Punisher: One Last Kill premiered on Disney+ this week as one of the most blood-drenched, violence-packed entries in MCU history—and Hasbro was primed and ready to cash in on all that action with a new MCU Punisher action figure! Coinciding with One Last Kill, the new Marvel Legends Punisher live-action figure is now up for order! But is this figure accurate enough to earn its way into your collection?

Those of us who have been collecting for a few years now (or a lifetime, like me) have heard the explanation from action figure companies many times that multimedia tie-in figures released around the debut window for a new show or movie are often inaccurate due to the necessity of being based on concept designs and artwork. 

With that in mind, it’s really not even an iota of a surprise that the new Punisher Legends figure solicited this week alongside the premiere of One Last Kill doesn’t exactly match the source material. Such is the world of release window toys! 

And so, we’ve got this Marvel Legends One Last Kill Punisher figure that isn’t exactly what we saw on-screen in the special. That said, I still think this is an excellent Jon Bernthal figure that is inspired by One Last Kill, if nothing else. 

If you bought last year’s Daredevil Born Again Punisher, this new version is similar, but better. The sad-faced portrait on the Born Again figure was the biggest criticism of many fans, and that’s been amended here with an awesome telling aggro head. Frank’s beard is also more pronounced on the heads with the new figure (as they should be). 

In addition, the Punisher logo on Frank’s chest is much bolder and easier to see this time, and all of the accessories from last year’s figure return—as well as the new inclusions of a shotgun, grenades and a gun blast effect. 

If some of the body mold parts look familiar, it’s because this Frank is utilizing some old tooling like Hawkeye’s legs and John Walker’s hands. I’m not sure that the reused bits are ideal for this character, but they don’t look awful either. 

In a vacuum, I would say this is clearly the better live-action Punisher figure.  But do you need one if you bought last year’s? That answer will vary to each individual collector. I bought last year’s, and I’m happy enough to stick with it unless I am totally blown away by Punisher in Spider-Man Brand New Day and find myself lusting for a new toy of Frank. Your lust may vary. 

Not surprisingly, both Amazon and Entertainment Earth swiftly sold out of pre-orders for the new Punisher Legends figure, but BBTS still had him available for pre-order while I was typing this up, but then sold out before I could publish the article, but then Frank went BACK up for order on Amazon–so get him while he lasts if you want him. I’d hope more stock will come available once this figure starts shipping, as demand will spike when the new Spider-Man movie opens.
