Amazing Spider-Man 2 Hot Toys Rhino 1/6 Revealed & Photos

I can be a pretty jaded toy collector these days, what with the state of the action figure aisle paling in comparison to the days of yesteryear and once-legendary franchises like Star Wars and G.I. Joe on the rocks. Thankfully, there are still some mornings that make it all worthwhile when I can wake up, turn on my phone, and have my eyes bulge out and my jaw drop past its limits. This was one of those mornings. To my complete and utter amazement (and likely the amazement of the entire collecting world), Hot Toys unveiled their GI-freaking-GANTIC 1/6 Amazing Spider-Man 2 Hot Toys Rhino figure today!

I did not have my hopes sky-high when Hot Toys announced their acquisition of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 license last summer. We got a grand total of one figure from the first Amazing Spider-Man movie–Spidey himself–and that Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man figure ended up being delayed for about a year. I genuinely expected that Hot Toys’ Amazing Spider-Man 2 figures lineup would consist of solely a new Spider-Man and perhaps a Hot Toys Electro if we were really lucky.

What I was not expecting in this or any other lifetime was a monstrous, towering Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rhino Hot Toys sixth scale figure.

That’s right–Hot Toys is daring to tread where other companies dare not go. There’s no Hasbro Marvel Legends Rhino figure on the way, nor is there even a Marvel Minimates Rhino Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure forthcoming. But Hot Toys evidently has no fear of breaking the bank accounts of Marvel collectors everywhere with what is almost certainly going to be the largest Hot Toys Marvel 1/6 figure ever made.

Hot Toys hasn’t published the specifications for the sixth scale Rhino Hot Toys figure yet, but we can tell from the preview photos that he is going to be positively massive. We don’t have pricing details on the figure yet either, but if he sells for a penny under the $599.99 that the Hot Toys Batman Tumbler vehicles cost, I will be utterly stunned.

The Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rhino figure will be displayed at the “Marvel Sapiens” exhibition in Tokyo, Japan from now until May 11th, 2014. Ordinarily we’d get a pre-order within a few days of Hot Toys releasing official photos, but given the enormity of this project, I suspect we’ll have to wait a mite longer this time. I’ll post an update and an alert to the Marvel Toy News Facebook page once more details on the Hot Toys Rhino 1/6th scale figure are available.

Let’s hear it, Marvel collectors: Are you shocked and stunned by Hot Toys’ announcement of the Rhino mech? Are you geeking out and preparing to drop hundreds of dollars on this crazy mechanical beast, or is this piece out of your price-range/interest zone?

  1. Looks good… but not enough like the Alex O’Hirn im used to.
Ill put some money aside in hopes that this Rhino wins me over in Spidey 2

  2. That thing is friggin awesome. Unfortunately, it is going to be WAY out of my price range.

  3. I hate it. I am getting fed up with the way these movies keep trying to re imagine our beloved classic characters. I dont understand why they cant just stay on path of classic looks. I am afraid that if this keeps up our classics will be nothing more than a distant memory. It makes me sad.

  4. Looks awesome! $600! I better start collecting aluminium cans!
