SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends Radioactive Man & Ms. Marvel Set!

Ordinarily I wouldn’t be particularly enthralled by a company revealing the same figure two years in a row at San Diego Comic-Con, but in this instance I’m willing to make an exception. One of the Marvel Legends figures that appeared at last year’s event and was thought to be lost forever is making a comeback at SDCC 2014–as part of a store-exclusive three-pack! It’s the Marvel Legends Radioactive Man, Ms. Marvel and Ultimate Captain America figures box set!

SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends Radioactive Man Ms Marvel Captain America Target Exclusive Three Pack

What was once thought lost (maybe forever!) has now been found: the awesome partially-translucent Marvel Legends Radioactive Man figure that debuted at SDCC 2013 is on display in packaged form at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and will finally be coming to stores later this year! Radioactive Man will be packaged in a three-pack with a new Marvel Legends Ms. Marvel figure and (yet another release for) the Marvel Legends Ultimate Captain America figure.

While my eyes roll at seeing the Ultimate Captain America figure show its face again (this time with a second Steve Rogers face, though), I know many collectors still need a Ms. Marvel Marvel Legends 6″ figure, so the returning characters aren’t a total wash. Radioactive Man is definitely the big prize in this box set for me, though!

SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Legends Ms Marvel Radioactive Man Captain America Set Target ExclusiveI’ve heard a lot of groaning and grumbling already about the fact that this Marvel Legends Infinite Series Box Set is expected to be a Target exclusive, but I’ve no idea why. I’ve had more success finding exclusives at Target than any other store, and I genuinely can’t remember the last time a Hasbro Marvel Target exclusive ended up being at all difficult to acquire.

Honestly, I’m thrilled that this Radioactive Man Marvel Legends three-pack will be available at a retailer where I’m confident distribution isn’t going to be a problem.

Marvel Legends 2014 Radioactive Man Target Exclusive FigureThe Marvel Legends Ms. Marvel/Radioactive Man/Captain America box set is scheduled to be released in fall 2014. No price-point is known yet for the set, but my best guesstimate (which counts for nothing) would be $49.99-$59.99. I’ll update once Hasbro confirms the specific details of this set, and you can ‘Like’ Marvel Toy News on Facebook to have news and photos beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed.

Are you glad that Hasbro is finally releasing the 6″ Marvel Legends Radioactive Man action figure, Marvel collectors, or would you have preferred they had opted for a more high-profile release such as Blade instead? Will this box set be on your late 2014 shopping list?

SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends Radioactive Man & Ms. Marvel Set! — 16 Comments

  1. Another Captain America ?? Hasbro has made so many figures!! Can we see a set, that has a figure that is RARE ?

  2. Hasbro is always stealing our money: releasing the same characters to earn more and more, reusing the molds and lowering the quality of the best brand of toys: ToyBiz. They are selling a good figure at the price of 3.

    • Uhmmm exactly how is Hasbro “stealing our money” if we willfully give it to them?!?! Last I checked, action figure collecting was an elective, not a mandatory bill.

  3. Try selling a major retail chain on an exclusive multi-pack of 6″ collector figures without having it anchored by a household name and without leveraging repaints to keep the unit cost down. Hasbro, retail, and the fans are all in this together. Either everybody wins or everybody loses. This is everybody winning. If you want to see what everybody losing looks like, check out Mattel and their DCUC subcription program.

    • There’s nothing wrong with anchoring a multi-pack with a big name character. The problem in this instance is that Hasbro picked one of the biggest sales duds and overproduced figures from the last two years of Marvel Legends figures as the household name figure. If people didn’t want to buy Ultimate Cap when until he was being blown out for 70% off at Target and TJ Maxx, he’s not exactly a great figure to include as part of an expensive box set. If Hasbro wants box sets like this to sell well and continue, putting a particularly unpopular and poor-selling figure like that Captain America in the box is not the way to go. Even a repainted Steve Rogers from Marvel Legends 2011 would have been better-received than what they opted for.

      • Honestly, at this price point, I think collectors will be the only ones buying this set. That being said, I think it would sell better with another chase figure included and would represent a better value for collectors. Basically we will be paying sixty bucks for two figures because all of us already have plenty of Cap figures. Personally, I’m fine with the ToyBiz Ms. Marvel I’ve got sitting on the shelf (my son disagrees), so for me, I’m basically looking at spending sixty bucks for Radioactive Man. I’d much rather get him for twenty bucks in single pack.

  4. This is definitely going on my list.
Radioactive Man is a real winner. The clear plastic makes it a knock-out, and I’ll be happy to add to my collection.
The Cap is a waste, but ok, box sets get anchored with a major character.
But whatever because they are finally making a new Warbird on the Moonstone body. This is a HUGE want for me and I’ll buy the boxset just to get her. Otherwise I’d likely pass.

    • Not to mention it’s kool getting Carol Danvers twice in less than six months!n

  5. I know people like to bag on the Cap included with this set, but I’m actually really glad that was the one they went with- I was pretty dissatisfied with the UltCap we got in the Hit Monkey series, the blue was too bland, and he didn’t have shoulder stars. This release fixes the colors and the shoulder stars (sort of), and it looks like it’d be pretty easy to customize him into a Classic Cap if I could get my hands on a US Agent figure for parts.

  6. They can make as many Cap figures as they want, they all supercede its predecessor but WOW! Ms. Marvel (although the same head and body mold of the new released and limited Moonstone figure, but who cares, she’s beautiful!) and a Radioactive Man figure box set, my money’s on the table for this box set!

  7. I hope someone reads this! This website is where I first found out about this 3-Pack. I have looked everywhere, but I can’t find a place that sells it. I called a Toystore that I order figures from and they said they’d try to find it, but incase they do not, is there a site that ships to America that carries this product?!

Please, someone let me know! I really REALLY need this set.

  8. Currently at Target in Virgina for $24… you’re basically getting one figure at the regular price plus two more for an additional $5.
