SDCC 2017: Marvel Legends Deadpool Series Revealed & Photos!

I’ve been speculating for well over a year now about the Marvel Legends Deadpool series that I was dead certain was being planned for early 2018 to coincide with the second Deadpool movie, so it was pretty gratifying this morning to finally get concrete confirmation from Hasbro that the rumors are true, and that such a series is officially coming in the winter! While we only got to see about half the lineup so far, it’s a good one, with all-new classic Marvel Legends Domino, Cable and Deadpool figures! Oh, and Black Widow fans…? Hasbro has you covered too!

Marvel Legends 2018 Cable Figure from Deadpool Series

There’s been a “rumored” list of upcoming 2017/2018 Marvel Legends figures making the rounds online for several months now, and while not everything on that list is necessarily correct, large portions of it are correct beyond a doubt.

And lo and behold, four of the figures that were first uncovered via that leak were officially unveiled by Hasbro this morning at their SDCC 2017 Media event:

  • Marvel Legends Classic Cable (Deadpool Series)
  • Marvel Legends Classic Deadpool (Deadpool Series)
  • Marvel Legends Domino (Deadpool Series)
  • Marvel Legends 2018 Black Widow with Motorcycle (Box Set)

2018 Marvel Legends Deadpool Figure SDCC 2017For those who can’t tell at a glance, this classic Deadpool Marvel Legends figure is thinner than the one released in 2016 and also features the awesome butterfly shoulder joints, giving us the most poseable ML Wade Wilson figure ever!

Marvel Legends Back in Black Deadpool Gamestop ExclusiveIn addition to these four figures (and vehicle), a Gamestop Exclusive “Back in Black” Deadpool (“Venompool”) figure was also shown off at preview night, featuring Deadpool in his black symbiote costume from last winter’s miniseries (no, that’s a real thing that really happened–I swear). While not the craziest thing that’s ever happened to Deadpool, this is certainly up there as far as toy iterations go.

SDCC 2017 Marvel Legends Domino FigureWhile none of these figures are of characters that have never been done before in Marvel Legends form (Domino was in a Walmart exclusive two-pack back in the day), I’m pretty excited to get updated figures of all these iterations nonetheless. While I love the modern interpretations of Cable and Deadpool, my heart will always belong to their original, classic “New Mutants” looks.

SDCC 2017 Marvel Legends Black Widow Figure and MotorcycleMotorcycle fans will almost definitely have something else to look forward to next year as well, as the leaked list that confirmed all of these figures also included a brand new Marvel Legends Ghost Rider and Motorcycle set (which I suspect we’ll see premiered at the Hasbro Marvel panel on Saturday night).

Marvel Legends 2018 Deadpool Domino Cable FiguresI’ll be continuing to update with 2018 Marvel Legends news throughout the duration of San Diego Comic-Con 2017, so be sure to follow the Marvel Toy News Facebook and Twitter Pages to see the latest photos and news as it’s posted. And huge thanks to Rob Dimalanta for sending in his photos for us to share here on Marvel Toy News!

What do you think of Hasbro’s first four big reveals on Day 1 of SDCC 2017, Marvel collectors? Are you psyched to get classic versions of some of Marvel’s most popular characters, or are you bummed out that all of the reveals thus far are “rehashes” of characters we’ve had in 6″ form before?

SDCC 2017: Marvel Legends Deadpool Series Revealed & Photos! — 26 Comments

  1. Cable and Domino for sure — the modern Cable still looks off to me. 90’s Deadpool I can probably pass on; unlike a lot of people I only need one DP in my collection.

Widow looks great and is definitely due for an update, but I’m not sure if I’m willing to pay double or more the normal figure price for a motorcycle. For Ghost Rider? Maybe. But not Black Widow who doesn’t really have any connection to a bike.

    • Actually, on a closer look, I take that back about the Widow. It looks like she’s using the MCU Maria Hill upper body (too scrawny for comic characters and probably makes the head look gigantic), and an iffy painted-on belt. So… not that great after all.

  2. Why can’t they just do a classic black and gold Black Widow?
Every other version just gets an automatic pass from me.

I need them to FINALLY do better than the Black Widow & Winter Soldier 2-Pack Black Widow from 7 years ago. I love that figure, but COME ON, it can’t be the best one FOREVER.

  3. So I wonder if we will get an X-Men wave for 2018… Unless the dead pool wave is the x men wave 2018….

      • And Dabid, Dwight told me he believes it will be the best X wave yet! I told HIM if that’s going to be true, then it better be an 8 wave assortment and the BAF better be Sauron! Lol

  4. That Cable is an absolute must have. So awesome looking. This Deadpool also is more my taste than the other recent one. This one is that bright red that I want. Not that dark dull red.

  5. Yay! classic Cable! finally. and YAY for 6″ motorcycles. I was pissed the last ghost rider didnt have a bike, so dumb. hopefully we get a Cap bike too (not that we need ANOTHER cap figure, god no, but I’d like a cycle for him).

  6. Theres rumored to be 7 figures in the Deadpool wave… im guessing The Movie Deadpool… Teenage Megasonic… Movie Colossus again… and maybe very hopeful…heres im guessing but very hopeful for is Blind Al?… or it cluld be movie Cable with Josh Brolins look… or… Marvel could be economical and release a Second Deadpool figure with Different Paint Apps yellow and green ish… just to reuse molds…

    • There won’t be any movie figures in the Deadpool series, since it’s not a Disney/MCU movie. Disney won’t allow it.

    • The rumored list includes X-23, X-Force Deadpool, Paladin and Deathlok, in addition to these 3, with a Strong Guy BAF.

  7. Haven’t picked up a Deadpool as of yet.. least on the Legends side. So I’ll probably be picking up this set. Or mainly Dp, Cable & Domino certainly.
Don’t have a widow anymore either. So I’ll be getting her, if only for my DareDevil. Bike is a plus too I guess. It’ll make for some cool street shots. Either way with being day one! Who knows.. We’re overdue for a new Doc Ock too, bet if anything is revealed it’ll be Superior Octopus we’ll get.
Just thought I’d toss that last one in to see if anyone else is thinking the same.

  8. I’m hoping they utilize a full comic DP wave of 7 figures to knock out the original X-Force line-up. Classic Warpath, Feral, Cannonball, and Boom Boom plus the three mentioned above. If they do that line I don’t even care what the BAF is – I’d be sold. It’s probably wishful thinking that they’d do a line that was actually an entire team roster. Guess we’ll see.

  9. I hate that they don’t use shading in their paint jobs any more hardly. Maybe they typically do for the 6″ figures, but as a 4″ collector, they basically leave parts the bland and whatever the plastic color is. They don’t shade anymore. Back in the Marvel Universe days, they had awesome paint jobs and details. Lots of dirty washes to make the detail pop. Muscles were evident and defined. Now everything is glossy plastic with little muscle detail and half the articulation. But yet they jack up the prices. I’m losing my passion for this stuff.

  10. I guess you all know what scale (size in inches ) all these action figures and acessories are but I am left to guess that none are 1:18scale or 3 3/4 “to 4”, which is my most interest in collecting.

  11. Hopefully this Deadpool won’t sell out like last years and I might actually find one at a store.
