A couple days ago I declared that the Mighty Muggs Rom Space Knight figure was the most out-of-left-field exclusive for this month’s San Diego Comic Con 2014. Well, I stand by that original assessment–but if there was a prize for second most out-of-left-field SDCC 2014 exclusive, it would probably go to UCC Distributing for an exclusive they’re partnered up with Marvel and Hasbro for. He’s cosplayed as Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America and Spider-Man–and this month you’ll be able to get your own 2014 SDCC Exclusive Deadpool Mr. Potato Head: Dead Peel!

Occasionally someone will ask me why I don’t write about any of the Marvel Mr. Potato Head toys and figures that come out, and I do my best at those moments to feign ignorance and change the subject. I try to include the widest breadth of collectibles possible here on Marvel Toy News, but there are a few (very few) Marvel Toys that I have absolutely no interest in. And sadly, the Mr. Potato Head Marvel Mash Ups (no, really–“Mash Up” is in the product name) are one of those items you ordinarily couldn’t pay me to talk about.

Now then–let’s talk about Mr. Potato Head.

Up until now, only six Marvel characters have been immortalized as Mr. Potato Heads: Wolverine, Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man. If I said I had ever considered buying even one of these, I would be totally lying.

To get me to take notice of a Marvel Mr. Potato Head Superhero figure, it would have to be something totally cool, limited, unexpected and a favorite character of mine. To my astonishment, there’s actually going to be a figure released that meets those criterion.

UCC Distributing will have one of most bizarre San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusives later this month, when their booth sells the first-ever (and most likely last-ever) Deadpool Mr. Potato Head figure! Like the Spider-Man Mr. Potato that’s already in stores, Deadpool’s main potato body will be completely covered in a fabric “costume”, along with a plastic lower-body, arms, and sword sheathes backpack. For what it is (and this is not a toy for everyone), DeadPeel is really well-done.

I have no clue how well this particular item is going to sell at the show (as SDCC exclusive Mr. Potato Heads are few and far between, believe it or not), but Mr. Potato Head Deadpool is selling online now for around $40 shipped if you’re not attending or want to avoid lining up to get one at the event.

The Deadpeel Mr. Potato Head Deadpool exclusive will be available at the UCC Distributing booth #700 at SDCC 2014 from 7/23/2014-7/27/2014. They’ve allocated 400 units for each day of the convention (the total edition size is 2,000), so theoretically you should be able to grab a Deadpool Potato Head even if you’re only attending Sunday. Dead Peel will retail for $19.99 at SDCC 2014.

I’m dying to know, Marvel collectors–how many of you are contemplating picking up this 2014 SDCC Exclusive Deadpool Mr. Potato Head figure? Is this spud mercenary a must for your collection, or does he not fit in with the meat and potatoes (sorry, I couldn’t help myself) of your collection?
