Hasbro was holding out on us with yet three more all-new reveals at the show, including two that I reckon few were expecting!

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Beast Figure (X-Men wave)But first, the final figure in the 2019 Marvel Legends X-Men Caliban Series: Jim Lee Beast! Rumors have been circulating for a while that we’d finally get an update of Mrs. McCoy’s Bouncing Blue Baby Boy, and here he is in all his blue-furred glory!

Many collectors were fooled into thinking we wouldn’t see a new Marvel Legends Beast in this series after it was revealed that the Build-A-Figure for the wave was Caliban, but it turns out we’re not going to have to build Beast at all–he’s a single-carded figure that’s guaranteed to be a hot commodity!

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Union Jack Figure (Avengers wave)In addition to Beast, we got to see a new Marvel Legends Union Jack figure and the first-ever action figure (to my knowledge) of Citizen V! Hasbro has made it a bit of a tradition to reveal a related character reveal to a country where it’s having a showing (ie Alpha Flight in Canada, Grey Gargoyle in France, etc.), so it’s not shocking to see Union Jack appear for the first time in England.

Unveiling Citizen V–a character draped in an American flag–at a convention in Europe is a little bit odd, however, but hey–I’ve loved Citizen V since Kurt Busiek’s Thunderbolts series in the 90s, and I am delighted beyond belief to finally get a Marvel Legends Citizen V. In my mind, it’s definitely going to be Baron Zemo under that mask!

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Citizen V Figure (Avengers wave)Beast will be the last figure in next year’s one and only known X-Men Marvel Legends series, whereas Citizen V and Union Jack will be part of the first Avengers Marvel Legends series of 2019. Pre-orders for both sets should be open online in early 2019, with the assortments scheduled to be released in Spring 2019.

Thoughts on the latest additions to next year’s Marvel Legends collection? Are you excited to see any of these characters getting the 6″ super-articulated treatment from Hasbro, or are these all washed-up to you?

Marvel Legends Beast! Citizen V! Union Jack! MCM London! — 19 Comments

  1. I like the look of this Beast better than the just-released Select, but still hope for an alternate head with reading glasses and a more studious look.

BUT the real highlight of this reveal is that Citizen V! OMG! If we get a Moonstone/Meteorite in the Captain Marvel wave we’d be 3 characters deep into an original Thunderbolts lineup and I would be thrillllllled. Even after Songbird came out, I had doubts we’d see any other T-bolts.

  2. Also, does that make the 1st Avengers Wave:
    Ebony Maw
    Corvus Glaive
    Beta Ray Bill
    Loki
    Grey Gargoyle
    Citizen V
    Union Jack

    and a BAF?
Maybe an early year release before they get into an Avengers 4 wave later? Seems like an odd lineup to me, plus we still have Living Laser and Nighthawk to go somewhere, so I’m betting that’s not right.

    • You forgot Hercules, somewhere in there. I would think Beta Ray or Loki would go into the Captain Marvel wave?

    • Hasbro said that Beta ray bill, Hercules, loki, union Jack, Citizen V, Living laser and Night hawk will all be the comic figures for like 3 different avengers waves, and yes grey gargoyle will be in the captain marvel wave

  3. Beast is a definite pick up for me. Not really into citizen v or Union Jack as characters but they are good looking figures for sure!!

  4. Loving Beast. I think I’m noticing the toe articulation for the first time. Looks great. Union Jack looks cool as well. Citizen V is a bit after my time reading the comics, but he looks kinda intriguing I guess, so…

On a side note, I’m super stoked we’re finally getting a comic Loki. But I’m so used to seeing with a cape that I think including one would make this version feel more special. Not necessarily accurate to that specific version, but it would make this release feel more like a big deal. Just my 2 cents…

  5. I’ve never heard of Citizen V (having stopped collecting that far into the Dark Ages of Comics), but Beast and Union Jack look sweet.

  6. FINALLY a Puma figure! Pleasantly surprised that they’re giving us a Citizen V figure, as well as much-needed redo of Union Jack. We’re even getting a proper Jim Lee Beast, which leaves Jim Lee Storm, Banshee, Dazzler and Longshot if they’re feeling extra generous.

Damn Hasbro, you guys are showing no chill for the hurting my wallets’ going to take next year.

  7. All I want is Beast! I’m noticing all the articulation in his sculpt and I see they made sure to make him as flexible as he can be! I hope he comes with a second head and hands, whatever the case I need him now!!!

    • Beast is definitely coming with extra hands. Here’s hoping Hasbro goes the Thing route and gives us that extra head too!

  8. I’ll be getting the Beast to replace the one I have in my Avengers collection, and Citezen V for the expansion of my original. Thunderbolts. Union Jack doesn’t really look that much different .from the one I already have, in fact he looks kinda scrawny to me, and .the ankle joints look kinda awkward to me. I think I’ll pass on this one unless additional photos can convince me otherwise.

  9. Maybe I am just too picky…but I am just like “Meh” with these announcements.
So far, I am only excited for Hercules, Corvus Glaive, and Mystique.
Red Goblin is probably one I’ll go for after I see and judge in person.
Emma hasn’t been announced or shown yet, but she will probably be on the list too…if she is well done.

I wish Loki was a more modern comic version. I also wish they would redo Nightcrawler but with an updated head.

  10. Like everyone else, I think Beast looks fantastic and will definitely be worth the upgrade from the old ToyBiz one (though I may see if the labcoat and glasses still fit). Personally, I’m very excited for Citizen V as I think it’s a great design and I was a big Thunderbolts fan when the series first came out. Plus given that they teased the name of the team on the cardback of ToyBiz ML series 1, it’s about time! Hopefully we don’t have to wait another nearly 20 years to get the rest of the team!

  11. CITIZEN V looks great. I loved the original Thunderbolts! Great concept!
I’m hoping for an Atlas BAF soon as well as Techno and Mach IV….AND JOLT! In regards to BEAST…”Oh my stars and garters!” He looks amazing. I love they are rounding out the blue team so fast. Lets hope the gold team gets the figure treatment now! We need Storm, Iceman and A new Jean Grey! Union Jack looks good. We need a Baron Blood for him to hunt. Good stuff all around.
