After a long drought of news regarding the Avengers Infinite Series 3 3/4″ line (which was replaces the Hasbro Marvel Universe line in 2014), in the past two weeks we’ve learned virtually everything there is to know about Avengers Infinite Series 1. A confirmed lineup and hi-res images appeared during the holidays, and today Hasbro is allowing retailers to take orders for Avengers Infinite Series 1 figures and cases, thus revealing the case ratios! Though, sad to say, Wasp fans will not be happy…
Though she’s a founding Avengers, Janet Van Dyne has never been produced as a 3 3/4″ action figure before by any company, so her inclusion in the Avengers Infinite Series 2014 lineup is a pretty big deal. But for whatever reason, Hasbro thinks that the “Platinum” Wasp Avengers Infinite Series figure won’t be a good seller, and is limiting her to one-per-case. Thanks, Hasbro.
The case ratios for Avengers Infinite Series 1 are as follows:
(3) Avengers Infinite Series Heroic Age Iron Man
(2) Avengers Infinite Series Captain America
(2) Avengers Infinite Series Platinum Hyperion
(2) Avengers Infinite Series Platinum Grim Reaper
(2) Avengers Infinite Series Platinum Hulk [Marvel NOW Hulk]
(1) Avengers Infinite Series Platinum Wasp
While I’m pleased to see Grim Reaper and Hyperion each being packed at a fair two-per-case, it boggles my mind that Hasbro thinks that a repaint/repack Heroic Age Iron Man is not going to clog shelves for the entire year at three-per-case. There are an uncountable number of small-scale Iron Man figures on the shelves of nearly every store in the country already, so I can’t imagine why Hasbro thinks an out-of-date Iron Man figure is going to be a top-seller. I guess we’ll see in a few months.
Full cases, sets and individuals of all the figures in Avengers Infinite Series 1 (sans Wasp) are now available for pre-order, with an expected arrival date of February/March 2014. I really want that Wasp, so I went ahead and ordered a full set of Series 1, despite the fact that I don’t care much for the Captain America and Iron Man figures in the set.
What about you, Marvel collectors? Are you getting pumped to collect the Avengers Infinite Series, or are you taking a wait-and-see approach with Hasbro’s new 3 3/4″ line?
Hardly the most original comment on the internet, but DAMN IT HASBRO, YOU HAD ONE JOB! ONE!
And last time I checked, it wasn’t “produce toys that never leave store shelves.” Not officially anyway.
I’m not really worried about it. If there isn’t another Iron-Man line, the kids will buy those up and I’m sure Wasp will show up again in a repack case.
