SDCC 2017: Hot Toys Thor Ragnarok Figures! Hela! Valkyrie!

The drama and pangeantry of San Diego Comic Con 2017 Preview Night is over, and while the big Marvel Legends reveals won’t happen until Saturday night, now we can start taking a look at what has been released thus far–including a full half-dozen Hot Toys Thor Ragnarok sixth scale figures! We saw Loki and Hulk yesterday, but now it’s time for a lady’s touch with Hela and Valkyrie 12″ figures! (And oh yeah–Thor? He’s here too. Twice.)

Hot Toys Gladiator Thor SDCC 2017

Yesterday afternoon, I was entirely too excited just to see that we were getting a new Thor Ragnarok Hot Toys Loki Movie Masterpiece Series figure, and not just figures of Hulk and Thor in their gladiator costumes.

Turns out I should have held on to my excitement for something much more tantalizing, because Hot Toys had a few aces left up their sleeve: two female characters that have never been done in sixth scale form before by any company!

Hot Toys Thor Ragnarok Loki Sixth Scale Figure SDCC 2017First up: Hot Toys Hela! Cate Blanchett’s brief portrayal of Dark Galadriel has always utterly terrified me, so there’s no one I would have chosen before her to portray Hela.

Hot Toys Thor Ragnarok Hela 12 Inch FigureI never expected I’d live to see the day a 12″ Hela action figure was released–particularly not one based off her lead villain role in a live-action movie–but I’m glad that I have. This looks absolutely magnificent, and I hope we get pre-orders opened for it sooner than later.

Girls!” are in luck, because Hot Toys has a second female figure lined up for this series: the Hot Toys Valkyrie figure (that has a pretty dang good resemblance to Tessa Thompson). I really hope Valkyrie has a sizable role in Thor 3, because the toys of her have looked killer so far.

Hot Toys Roadworn Thor Figure from Thor Ragnarok

Rounding out the line, there’s two versions of Thor himself. We also got two versions of the God of Thunder when Thor The Dark World came out, so this isn’t exactly a stunning revelation.

One of the new figures is a Hot Toys Gladiator Thor figure in his gladiator gear with helmet and face-paint, whereas the other seems to be a more standard version of the titular character with chains on him: “Roadworn Thor”. No, really, I’m not making that up–that’s the official name HT is calling this figure. Weird.

I don’t particularly like the soft goods flap on the front of these Thors, but otherwise these look to be easily the best Chris Hemsworth figures that HT has ever released.

San Diego Comic Con 2017 Gladiator Hulk FigureThe Hot Toys Thor Ragnarok Movie Masterpiece Series figures should be up for order later this summer/fall, with all of them carrying a 2018 release date. It’s not totally impossible that Hot Toys could crank one out by the very end of the year, but it would be really surprising if they actually managed to.

Now that we’ve seen what’s likely to be the entire series (unless HT decides to blow our minds with a Jeff Goldblum figure), what do you think, Marvel collectors? Any figures in this series that are going to be reaching into your wallet and making it a little bit (okay, a lot) lighter this fall?

  1. I’m just afraid that Hela and Valkyrie will go the way of other lesser Hot Toys MCU characters (Yellow Jacket and Crossbones) and be forgotten 🙁
