Despite LEGO’s best efforts, photos leaked out from the 2014 Toy Fair International of all of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel Summer 2014 sets. All of the sets–save one! Perhaps it was because it was the smallest of the sets and most difficult to photograph, or perhaps because folks were less interested in it than the other sets on display. Regardless of the reason, we’ve yet to get a good look at the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Starblaster Showdown 76019–until now! And while the set includes just one exclusive minifigure, it’s one many fans will want to army-build…

While the previous two LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets that I’ve discussed have both been at the fairly pricy cost of $40 and up, the LEGO Starblaster Showdown 76019 set is the sole “value” set in the LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy sets theme, priced at just $19.99 for 196 pieces. 10 cents per piece is my “sweet spot” when it comes to LEGO sets, so this set is exactly the value that I’m looking for. Thanks, LEGO!

Of course, the slim price-tag would be meaningless if the LEGO 76019 Starblaster Showdown set itself was uninteresting. Luckily, that’s not an issue, as the LEGO Starblaster Showdown is easily the best for army-builders amongst the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO set offerings.

Two of the three figures in this set are generic army-builder LEGO minifigures: the LEGO Nova Corps Officer minifigure and the LEGO Sakaaran Soldier minifigure. While the Sakaaran LEGO figure is included with all three LEGO GOTG sets, the LEGO Nova Corps Officer figure is exclusive to the 76019 LEGO Starblaster Showdown set. So at just $20 each, it’s not unthinkable that many LEGO Marvel collectors will be buying multiples of this set to fill out the ranks of their good and evil cosmic armies!

The third figure in the set is another repeat from the LEGO Milano Spaceship Rescue set–it’s an identical LEGO Star-Lord minifigure. It’s a toss-up between whether Star Lord or Rocket Raccoon will be the most popular character in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, so repacking the LEGO Starlord Minifigure here is a smart move (provided people do enough up liking Chris Pratt as Star-Lord–which I think they will).

The Nova Corps Starblaster LEGO spaceship is actually a pretty fun and cool-looking little build that I wouldn’t mind having more than one of myself (although the LEGO Sakaaran Necrocraft looks utterly outmatched in comparison).

The LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Starblaster Showdown 76019 set is scheduled to be released in June 2014, although I fully expect the set to leak out for sale in some stores before then. I’ll post an update once LEGO 76019 and the rest of the GOTG LEGO sets begin arriving in stores.
