SDCC 2017 Hasbro Marvel Panel: Mysterio! Defenders! Apocalypse!

The main event of San Diego Comic Con 2017 for Marvel Legends collectors has finally arrived! I’ll write up comprehensive listings with details and hi-res images of all these figures as I have the time and official images become available, but for now, here’s a short roundup and recap of all the SDCC 2017 Hasbro Marvel panel reveals…

Marvel Legends Medusa Walgreens Exclusive

Hasbro is going to be attending several other conventions this fall and winter (including the inaugural HasCon in Rhode Island in September), so they didn’t show off quite as much as they have in years past as far as Marvel Legends figures go, but they did show us a ton of new stuff nonetheless!

I don’t believe we saw the complete wave of anything except the Vintage Series Marvel Legends figures in Toybiz tribute packaging, but let’s sift through the slides from the panel and see what we can see, shall we?

The Thing will be coming to complete the team later. No word on Silver Surfer, although I’d strongly suspect we’ll be seeing him announced by New York Toy Fair 2018.

Now that we’ve seen everything that Hasbro’s going to show in San Diego this year, what do you think, Marvel collectors? What figures are you looking forward to coming over the course of the next year, and what are you hoping to see revealed at HasCon and New York Comic-Con 2017 this fall?

SDCC 2017 Hasbro Marvel Panel: Mysterio! Defenders! Apocalypse! — 21 Comments

  1. So much to process here…

So glad that there will be a new X-Men wave for 2018! yay to the Apocalypse BAF! A likely candidate, I thought.

Happy that the FF collection will continue. Sue Storm is lonely on my shelf (even though HERBIE is there too lol).

I’m kind of surprised that there will soon be two choices for Black Widow. Might not really care about the motorcycle too much and I love the retro cardbacks on those Vintage figures.

While I’m at it…will I rebuy that Wolvie because of the unmasked head and the cardback? Time will tell!

Funny…was wondering when “green undies” Namor would turn up.

That Lizard BAF looks kind of weird to me. At first I was bummed out that I would probably never put it together…but now I don’t think I care.

Mysterio on the other hand looks GREAT!!!

SOOOO happy about Deathlok! I’ve been waiting!

X-23 is another figure I’ll be tracking down.

Very happy with the news coming out of SDCC!

  2. Yay! Marvel Legends X-men wave! Has there been any rumblings about who the figures might be? Really hoping for Psylocke, Jubilee and Storm. Stoked for Apocalypse BAF though I’m not a fan of the blue/gray color combo used on him. Hope he towers over the X-men but not by much. The previous Apocalypse BAF doesn’t quite work next to Galactus BAF.

Cool Vintage Wolverine. I was lucky enough to find the Juggernaut Series Wolverine (Brown/Yellow) at TRU last week so we’ll see if this is a pick-up for me. Will have to judge from better pics of the maskless head and what looks like a mask (?)

That Thanos looks pretty good too but hoping he’s different enough from the Thanos BAF. I’m not a fan of that one. I much preferred the Marvel Select Thanos.

    • I’m with you as far as the wish list for the next X-Men wave is concerned! When I get thinking about it, I really want to see Magik, Nightcrawler, Forge, Banshee, Cannonball, Beast, Rachel Summers, Bishop, Gambit, Archangel, and Professor X w/ hoverchair. Figures I don’t expect to ever see but still would hope for: Chamber and 80s-style Dazzler. It would also be great if more villains could get squeezed in. I really wish Hasbro could pump out X-Men figures more quickly!

      • I’m using the Marvel Select Storm with her Giant-Size X-men costume and also the Marvel Select Gambit so I’m really hoping for an in-scale Ororo and Remy soon. I’m not too in a hurry for an Xavier as I just got one off ebay with the regular wheel-chair (but would be nice to get one (maybe in the same wave as the motorcycles one? LOL) and also got the mullet Bishop and The Beast. I agree we need better Banshee and Archangel. The old Toybiz Nightcrawlers look perfect to me but they cost an arm and a leg so yea I agree they need to release a new one. Would also like a White Queen with a size appropriate head (unlike the Annihilus wave one).

        • Haha yep same thing here with Storm and Gambit in my collection! I also have the Marvel Select as my Nightcrawler at the moment. I find that I greatly prefer the overall style of the Legends figures over the Selects. And yeah, I guess that my old Toy Biz Professor X looks okay. You’re right to mention White Queen, pretty important X-Character I overlooked.

          • I’m hoping for at least one more 90’s X-Force figure in the next X-line. We’ll have/be getting Shatterstar, 90’s Cable, 90’s Deadpool, Domino. There’s a pretty okay 90’s Cannonball and Warpath out there somewhere if you can find/afford them. I wouldn’t mind being able to add Rictor, Feral, Siryn or Boom Boom to that lineup.

  3. I’m stoked to be getting an X-23 figure! That Apocalypse BAF looks epic as well. All around a lot of great stuff.

  4. Wow can’t wait for Black Bolt, Lizard, Medusa, the hydra pack, Deathlock and The fantastic 3 even know i’m not a fan of them. Hopefully they throw Gambit, Mr Sinister and a small Apocolypse in that series. I want both sizes on him.

  5. The Spider-Punk and Mysterio figures look awesome, but I had my hopes set on seeing a Spider-man Noir figure.

  6. Ohmygod that Lizard. And Apocalypse. And Mysterio. And a better Black Widow than the bike one. Black Bolt. Medusa. Brain explosion….

  7. Because I have a need to rank things best to worst:

    Lizard BAF
    Mysterio
    Apocalypse
    Thanos
    vintage Black Widow
    Deathlok
    Gwenpool
    Cable
    Mr. Fantastic
    X-23
    vintage Captain America
    Ghost Rider’s bike
    Medusa
    Domino
    Lasher
    Human Torch
    Jessica Jones (Jewel)
    Iron Fist
    Daredevil
    Black Bolt
    Spider-Punk
    HYDRA Soldiers
    Luke Cage
    Black Widow’s bike
    Deadpool
    biker Black Widow
    Namor
    vintage Wolverine
    vintage Pizza Spidey
    vintage Iron Man
    vintage Punisher
    Venompool
    blue Ghost Rider

I stop especially caring at around Spider-Punk, so that’s actually a pretty huge list of great stuff.

  8. WOW! This is my dream come true. EVERYTHING is looking spectacular for the upcoming year. The only character I really want that hasn’t been made or announced is a Classic Doc Ock. I couldn’t be happier with this line-up. My wallet is gonna be hurting.

  9. For me, a must have would definitely have to be vintage Wolverine and Punisher. I do agree with what Chumn Li said, a classic Doc Ock would be a welcomed addition and a serious must have!

  10. For me I’m sad so many old characters that never had their day in in plastic get hopelessly overlooked as we constantly spew out the same characters! Apocalypse really?! He has been done to death and the best one will always be the 16 inch one. Better big characters include the living monolith or Dayton character, no black Toms, no count Neferais no strangers no unusual no porcupines no unicorns or lucifers. Sigh! No hellfire members no tyrannus etc.. for spider no Ox no stiltmans no Gladiators no scorpions no Hammerheads or a descent Kingpin. For Avengers at least a Nighthawk and Dr spectrum! Or a Clint Barton Goliath a swordsman Living laser, Mr Hyde Executioner, Melter, the least goes on and on. But I did like the Mysterious and Lizard very much so happy toy hunting!

  11. How about a Friends of Spiderman wave?

    Prowler
    Solo
    Rocket Racer
    Silver Sable
    Cardiac
Molten Man (this one is a no-brainer)
    Will O’ The Wisp

    Spider-slayer BAF

  12. And I agree with Tims618, all we get are modern releases, MCU related characters or 90s nostalgia because that is what is popular right now. But there is a huge gap for characters that existed for 30 years before falling into obscurity that never got major releases. Hydro-man? Sebastian Shaw? Idk. I’m not completely against what’s coming out I just wish there was an effort to reach collectors like my dad who read in the 60s, 70s, and 80s too.

  13. So who the hell is that next to silver surfer? By the way please do remember to give us his damn surfboard.
